It takes a lot to play a demigod on screen in Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Disney+’s hit series based on Rick Riordan’s book series of the same name. But it’s arguably harder to get into the mindset of a cyclops, the challenge faced by Daniel Diemer, the newest addition to the young adult cast of the series, which returns for Season 2 this December.

Diemer stars as Tyson, Percy’s (Walker Scobell) half-brother and new addition to the Camp Half-Blood team who just so happens to be a cyclops. With the mind of a child, Tyson is initially a hindrance to Percy’s quest to rescue Grover (Aryan Simhadri) from the clutches of the much larger and more infamous cyclops Polyphemus, though he eventually grows to love his half-brother, a fan-favorite character whose appearance was highly discussed ahead of the Season 2 trailer released yesterday.

Walker Scobell isn’t the only one going on a quest in Season 2 of Percy Jackson & the Olympians. There's finally some good news to share with Percy Jackson and the Olympians fans who have been waiting for a release date. Disney+ previously revealed that the hit series based on Rick Riordan's best-selling books would arrive in December 2025, and when the release date was announced at San Diego Comic-Con, that's exactly when the highly anticipated new season arrives.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians released a new look at this December's upcoming Season 2 through 17 GIFs teasing several scenes from the series' next installment. This comes the same day as some additional first looks at Disney+ 2025 content previews.

One of the additional previews outside of the GIFs includes a clip of Percy running while holding what some fans believe is the Golden Fleece, a key object in the story of The Sea of Monsters novel that Season 2 is adapting. Another features Annabeth's voice: "A hero will become a powerful weapon." This line does not come from any Percy Jackson novels or subsequent sequel and prequel stories.

The House of Mouse began adapting Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson novels in December 2023, with Season 1 covering The Lightning Thief. The season 3 news makes me more excited to read the third book, especially hearing how excited the core cast is about the next installment.
