Invasion: What Is The Alien Claw? The Malik Family’s Weapon Explained
Image
Invasion season 1 introduced the powerful alien claw, which emitted frequencies that affected the aliens' vibrations and allowed Aneesha to part the corrosive alien substance, saving her family. In Invasion season 2, the alien claw's power is once again demonstrated as it possesses Luke, emitting an anti-frequency that repels the aliens. The true purpose of the claw remains unknown, but it will play a vital role in the eventual victory against the aliens.

Apple TV+'s Invasion sees the Malik family in possession of a powerful, otherworldly weapon - but win Invasion, where did Luke find the claw? Created by Simon Kinberg, Invasion drew criticism in its first season from some critics who cite its slow-burn narrative as a far cry...

Everything We Know So Far About Invasion Season 2
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Invasion" season 1.

Hold on to your humanity, because "Invasion" season 2 is on its way. The Apple TV+ series' combination of epic high-stakes action and intensely personal human stories was clearly successful enough for Tim Cook's streamer to give co-creators Simon Kinberg and David Weil another run of episodes. Apple renewed "Invasion" for season 2 ahead of the season finale back in 2021, with Kinberg saying at the time, "I'm super excited about what we're planning for season 2, expanding our universe in the most intimate and epic ways."

Intimacy and epicness was the Usp of "Invasion" season 1, and while not every critic was convinced — turns out the alien invasion is a languorous affair for some — Apple obviously felt differently. Or at least, enough viewers did that the company felt it was worth renewing. And why not? Though it's undeniably a slow burn, that's kind of the point. Kinberg...

Apple Plus’ New Alien Drama ‘Invasion’ Begins With More Melodrama Than Aliens: TV Review
Image
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched the first three episodes of “Invasion,” Apple Plus’ new drama that premiered Friday, Oct. 22.

Despite its ominous title, “Invasion” makes a slow burn out of revealing its basic premise. You’d know more about the new drama by reading its logline — “the series follows an alien invasion” — than by watching its first three episodes, which dropped Oct. 22 on Apple TV Plus. Though there’s something — or some thing? — creeps its way around the world by leveling buildings, smashing space stations, and giving kids nosebleeds, “Invasion” keeps its cards close to the chest. Rather than so much as utter the word “alien” in these initial episodes, “Invasion” focuses on the global ripple effects of increasing panic — which might be fine, if it also did a decent job developing its many characters along the way.

From co-creators Simon Kinberg (“The Martian”) and...

Octavia Spencer and Riz Ahmed in Encounter (2021)
"What are you going to do?" "Make contact." Apple has revealed a second official trailer for their thrilling new sci-fi series titled Invasion, that is clearly "inspired" by H.G. Wells' classic novel "War of the Worlds". Following multiple storylines across different continents, Apple TV+'s Invasion takes a global look at how one alien invasion would affect us all. It seems to show different perspectives as they try to make sense of what's happening - a solider, a sheriff, a mother, an astronaut. The series features 10 episodes and launches later in October. Shamier Anderson, Golshifteh Farahani, Sam Neill, Firas Nassar, and Shioli Kutsuna star in this sci-fi drama that will make you question what you would do under extraterrestrial threat. There's so many crazy intense things happening in this trailer, yet they still don't show any of the actual aliens, for better or worse. I'm intrigued, definitely want to watch,...

Invasion Trailer: Sam Neill Fights Off a Worldwide Alien Attack
Image
Apple has unleashed the first trailer for its upcoming series Invasion. The show stars Sam Neill in the lead role, with Oscar and Emmy nominee Simon Kinberg heading things up behind the scenes. Apple describes the show as a sweeping, character-driven series. As we can see from the trailer, life on Earth is going to be disrupted in a big bad way by some alien invaders. What do they want? At this point, it's unclear. But what is clear is that humanity is in no way ready to deal with the consequences of such a grand event.

The trailer opens with a view of a happy family, going through their morning routine. Things seem normal enough at first. But some ominous voiceover, courtesy of Sam Neill, kicks in that allows an unsettling vibe to creep in, even as we are fed more images of life progressing around the world, seemingly without issue.

Between Heaven And Earth - Amber Wilkinson - 16763
Najwa Najjar charts an uneven course in her latest film as a road trip takes a couple on a journey into their families' past, as her attempts to underpin her relationship drama with a history lesson become confusing in the end.

Even before they set foot in the elderly car they will use to make the trip, it seems the relationship between Palestinians Salma (Mouna Hawa) and Tamer (Firas Nassar) may well have reached the end of the road. After five years of marriage, Salma wants a divorce and the pair are heading from the West Bank to Israel to complete the paperwork. The power play between the two is indicated economically by Tamer's insistence that he drives the car, even though he knows he will have to give the keys to Salma at the checkpoint as she is the only one authorised to drive a car with Israeli plates.

Film Review: Between Heaven and Earth (2019) by Najwa Najjar
Image
“Between Heaven and Earth” by the Palestinian filmmaker Najwa Najjar is structured like a road movie with an unusual pair setting off on a journey and of course, meeting various colorful characters on their way. However, nothing can be easy in a conflict-torn territory, so do not expect a joyride. An ironic dramedy with time gives room to a psychological drama and even bits of a mystery thriller. Middle East politics, which was present also in the backdrop of the previous films of the director, is like a ghost, hunting the everyday life and preoccupying troubled hearts and souls of the protagonists.

“Between Heaven and Earth” is screening at the London Palestine Film festival.

Salma (Mouna Hawa) and Tamer (Firas Nassar), residents of Ramallah in the West Bank, want to divorce, and to deal with court proceedings they need to visit Israel. Salma is a Palestinian from Nazareth holding Israeli citizenship,...

Najwa Najjar talks about her middle-class Palestinian divorce drama ‘Between Heaven And Earth’
The film received a 10-minute standing ovation at its world premiere.

In the opening scene of Palestinian director Najwa Najjar’s new film Between Heaven And Earth, a sassy looking young woman rocks up at her former marital home in Ramallah in a vintage blue Mercedes with red-leather seats, music blaring.

Inside, she finds the place in disarray and her estranged husband idling in the outdoor pool.

The romantic road movie, marks a departure in terms of tone and register, if not political intent, for Najjar after hard-hitting West Bank-set dramas Pomegranates And Myrrh and Eyes Of A Thief.
