The Bibi Files Review: A Critical Look at Israeli Governance
Image
The Bibi Files, directed by Alexis Bloom, is an engrossing documentary that goes beyond just a political report. It turns Benjamin Netanyahu’s story into a compelling narrative that questions conventional narrative. The film starts with a close interrogation scene, drawing viewers into the serious issue of political corruption. This decision conveys a sense of urgency and reflects today’s political chaos.

Bloom’s clear editing style matches quick news updates, using old footage and current interviews to create a feeling of being right in the moment. A generation tired of political theater resonates with this nonlinear approach, encouraging viewers to create a complicated narrative.

The documentary focuses on Netanyahu as a divided character, showing traits of both strength and corruption. It serves as a cultural artifact that reflects societal concerns and the moral implications of leadership. The Bibi Files, which stands as a testament to the power of film...

Boy Band Meets Middle East Conflict on Paramount+ Docuseries
Image
On Oct. 6, 2023, the six members of the newly formed first ever Israeli-Palestinian boy band As1one (stylized as as1one) arrived in Los Angeles as so many groups had done before: wide-eyed, eager and committed to launching a career in music.

Within hours of landing, reality set in — their homeland had been invaded.

The morning of Oct. 7, Hamas terrorists penetrated the southern border between Israel and Gaza and launched a surprise attack on nearby villages and attendees of the Nova Music Festival, resulting in the death of 1,195 Israelis and foreign nationals, and the kidnapping of 251 people. An immediate declaration of war led to an escalation by Israel’s military and a counterattack. There remains no resolution to the conflict today, and there are still nearly 100 hostages.

Barely settling into their Hollywood Hills rental, and about to hit the studio to work on material with the likes of hit songwriters Justin Tranter...

Image
Militarie Gun are officially back with “Thought You Were Waving,” the Los Angeles band’s first proper new music since their excellent 2023 debut album, Life Under the Gun. Stream it below.

“Thought You Were Waving” was created by the Consequence rising artist to watch with Zachary Dawes. A tongue-in-cheek track all about misunderstanding, it finds vocalist Ian Shelton singing lyrics like, “I thought you were waving/ Turns out you were drowning/ Pull me down, just save me next time.”

In the Neta Ben Ezra-directed music video, the members of Militarie Gun passively get involved in all sorts of ridiculous situations, such as letting a robber steal all their belongings, ignoring a burning house, and disposing of dead bodies. Watch it below.

Earlier this year, Militarie Gun dropped their EP Life Under the Sun, which reimagined five songs from Life Under the Gun. More recently,...
