‘The Get Down’: Netflix Releases New Music Video and Soundtrack Details Ahead of The Show’s Return — Watch
The Get Down (2016)
Fans of “The Get Down” will soon be able to enjoy the newest music from the hit musical-drama, as Netflix has announced that the original soundtrack for Part Two will be released April 14.

Released through series creator Baz Luhrmann’s label, House of Iona, the original soundtrack will include both new tracks and classic reimagined songs from up-and-coming artists such as 6lack. Executive producer Nas will also contribute to the original soundtrack, and the show’s cast, including Skylan Brooks, Tremaine Brown Jr., Jaden Smith, Justice Smith and Shameik Moore as “The Get Down Brothers,” is also prominently featured.

Baz Luhrmann’s Musical Drama The Get Down Unveils New Trailer
Baz Luhrmann, director behind The Great Gatsby and Romeo & Juliet, has been deliberating The Get Down for the better part of a decade but soon, his vision for a ’70s musical drama will become a reality.

Set to premiere via Netflix on August 12 as part of the company’s enviable lineup of original series, Luhrmann’s long-in-development show chronicles the rise of hip-hop through the lens of a group of poverty-stricken kids from South Bronx.

Chatting to the Telegraph ahead of The Get Down‘s arrival in three weeks’ time, the filmmaker spoke of his self-proclaimed obsession with the core premise, stating “throughout, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of how a city in its lowest moment, forgotten and half destroyed, could give birth to such creativity and originality in music, art and culture.”

Newcomer Herizen Guardiola To Star In Baz Luhrmann’s ‘The Get Down’
Herizen Guardiola will make her acting debut in The Get Down, Netflix’s original series from Baz Luhurman. The 18-year-old singer-songwriter will topline the music-driven drama that revolves around a ragtag crew of South Bronx teenagers who are wild in the streets — nothings and nobodies with no one to shelter them, except one another. Tremaine Brown Jr., Justice Smith, Shameik Moore and Skylan Brooks were already cast in the series, which is set for 13 episodes to debut in 2016.
