'What the F—?': Walton Goggins Fuels Rumors of Alleged Feud With The White Lotus Co-Star Aimee Lou Wood
Image
Fans of The White Lotushave been trying to work out exactly what's going on between Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins. Their characters in the show were lovers, they were said to be friends offscreen... and then suddenly they unfollowed each other on social media.

Things got worse when Saturday Night Live did a sketch involving Wood's character that made fun of her teeth, and Goggins called the sketch "amazing" on social media. Now he's added even more fuel to what was already a raging fire by fiercely refusing to comment on rumors of a feud.

While being interviewed by The Times, Goggins was asked about the feud rumors and he soon started to get displeased. “I’m not gonna have that conversation. There is no conversation to be had about that," he said at first, while his publicists also tried to shut the line of questioning down. When pressed once more,...

Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood Are Not Beefing Like Blake Lively Did With Justin Baldoni
Image
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have become the talk of Tinseltown thanks to their ongoing feud, which apparently keeps getting worse. Meanwhile, another pair of co-stars are rumored to be feuding: The White Lotus pair Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood.

Apparently, not only were there tensions between them on the set, but the two also do not get along in real life as well as their characters did on screen. However, recent reports suggest that, unlike the Lively-Baldoni drama, the duo is going to work together soon once again.

Image
An entertainment journalist is speaking out about Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins.

If you don’t know, there’s been weeks of rumors that The White Lotus co-stars could be embroiled in some kind of feud after fans noticed they don’t follow each other on Instagram. Walton‘s comment on SNL‘s White Lotus parody sketch furthered rumors, amid Aimee Lou calling out the sketch comedy show for mocking her appearance.

Keep reading to find out more…

“The only thing that I will say — I was told this off the record — but there is something professionally that they are doing in the coming weeks together,” CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister said on “The Viall Files” podcast.

Elizabeth continued, “So if there really is a feud, this has not stopped them… It’s not like they can’t be in the same room, is my point. Because I feel that...

Diddy Slams CNN For Allegedly Altering Cassie Ventura Beating Footage; Cable Newser Destroyed Original Video, Rapper Claims
Image
Updated with CNN statement: Heading to trial on sex trafficking charges and more in less than two months, Sean “Diddy” Combs on Thursday made a very Donald Trump move and defended himself by accusing the mainstream media of peddling fake news.

In a big swing as he faces life behind bars if found guilty, the Bad Boy Records founder now alleges that CNN altered, to his detriment, hotel security footage of him seemingly beating then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016.

“The defense has confirmed, through a forensic video analysis of the CNN footage that the government provided to this Court and of the footage provided by CNN in response to the defense subpoena, that all CNN video footage was substantially altered in significant respects,” states a joint letter to Judge Arun Subramanian from Diddy’s defense and the U.S. Attorney’s office ahead of a scheduled March 14 pre-trial hearing.

“This includes...

Diddy’s lawyer accused the prosecution’s new indictment as “flawed.” The lawyer asserted that the prosecution wrongly claimed that two of Diddy’s ex-girlfriends were pr**titutes whom he allegedly trafficked.

The rapper has been in jail since September last year after an initial indictment charged him with s*x trafficking by force, racketeering, and transportation to engage in pr**titution. The new allegation has only intensified the complications surrounding the case.

Diddy Male Accuser Breaks Silence About Drugging & Assault
Image
An accuser involved in a lawsuit against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has recently publicly spoken out for the first time. The anonymous man claims the mogul assaulted him during the early 2000s. Notably, the incident allegedly took place at one of Diddy’s now-infamous “white parties.”

‘Joe Doe’ Claims He Was Hired To Work Security At A Party For Diddy

The figure has only been identified as John Doe, wanting to remain anonymous. He recently spoke to CNN from a darkened room in New Jersey, speaking with the network’s Elizabeth Wagmeister.

In a lawsuit filed earlier this year, John Doe’s legal team claimed that he was hired to work security for a 2006 party hosted by Diddy. As he claims, Doe noticed something was off after the mogul gave him a few drinks.

Taylor Swift’s Endorsement of Kamala Harris Resulted in a “400% to 500% Increase” in Voter Registration
Image
After Tuesday night’s presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to officially endorse Harris for the 2024 election. In the following 24 hours, nearly half a million people visited Vote.gov, the official government website where United States citizens can register to vote (learn more on how to register here).

As reported by Elizabeth Wagmeister (a CNN entertainment correspondent) and Betsy Klein (CNN’s Senior White House Producer), 405,999 people were referred to Vote.gov directly from Swift’s Instagram page. Such a number dwarfs the website’s usual traffic, which averages about 30,000 visitors per day.

Samantha Morton Says Harvey Weinstein Tried to ‘Destroy My Career’ After She Rejected His ‘Misogynistic’ Movie, Called Her ‘Unf—able’
Image
Samantha Morton appeared on a new episode of “The Louis Theroux Podcast” and recalled her tumultuous history with Harvey Weinstein, who is currently imprisoned as a convicted rapist. The “Minority Report” actor said Weinstein blackballed her on his films such as 2005’s “The Brothers Grimm” after she turned down one of his movies years prior. That film was the 2000 romantic comedy “About Adam,” starring Kate Hudson, Stuart Townsend and Frances O’Connor.

According to Morton, Weinstein was impressed with her performance in 1997’s “Under the Skin” and courted her to star in “About Adam.”

“I said, ‘I don’t like it,’” Morton said about turning down the offer. “‘I think the film is really misogynistic and I don’t want to be part of it.’ The casting director came back with, ‘You don’t say no to Harvey.’ Well it’s not to him. I just don’t want to do this film…...

Inside Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’ Red Carpet Premiere During SAG-AFTRA Strike, Director Justin Simien Wants to Talk to Bob Iger

None of the stars of the movie were expected to be in attendance, including Lakeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon, Daniel Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Hasan Minhaj, Marilu Henner and Lindsay Lamb all observing the SAG-AFTRA strike. The studio still rolled out the red carpet at Disneyland in Anaheim Saturday night.

Director Justin Simien told Variety he was “sad” his cast couldn’t attend, but understands why and supports the actors walkout. Press were initially told that Simien would not be doing interviews.

Fran Drescher Slams Bob Iger’s ‘Repugnant’ and ‘Tone Deaf’ Strike Comments: If I Were Disney, ‘I Would Lock Him Behind Doors’
Image
SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher railed against Disney CEO Bob Iger during an interview with Variety on the strike picket lines outside of the Paramount Pictures studio lot.

In a July 13 interview with CNBC’s David Faber from the Sun Valley Conference, Iger said WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikers were not being “realistic” with their demands.

“I found them terribly repugnant and out of touch. Positively tone deaf. I don’t think it served him well,” Drescher said on Friday when asked about Iger’s comments. Speaking to Variety chief correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister, Drescher continued, “If I were that company, I would lock him behind doors and never let him talk to anybody about this, because it’s so obvious that he has no clue as to what is really happening on the ground with hard working people that don’t make anywhere near the salary he is making. Eva Longoria Calls Out Hollywood Bias: 'A White Male Can Direct a $200 Million Film, Fail and Get Another One'
Image
As reported by Variety, Eva Longoria recently called out Hollywood's bias against female directors during her Kering Women in Motion chat at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. The Devious Maids star was accompanied by University of Southern California Annenberg professor and researcher Dr. Stacy L. Smith. Longoria is making her feature film directorial debut with the drama Flamin' Hot.

While chatting with Variety's Elizabeth Wagmeister, the first-time director stated that she "felt the weight of my community" as well as "the weight of every female director." Longoria also reflected on Hollywood's stance on women-directed films and noted that female directors aren't given the same privilege as male directors.

She said, "We don't get a lot of bites at the apple. My movie wasn't low budget by any means — it wasn't $100 million, but it wasn't $2 million. When was the last Latina-directed studio film? It was like 20 years ago. We can't get a movie every 20 years.

Eva Longoria Calls Out Hollywood: ‘A White Male Can Direct’ a $200 Million Flop and ‘Get Another One.’ I Can’t.
Image
Eva Longoria put Hollywood on notice during her Kering Women in Motion talk at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

The “Desperate Housewives” alum, who was joined by University of Southern California Annenberg professor and researcher Dr. Stacy L. Smith, is making her feature directorial debut with “Flamin’ Hot,” an inspirational story about a Frito-Lay janitor who invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The film won an audience award at the SXSW Film Festival.

As a female director, a first-time director and a Latina director, Longoria said she “felt the weight of my community” and “the weight of every female director” when production started on “Flamin’ Hot.” Speaking with Variety chief correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister, Longoria noted that Hollywood does not play fair when it comes to films directed by women flopping versus male directors. There can be no margin of error for a director like Longoria, as one flop could cost her another directorial gig,...

Controversial New HBO Show From Euphoria Creator Premieres, Gets Scandalous Reactions
Image
The Idol premieres at the Cannes Film Festival, and the early reactions are eyebrow-raising, to say the least. Co-created by Euphoria's Sam Levinson and Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye, the series centers on a troubled pop star (played by Lily-Rose Depp) who falls into the clutches of a cult leader played by The Weeknd. The supporting cast includes Red Rocket's Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy, and Shiva Baby's Rachel Sennott. Months before its premiere, The Idol has been the subject of controversy due to an array of behind-the-scenes issues.

The Idol premiered at the Cannes Film Festival ahead of its HBO debut next month, and despite receiving a five-minute standing ovation, the first reactions to the show range from divisive to downright scandalous. Even by HBO standards, the show features a shocking amount of nudity and sexual content involving Depp. One reaction dubbed the series "50 Shades Of Tesfaye: A Pornhub-homepage odyssey,...

HBO’s ‘The Idol’ Divides Cannes Audiences: ’50 Shades of Tesfaye’
The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp in The Idol (2023)
One of the biggest premieres at this year’s Cannes Film Festival wasn’t for a movie but rather a TV show as audience members geared up to witness the first two episodes of what appears to be HBO’s next big event show, “The Idol.”

First reactions for the Sam Levinson-produced melodrama, which follows a young pop star (Lily-Rose Depp) who falls under the sway of a potentially dangerous nightclub promoter (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye) are in, and they range anywhere from “a Pornhub-homepage odyssey starring Lily Rose Depp’s areolas and The Weeknd’s greasy rat tail” to “it’s really more like somebody put ‘Black Swan,’ ‘Succession’ and ‘Secretary’ in a blender and let it rip.”

One thing is clear, however, “Sam Levinson fans won’t be disappointed.”

Katie Holmes on ‘Dawson’s Creek’ Reboot: ‘There’s Been Many Discussions,’ but ‘Today’s World Might Tarnish It’

Katie Holmes confirmed during an interview as part of the Kering Women in Motion talks at Cannes that multiple discussions have taken place about rebooting “Dawson’s Creek,” the teen drama series that ran for six seasons on The WB and made stars out of Holmes and her co-stars James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson and more.

“There have been many discussions over the years. We all loved the experience,” Holmes said. “There’s a protection that comes along with the discussion. The show was a time capsule. To put it into today’s world might tarnish it a little bit. It was right before everyone had a phone and social media and all of that, so there was an innocence that was there between the characters that was one of the things I think people liked about the show. Daytime Emmys: ‘General Hospital’ Leads 2023 Nominations; Variety Lands Two Nods
Image
ABC’s legendary sudser “General Hospital” is looking to defend its crown at the Daytime Emmys, landing 19 nominations this year — the most of any program — as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced contenders for the landmark 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Last year, “General Hospital” was the big winner with five awards — including best daytime drama — as the telecast returned to a live, in-person event. This time out, NATAS first revealed multiple categories Tuesday night via various entertainment shows, and it looked like CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” — also in the middle of its 50th anniversary celebration — had taken an early lead.

But after all was tallied, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” was actually next in line, with 14 nods, followed by “The Young and the Restless” (13), NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” (11) and the most-honored non-serial, the syndicated “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” also with 11.

Mark Consuelos Talks Replacing Ryan Seacrest as Co-Host of ‘Live’ With Kelly Ripa, Marriage Counseling and Virtual Sex

Harvey Weinstein Will Not Face New Trial for Remaining Charges in Los Angeles
Image
Last year, Harvey Weinstein was found guilty by a Los Angeles jury — though in a mixed verdict, the hung jury could not reach an unanimous decision on all counts with the judge declaring a mistrial on three of seven charges.

On Tuesday morning, the judge dismissed those three remaining charges, and ruled that she would not be putting Weinstein back on trial.

Prior to the judge’s decision, the prosecution announced that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office would not be proceeding with the remaining charges.

Weinstein was sentenced last month to 16 additional years for his most recent conviction in L.A. He is already serving a 23-year sentence for his 2020 rape and sexual assault conviction in New York, and will all-but-likely spend the rest of his life behind bars. He is appealing both of his convictions.

After a two month trial in late 2022, the jury found Weinstein guilty...

Harvey Weinstein Judge Won’t Allow Extra Victims to Speak at Sentencing
Image
A judge ruled Thursday that no additional victims — beyond the one woman whose testimony was the basis for Harvey Weinstein’s conviction — will be able to give victim impact statements at Weinstein’s sentencing next week.

The ruling comes amid calls from attorney Gloria Allred to allow more victims to speak at the sentencing, which she says is the “right of a victim.” Allred represented three women in Weinstein’s Los Angeles trial, and has argued that all women involved in the case, regardless of the verdict, should be able to speak at the sentencing to let their voice be heard and provide relevant information for the court to consider. At the Thursday hearing, prosecutors Paul Thompson and Marlene Martinez asked the judge to hear from Allred in court.

Weinstein was found guilty on three counts of rape and sexual assault last December, after a two-month trial in Los Angeles.

Britney Spears Intervention Leak Likely From Inner Circle, According To Expert
Image
Britney Spears’ recent media storm may be coming from within her own circle.

The pop star became the center of public attention this week when it was reported there was an attempt to stage an intervention from her close confidants.

TMZ first wrote about the news on Thursday, claiming there was a planned intervention to address her mental health and substance abuse issues.

While the meeting didn’t end up happening, due to Spears learning of it, the plan was said to have involved Spears’ manager renting a house where Spears would spend two months while she received medical treatment and psychological counseling.

Considering the pop star only recently ender her conservatorship of 13 years, citing manipulation from her father Jamie Spears’ end, there has been concern over the recent rumours.

Wright spoke with Variety chief correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister, who asked, “When are we going to get ‘Black Panther 3’ greenlit?”

“I think it’s already in the works,” Wright replied. “You know, we just had a terrific two years of bringing it out and everybody coming together to support it. We need a little bit of a break, we need to regroup and [director] Ryan [Coogler] needs to get back into the lab, so it’s going to take a little while, but we’re really excited for you guys to see that.”

When pressed for more, Wright said, “I always try to do positive words and positive thinking, and I believe that good words manifest, so I’m manifesting a ‘Black Panther 3,’ why not?...

‘Rrr’ Star Ntr Jr. Says He’d ‘Love’ to Do a Marvel Movie: ‘I’m Waiting for It to Happen’
Image
Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”

Dear Marvel: Please meet with “Rrr” star Ntr Jr. The actor tells me he’s hoping to join the MCU. “I would love to do it,” he said at the Jan. 7 screening of “Rrr” at the DGA in West Hollywood, adding with a smile, “I’m waiting for it to happen.”

His favorite Marvel character is Iron Man. “He’s so relatable,” Ntr Jr. said. “He is someone like us. He does not have superpowers. He doesn’t come from a different planet. He’s not someone who has been put through a science experiment and become the Hulk.”

Not that Ntr Jr. needs to prove he has what it takes to play a superhero. Not only does he kill it as a revolutionary in the action dramedy “Rrr,” but his ripped physique is getting lots of attention. He trained 18 months and...

‘The Kardashians’ Has a Plot-Free, Work-Obsessed Season on Hulu
Image
The Kardashian family media approach used to be Swiss-watch precise: First, an event in the public life of the family happened, and was covered by the tabloid press in its moment. Then, some months later, the event would be the subject of an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” their E! reality show, in which the siblings discussed matters direct-to-camera. This could prompt a whole new round of chatter, one in which the family controlled the narrative.

With their new series, Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” which Kim Kardashian and her mother and sisters executive produce along with Ben Winston, the family’s control has grown tighter, but has whittled away the element that made the whole thing go. They still want our attention, but find themselves without things they’re willing to say. This shows itself in numerous ways: For one thing, the old series used sitcom rhythms and...

‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ Reboot Cast Revealed
Image
Bravo has unveiled the brand-new cast of its rebooted “Real Housewives of New York City” franchise.

Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Lizzy Savetsky, Jessel Taank and Brynn Whitfield will all be joining for Season 14. The news was revealed at a “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” taping on Sunday night during BravoCon, when the ladies surprised fans by walking on stage. In an exclusive interview with Variety in March, “Real Housewives” executive producer Andy Cohen had said that Bravo was looking for a cast that better reflected New York City. And indeed this one does: Lyons identifies as gay, and Taank will be the first Indian Housewife.

“Bravo has a long history of casting interesting, entertaining, and dynamic LGBTQ people in their highly popular programming,” GLAAD Vice President of Communications & Talent Anthony Allen Ramos said in a statement. “It’s exciting to see Jenna Lyons,...

Dorinda Medley on Possible ‘Rhony: Legacy’ Cast: ‘If You Hear Something, Call Me!’
Image
Former “The Real Housewives of New York City” star Dorinda Medley is staying mum on whether she’s apart of Bravo’s mysterious “Rhony: Legacy” spinoff, but she’s open to the idea.

“I swear to you, you know as much as we do. I promise you,” Medley told Variety at BravoCon. “I’ve heard more about the new girls [on the rebooted ‘Rhony’] than I have about ‘Legacy.’ Listen, if you hear something, call me! I’ll be at Blue Stone Manor waiting, decorating for Halloween.”

When asked if she wants to participate in the “Legacy” spinoff, Medley said “of course.”

“Listen, I never wanted to leave [‘Rhony’]!” she said. “People think I left. They put me on pause.”

During an “Ultimate Girls Trip” panel at BravoCon, Variety‘s Elizabeth Wagmeister asked producers about the legacy show — and while they didn’t reveal too much, executive producer Lisa Shannon suggested that the show is well on its way.

Viola Davis Claims Director Called Her by His Maid’s Name: ‘Those Micro-Aggressions Happen All the Time’
Image
Viola Davis has opened up about being mistakenly confused for a director’s housekeeper while on set.

During the Kering Women In Motion conversation at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, presented by Variety, award winner Davis revealed that a male director called her by his maid’s name decades ago.

“I had a director who did that to me. He said, ‘Louise!’ I knew him for 10 years, and he called me Louise and I find out that it’s because his maid’s name is Louise,” Davis remembered. “I was maybe around 30 at the time, so it was a while ago. But what you have to realize is that those micro-aggressions happen all the time.”

Davis, who founded the production company JuVee Productions with her husband Julius Tennon, discussed the lack of roles for darker-skinned Black women in both the TV and film landscapes, citing the inherent colorism in Hollywood.

How Disney Synergy Will Promote This Year’s Oscars — and Also Use It to Drive Viewers to ‘The Kardashians’ (Exclusive)
Image
The Walt Disney Co. synergy is back at work to build awareness and viewership for this year’s Oscars on ABC — and in turn, drive some of that audience back to its series and properties.

During the Academy Awards — hosted on Sunday by Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall — viewers will notice spots for series, with a priority on freshman ABC comedy “Abbott Elementary” and the network’s return of reality competition series “American Idol,” celebrating its 20th anniversary. Hulu priorities include the limited series “The Dropout,” starring Amanda Seyfried, and the new unscripted series “The Kardashians,” which premieres April 14.

But meanwhile, in the days leading up to this year’s Oscars ceremony, various arms of the Disney behemoth will promote the kudocast in ways such as a fantasy Oscar Pick ‘Em game on ESPN.com; marathons of Oscar-nominated and -winning films through the years on Freeform, FX and...

Wendy Williams Not Returning to Talk Show This Season, as Sherri Shepherd Nears Deal for Her Own Show
Image
Wendy Williams will not be returning to her daytime talk show this season, but the future of her show remains in flux, Variety has learned.

Meanwhile, Sherri Shepherd is in advanced discussions with Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury for her own daytime talk show, which could potentially replace Williams’ series, sources say.

Currently in its 13th season, “The Wendy Williams Show” is one of the biggest hits in daytime TV history. Launching in national syndication from Debmar-Mercury in 2008, the show was built around Williams, who, at the time the show premiered, was a popular radio host known for her no-holds-barred take on celebrity gossip.

Williams has been absent from her show all this season, as she has been battling ongoing health issues. Williams suffers from Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder.

While Williams has been gone from her talk show in 2021 and 2022, guest hosts have filled in for her throughout this entire season,...
