Pedro Fontaine(I)
- Actor
- Producer
- Director
Born in Santiago, Chile, Pedro is a theatre, film, and television actor and director. He began making his way in the DIY indie film scene as an actor and producer, and was awarded a merit scholarship from the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse acting conservatory in New York, where he graduated.
He is skilled at diving into complex characters, combining depth, humour and emotional range. He also masters a range of dialects.
Pedro gave a tender, quietly devastating performance as a heartbroken wanderer in the arthouse indie "He Hated Pigeons".
His breakout role came as a darkly magnetic, tormented ex-air force cadet, seduced by political violence and a steamy love triangle in Andrés Woods "Spider", opposite Spanish star María Valverde.
He plays a comedic role as Miles Heizers charismatic, sexually ambiguous love interest in "Ex Husbands", opposite James Norton and starring Griffin Dunne.
He earned a Premio Caleuche nomination for his portrayal of a charming intellectual turned revolutionary leader in Amazon Primes "Vencer o Morir", opposite Nicolás Furtado and Mariana DiGirolamo.
Pedro also appears as a likeable troublemaker and small-time dealer fighting for his innocence in the hit murder mystery series "Secretos de Familia".
In the upcoming, unhinged thriller "The Reborn", he plays a conflicted low-life doctor, dragged back into danger by his past.
His debut as a director was with "Una Isla Brillante", a short film that premiered at POFF Shorts and won Best Film at Espacio Queer Film Festival and Hanoi Queer Film Week.
He is set to appear in a few upcoming projects, such as the recently announced Amazon Originals remake of the literary classic "House of Spirits", and the Cuba-set period romantic drama "Coolie".
