Back in 2023, Harrison took a look at developer Atmos Games’ Twisted Tower, a “Willy Wonka meets BioShock” game that cranks up the creepy and the horror of the former, while also combining the visual aesthetics of the latter. And now you’ll have your chance to experience it all for yourself, as Atmos Games and publisher 3D Realms have released a demo for Twisted Tower on Steam.
“I’ve been working on this game for three years, alongside a super talented crew of 3D artists, developers, and my publisher 3D Realms,” says creator Thomas Brush. “This project was not without it’s difficulties. It started as a completely different concept, and after disposing of pretty much every asset in the game 2 or 3 times over, we finally figured out what this game is.”

“My philosophy for making games is that I have this thing I call: ‘The Trinity Hook,” explains indie developer Thomas Brush.
“What that means is that any project I’m working on has to appeal to the audience on three separate levels. First of all, it needs to have a decent story hook. Then, it needs to have a strong visual hook and finally, it needs to have a gripping mechanical hook. You’ve got to tick all three of those boxes. Otherwise it’s not worth doing.”
Just from a glance, you can see how these guiding principles helped shape the vision for Brush’s latest: Twisted Tower. Indeed, as we sit down with the charismatic creator, it’s evident that he has given a lot of serious thought to how he plans on meeting that self-imposed criteria.
And it’s a discipline that seems to have paid off in spades!
