Grey's Anatomy fans are experiencing an upheaval with the happier exit of Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) and the tragic one of Mika Ysauda (Midori Francis) happening back to back. The latter may now be one of Grey's Anatomy's saddest exits, as Mika decides that she can no longer work at Grey Sloan as it is haunted by Chloe (Julia Rose), her sister who was killed in a horrific car crash. After her own recovery, attempting to return to work, and having a terrible, enlightening day, Mika breaks up with Jules (Adelaide Kane) and walks out the hospital's doors for good.
Grey's Anatomy is notorious for heartrending character deaths, the most common way to write a character out of the show in the early seasons, but it has become rarer in recent years.

Grey’s Anatomy had said farewell to another series regular.
Midori Francis’ surgical intern Mika Yasuda scrubbed in to Seattle’s Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for the last time on Thursday, after joining the show at the start of season 19.
The eighth episode of season 21 — also the fall finale of the hit ABC medical drama, which returns March 6, 2025 — picked up after Jake Borelli’s Dr. Levi Schmitt also departed Grey’s Anatomy. Yasuda’s younger sister, Chloe (Julia Rose Gruenberg), tragically died after a horrible car accident when Yasuda fell asleep at the wheel after pulling an all-nighter at the hospital. The combination of Chloe’s wounds from the accident and the impact of chemo on her body from treating her cancer proved to be fatal, and Chloe died from her injuries.

“Grey’s Anatomy” lost a major cast member during its Season 21 fall finale, and left another one in grave danger ahead of a long winter break.
Episode 8, titled “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” saw a grief-stricken Mika Yasuda (Midori Francis) returned to work after the death of her younger sister in the previous episode. They had both been involved in a car accident when Mika fell asleep at the wheel. In the end, the guilt she had over her sister’s death was not enough for Mika to stick around and continue her job as a surgical intern. She had packed her locker and said goodbye for good by the end of the eventful hour.
And she left plenty of heartbreak in her wake. Mika struggled during a code blue situation with Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), when she...

“Grey’s Anatomy” began saying goodbye to Dr. Levi Schmitt in this week’s episode — while teasing a potential tragic ending for Dr. Mika Yasuda.
Fans have expected to bid farewell to cast members Jake Borelli and Midori Francis, who play Drs. Schmitt and Yasuda, respectively, since reports surfaced earlier this year that both would exit the ABC medical drama sometime in Season 21. While both actors have taken part in substantial storylines this season so far, Thursday’s hour solidified one of the goodbyes as a potential happy ending, while the other doctor might not make it out alive.
Episode 6, titled “Night Moves,” followed as the Grey Sloan Memorial hospital doctors did their typical juggling of tense medical cases with personal troubles. As he considered a medical research opportunity in Texas, Levi spent the hour being wooed by Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Dr.

Just as we got a relationship that we could get behind, Grey’s Anatomy has thrown us a curveball. What can we expect in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 4?
Now, let’s be honest, we knew that Midori Francis was leaving the series. That meant we weren’t really sold on the Mika/Jules romance. That didn’t mean we don’t want or need it, but when you announce a character is leaving, we rule out personal connections lasting.
Now it looks like we have that exit storyline. Here’s what we can expect.
It’s all about Mika’s little sister in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 4
At the end of the previous episode, Mika shared with Jules that her sister had been diagnosed with rectal cancer. It’s time to find out how bad that is, especially considering she is only 22. The promo makes it clear that things aren’t looking great,...

Sophia Bush is scrubbing into Grey’s Anatomy! Find out who she’s playing in the hit drama here!
Grey’s Anatomy has a great habit of bringing in some good actors for recurring roles that often turn into regulars. Last season, Natalie Morales joined the show as Dr. Monica Beltran, who’s now a regular face. The Season 21 premiere brought back Dr. Sydney Heron (Kali Rocha), who hadn’t been seen since Season 7. Her return was short-lived, as the latest episode had Heron departing when Bailey took back her job.
Grey’s will undergo a cast shift soon as Midori Francis will soon be departing as intern Mika Yasuda. An upcoming episode introduces Mika’s sister Chloe (Julia Rose), who checks in as a patient, and this could be a plotline to write off the character.
