Pittaya Saechua, Ophat Supatat, Chukiat Eiamsook, Paweenut Pangnakorn, Chantavit Dhanasevi, and Kanyawee Songmuang in 404 Run Run (2024)
404 Run Run Movie Ending Explained: Can Lalita and Nakrob Truly Let Go and Find Peace?
Pittaya Saechua, Ophat Supatat, Chukiat Eiamsook, Paweenut Pangnakorn, Chantavit Dhanasevi, and Kanyawee Songmuang in 404 Run Run (2024)
404 Run Run is a Thai horror-comedy that masterfully blends supernatural chills with offbeat humor. The story centers on Nakrob, a struggling house flipper desperate to salvage both his collapsing business and his rocky relationship with his girlfriend, Lyn. In a last-ditch effort to turn things around, he buys the notoriously haunted Sukhee Nirun Hotel—best known for the grisly murder-suicide involving Lalita, who killed her husband Ong-ard in room 404 before ending her own life.

As Nakrob and his eccentric renovation crew move in, what begins as a hopeful business venture quickly spirals into a nightmare. They find themselves caught in a chaotic loop of hauntings, possessions, and ghostly mayhem. Despite their frantic (and often ridiculous) attempts to exorcise the spirits, nothing seems to work. In the end, they discover that breaking the curse requires more than brute force—it demands understanding, compassion, and a different kind of courage.

Pearl (2022) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
The Pearl episode of Revisited was Written and Narrated by Vannah Taylor, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

If there’s one thing Ti West continues to nail, it’s a retro aesthetic. Throughout his filmography, West channels the essence of ‘70s and ‘80s horror films, not only in the visual style he achieves through his attention to detail when it comes to production design, his frequent use of natural lighting and minimalist sound design but through his abilities as a storyteller. Films such as The Roost (2005), The House of the Devil (2009), and In a Valley of Violence (2016) can all be characterized by their sincere homages to the genres they are playing within while still exploring fresh, contemporary themes and bringing new twists to the table. His most recent endeavor, the X Trilogy, is no different. Not only did...

Where To Watch Each Movie In The X Film Series
Image
All three films of Ti West's X movies are streaming so fans can enjoy, X, Pearl, and MaXXXine from the comfort of their home. While each of these movies can be enjoyed as their own standalone horror experience, they combine to make for a compelling trilogy of deep themes expanding across all three installments. X marked the first movie in the trilogy, as the murderous Pearl (Mia Goth) tries and fails to kill Maxine (Mia Goth) and her crew of adult film workers.

Pearl highlights the titular character's tragic past as she attempts to achieve her dreams of stardom on that same farm in 1918. Unfortunately, the harsh reality of her world ends up transforming her into the killer audiences see in X, adding a new element to the first film. MaXXXine is the final entry in the trilogy, bringing back Goth's protagonist from the first movie as she...

A24's Highest-Rated 2024 Horror Movie Gets Mixed Response From Audiences
Image
One of the year's A24 horror movies received a mixed response from audiences in spite of winning over critics. A24 is an independent entertainment company that has risen to prominence throughout the 2010s and become more or less synonymous with an offbeat brand of low budget cinema. Their releases encompass many genres and levels of critical and commercial response, including the sci-fi action movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, which won the Oscar for Best Picture, and the dystopian war drama Civil War, which is their most expensive project with a budget of $50 million and grossed $126.1 million worldwide.

A24 horror movies are among the most notorious of the company's output. Many have been successful with both critics and audiences, including Talk to Me, Ti West's X trilogy, and Ari Aster's Hereditary and Midsommar. However, others have earned the company a reputation for misrepresenting dark dramas as having more horrific elements than they truly do,...

House of the Dragon contains a wealth of characters, each with their own diverse origins and rich histories. This is partially what gives the show its staying power, as even its most minor character possesses a depth that other shows lack. One character in particular though is the first true hint of a nation in the world of Westeros that fans have been eager to explore in greater detail. Kevin Bacon Decided It ‘Sucks’ to Not Be Recognized After Wearing Prosthetics: ‘I Want to Go Back to Being Famous’
Image
Kevin Bacon has no desire to go back to living a normal life.

The iconic actor, who has been in Hollywood for decades, told Vanity Fair that he went undercover with fake teeth, a prosthetic nose, and glasses to feel how it was to not be famous for a day. Turns out, he didn’t enjoy it.

“I’m not complaining, but I have a face that’s pretty recognizable,” Bacon said. “Putting my hat and glasses on is only going to work to a certain extent. [So] I went to a special effects makeup artist, had consultations, and asked him to make me a prosthetic disguise.”

Bacon went to The Grove shopping mall in Beverly Hills while in his disguise. There, he was treated just like any other shopper.

“Nobody recognized me,” Bacon said. “People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I...

Does 'MaXXXine' Have an End-Credits Scene?
Image
Ti Wests trilogy centered around Maxine Minx (Mia Goth) and her pursuit of fame concludes with MaXXXine, a neon-soaked tribute to gritty 1980s Los Angeles, which actually does have an end-credit scene. Following X and the prequel Pearl, the nostalgic slasher with noir undertones takes place during the Night Stalker's real-life series of L.A. killings. We explore horror in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles, bright studio backlots, and shady houses in the Hollywood Hills. Will anything get in the way of Maxines big break in a mainstream horror outing? The X trilogy as a whole is a stunning showcase of filmmaker Ti Wests ability to capture different eras and settings. X evokes the grimy underground feel of the late-1970s Golden Age of porn, while Pearl is set in 1918 rural America in the emerging silent film era and MaXXXine becomes a neon-soaked horror-noir.

X (2022) Review
Image
With the release of Ti West’s Maxxxine just around the corner, it felt high time that we covered the preceeding two films before giving our verdict on the third. So let’s start at the beginning (release dates-wise) with X.

Set in 1979, X follows a group of aspiring pornographers who venture to a secluded Texas farmhouse to shoot an adult film, only to find themselves embroiled in a nightmarish ordeal.

From the outset, West’s direction shines, capturing the essence of the era with meticulous detail. And this has been a strength of his since the opening sequence of House of the Devil (2009), which was saturated in 80’s nostalgia. With X, the cinematography mirrors the aesthetic of 1970s horror films, characterised by a grainy texture and muted color palette that evoke a sense of decay and desolation. This visual style, combined with the isolated rural setting, immediately draws intentional...

MaXXXine Director Teases Gruesome Deaths In Latest Sequel
Image
Ti West teases gruesome deaths in upcoming film MaXXXine, but says it's broader in horror compared to X. West believes his films appeal to non-horror fans, including star Elizabeth Debicki who enjoyed MaXXXine. Fans can expect a star-studded cast and an 80s Hollywood setting when MaXXXine hits theaters on July 5, 2024.

The third film in the acclaimed X franchise from Ti West is just under a month away from its theatrical release, and while the director recently teased some of the films' more gruesome deaths, he doesnt necessarily consider MaXXXine to be on the same level in terms of horror as previous entries in the franchise. X debuted in 2022 and was quickly followed by the prequel film, Pearl, later that year. To date, the two movies have grossed a combined total of $25.2 million dollars against a budgeted total of $3 million, and have gone on to be regarded as some of the...

"I'm A Star": MaXXXine's Callback To Mia Goth's Famous Pearl Scene Teases A Major Trilogy Payoff
Image
Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers for X and Pearl.

MaXXXine features callbacks to X and Pearl, with Maxine's "You're a movie star" line linking the two films' characters' mental states. Maxine's pursuit of stardom in MaXXXine resembles Pearl's descent into madness from not becoming a movie star. MaXXXine's trailer hints at Maxine becoming the Night Stalker killer, potentially rewriting history and echoing Pearl's fate.

Ti West's upcoming MaXXXine features many subtle callbacks to his previous two films, but one line in particular is the strongest parallel between the movies. West's MaXXXine will be the third entry in A24's horror trilogy, and it will serve as the conclusion to X protagonist Maxine Minx's story. While MaXXXine's trailer treats audiences to many brief glimpses of what to expect, one line in particular proves a deeper connection between Mia Goth's Maxine and a famous scene from 2022's Pearl.

MaXXXine's Trailer Sets Up The Perfect Night Stalker Twist For Mia Goth's Character
Image
MaXXXine introduces a 1980s LA setting and Night Stalker twist, potentially subverting horror expectations in West's trilogy conclusion. The real-life Night Stalker's troubled childhood could connect to Maxine, hinting at a possible chilling twist in MaXXXine. Maxine's obsession with fame and troubling behavior in X could suggest she has the potential to become the Night Stalker in the sequel.

Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers for Ti West's X and Pearl.

Ti West’s MaXXXine sets July release date
Mia Goth
The final entry in Ti West’s decades-spanning slasher trilogy will arrive this summer, with Mia Goth in the lead role for MaXXXine.

Time can play some strange tricks on our minds. Although it’s been just two years since Ti West regaled us with X, the seedy period slasher film that launched his era-hopping horror trilogy, it paradoxically seems like we’ve been waiting for this film for a long time.

MaXXXine will mark the third entry in Ti West’s series of acclaimed slasher films and Mia Goth will once again star.

2022 gave us X, and in the same year he also released Pearl, with both films attracting considerable buzz for their stylish approach to the slasher genre.

Ti West and A24, the studio behind the films announced MaXXXine all the way back in September of 2022, following X's release and before we’d even seen Pearl. Since then,...

The A24 Horror Film Serving Screams To Netflix's Top 10
Image
Netflix viewers are an unpredictable bunch. One minute they'll lap up a truly abject Michael Fassbender thriller, the next they'll propel the excellent "Dredd" into the Netflix Top 10. The only logical conclusion to all this is that in the age of streaming, we'll pretty much watch anything as our senses are slowly dulled by a never ending supply of "content." A24 and Ti West's 2022 effort is a slick and stunning original slasher which actually enjoyed a good critical response upon release. 94% on Rotten Tomatoes ain't bad, after all. While you might not expect a film about an elderly woman who lays waste...
