The fourth season of the US remake of Ghostsis well underway, with the hit comedy continuing its upward trajectory in quality. After the UK original officially ended on Christmas Day in 2023, there has been a hilarious spiritual hole in the comedy landscape. However, that hole is set to be filled down under, with an Australian version of Ghosts officially announced back in September 2024. Produced by Paramount Australia and BBC Studios Production Australia, Ghosts Australia has finally had its biggest update yet, with filming officially underway in sunny Perth.

The upcoming remake of sitcom Ghosts in Australia is shooting in Perth, with the cast list taking shape.

The eight-part series, announced last year, is from BBC Studios Australia and will be for Network 10 and Paramount+. It’s filming on set and on location in Western Australia, with actor talent including Mandy McElhinney and Brent Hill, and investment from Screenwest and the state’s Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive.

Like other versions of Ghosts, the plot revolves around a couple who inherit a huge and historic mansion in the countryside, with Tamala playing Kate and Rowan Witt appearing as her partner, Season.

After Kate has a near-death experience, she gains the power to see ghosts, who get up to supernatural shenanigans around the mansion.

London, July 7 (Ians) Global technology brand Honor has announced the global launch of the ‘Honor 90’ series, which comes with impressive features.

The new series includes two smartphones — Honor 90 and Honor 90 Lite.

The final season of Sbs’s The Family Law, the first series of ABC’s The Heights and the Sbs miniseries The Hunting have won the 10th annual Equity Ensemble Awards.

The actors who starred in these programs were voted the most outstanding Australian small screen ensembles in their respective categories by the Meaa Equity National Performers’ Committee (Npc).

Equity president Chloe Dallimore, who was among the 33 Npc members who selected this year’s finalists and winners, said: “I can’t think of a better way to spend lockdown than re-watching the incredible small screen performances of the last 12 months. What phenomenal talent we have in this country, both in front and behind the camera.

“It emphasised what’s at stake if we don’t continue to vigorously defend our local content quotas, and why we must continue to remind our government how the arts contribute to our Australian cultural identity.

For a guy who fell into acting after he badly injured one leg at high school in Brisbane, George Pullar is carving out an impressive career.

Now 22, Pullar made his screen debuts in Goalpost Pictures’ Fighting Season and Seven Studios’ A Place to Call Home straight after graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Waapa).

Following that he played a star Afl recruit in Screentime’s Playing For Keeps, which Network 10 has renewed for next year.

Capping a memorable year, he was named among the Casting Guild of Australia’s 10 Rising Stars, together with Michael Sheasby, Harry Greenwood, Tess Haubrich, Markella Kavenagh, George Zhao, Milly Alcock, Kimie Tsukakoshi, Harvey Zielinski and Alexandra Jensen.

Nikki Barrett and Anousha Zarkesh won multiple prizes at the Casting Guild of Australia Awards presented last Friday in Melbourne.

Barrett received the awards for her work in See Pictures/Gran Via Productions/Windalong Productions’ Breath (best casting in a feature film), Easy Tiger’s Jack Irish series 2 (TV drama) and Fremantle Australia’s Picnic at Hanging Rock (TV miniseries and telemovie).

Zarkesh took home the awards for Princess Pictures’ Wrong Kind of Black (best achievement in casting) and Scarlett Pictures’ Black Comedy series 3 (TV comedy).

“We had a lucky year in that all three of these projects were very collaborative casting processes with the filmmakers actively engaged in trying to find something true to the world they were creating. It’s always the best kind of casting to be involved in and shows on screen,” Barrett tells If.

The casting directors of 1%, Breath, Sweet Country and The Merger are the finalists in the feature film category of the Casting Guild of Australia Awards.

The Cga has also announced the 10 winners of this year’s Rising Stars awards, who are nominated by Cga members and chosen by a committee comprising Kirsty McGregor, Nikki Barrett, Anousha Zarkesh, Tom McSweeney, Faith Martin and Nathan Lloyd.
