Christine Rose Schermerhorn
- Actress
Christine Rose Schermerhorn (She/They) is a black, non-binary, transgender woman who made her way to New York City after growing up in a very small, census-designated region called Stony Ridge in Northwest Ohio. Her love for entertainment started in the late 1990s when her birth mother (who was pursuing acting and working as background talent in Burbank, California) took Christine to set with her.
She made her film debut in New York City after studying at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts- a conservatory that has several notable alumni including Robert Redford, Grace Kelly, and Paul Rudd. Not long afterward, she appeared in TruTV's popular improvisation comedy, Impractical Jokers opposite comedian James Murray (Murr). After spending a few years in New York City, she relocated to Los Angeles, California. She appeared in multiple episodes of the short- lived daytime crime drama Corrupt Crimes, played Calvin in Henry Danger on Nickelodeon, portrayed Braxton in the movie Miss Arizona (available on Peacock), appeared on ABC's The Rookie, starred in the indie-comedy Divos (available on Amazon Prime Video), and recurred as Valerie on seasons 1 and 2 of Puppy Place (Apple TV+). More Recently, she played the recurring role of Nonny Haybert in the Netflix animated series Dee and Friends in Oz, and guest starred in Star Trek: Prodigy as Ion. She played Emari in Concord (Firewalk Studios x Sony) and though its release was short-lived, it stamped her in history as the first black, openly transgender woman to play a cisgender leading role on a triple A title. Additionally, you can see her star in Thirsty Suitors (Outerloop Games & Annapurna Interactive) which rose to critical acclaim gaining a GLAAD Media Award nomination, a BAFTA nomination, and a Tribeca Film Festival win. Nowadays, she really does have her dream career!
She is a proud LGBTQIA+ performer who will continue to play dynamic characters while being visibly transgender. Representation in media can garner more acceptance, safety, and mutual respect, which every person deserves.
