Ogunquit Playhouse has revealed the full cast and creative for the reimagining of High Society, directed by Matt Lenz, with Cole Porter’s timeless tunes, which begins performances Thursday, July 24 with a limited run through August 23, 2025. Well, the show must keep on rolling…rolling. Ari Groover, who is an understudy for Tina: The Tina Turner Musical on Broadway, shared a clip of her wig flying off during the March 18 performance as she hit the signature dance moves from Tina Turner's 1971 hit, "Proud Mary." Without missing a step, Groover, who usually plays the character Alline, quickly picked up the wig, threw it to the side and kept performing right on beat. "And sometimes you just gotta dance your wig right on off!!!!" she captioned the March 20 Instagram video. "This Tina was Live Huney!!! Update, with additional cast Adrienne Warren will be joined by her original Broadway principal cast mates of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical when the show returns to the stage in October. Among the actors now confirmed to return are Tony Award nominee Daniel J. Watts as Ike Turner.

When the musical reopens at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Friday, Oct. 8, the principal cast will include Warren, Watts, Dawnn Lewis as Zelma, Nkeki Obi-Melekwe as Tina Turner at some performances, Tony Award nominee Myra Lucretia Taylor as Gran Georgeanna and Jessica Rush as Rhonda.

Stage actor and writer Sidney DuPont has gathered a group of Broadway and Off Broadway performers to launch “The Walkout Project,” a movement to urge the exclusive patronage of Black-owned businesses on July 4.

DuPont and a large ensemble that includes Hamilton’s Tamar Greene and Jared Dixon have recorded the new song and music video “Walkout,” dropping tomorrow on the holiday.

“Black people have lived in fear,” DuPont said in a statement. “We have been methodically, systematically, and socially conditioned to make white people feel comfortable. We have done this to elevate in the workplace, for better housing opportunities, and for the basic safety of our lives and our Black children’s lives. And yet still, we are killed, beaten, and heavily policed. The Walkout Project was created by artists to cancel out the mentality of white comfortability...

The Off Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, already sold out well before its first preview on Sept. 17, has released an additional eight weeks of tickets, producers announced today. Tickets for the landmark Howard Ashman & Alan Menken musical, set for the Westside Theatre and starring Jonathan Groff, Tammy Blanchard and Christian Borle, are now on sale through Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, Little Shop officially opens on Thursday, October 17. As previously announced, Tony nominee Gideon Glick (To Kill A Mockingbird) will join the production for a two-week (November 5 through November 17) as Seymour while Groff is on a scheduled leave.

Also in the cast: Tom Alan Robbins, Kingsley Leggs, Ari Groover, Salome Smith, Joy Woods, Stephen Berger, Chris Dwan, Kris Roberts, Chelsea Turbin, Eric Wright, and Teddy Yudain.
