Kim Gordon in New York: See Photos From ‘The Collective’ Tour
Image
Kim Gordon is at the height of her powers right now, making music that’s both noisy and liberating, and unremittingly challenging any expectations that listeners still have for her. That sentence could have been written at various points in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, when she was pushing boundaries as a founding member of Sonic Youth — but it feels especially true right here in the 2020s, after the release this spring of her sol0 tour-de-force The Collective. On March 23, Gordon played the Knockdown Center in Queens, New York, and...

‘Nancy Drew’ Series Finale Sneak Peek: Who is Her Soulmate? (Video)
Image
No offense, Tristan, but nope. You are not our girl’s endgame. At least, you better not be! As the habitually wonderful, spooky-ooky adaptation of the Carolyn Keene’s Nancy Drew novels comes to a too-soon close on August 23, Nancy (Kennedy McMann) is still being kept from her Otl Ace (Alex Saxon) because it turns out, she and Tristan (Henry Zaga) share a centuries-old connection that has bound their souls together. Because, of course, just having a death curse placed on Nace that prevents them from ever being together isn’t bad enough. Ya gotta go and have a soulmate who is also a Sin Eater with perfect hair. Colin Bentley/The CW In TV Insider’s exclusive clip from the series finale, “The Light Between Lives,” Nancy comes to after having a series of visions that clue her in to why she and Tristan seem to be so entangled.

Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 10 Review: The Ballad of Lives Foregone
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
Nancy Drew has the most horrible luck when it comes to love.

Her former boyfriend, Owen, was killed. Then Ace died during her hallucination and then fell under Temperance's death curse.

And now on Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 10 Nancy shot Tristan with a crossbow and almost killed him.

Oh, and we failed to mention that Tristan is actually a sin eater and, even without the poison arrow, is still fated to die before he's 30 years old.

To think that Nancy was attracted to the gorgeous lobsterman because she thought he was uncomplicated. The Universe definitely has a sick sense of humor.

One of the only low points of this installment was that there was far too much Tristan. Yes, the guy has the most adorable eyes I've ever seen, but he's not Ace, and I'm a diehard Nace shipper.

The more time Tristan is around correlates directly to the...

Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 5 Review: The Oracle of the Whispering Remains
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
So does anyone think Nancy and Ace will go their separate ways and find new love after Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 5?

Yeah. Me, either.

Does Ace really believe that an epic love story like his and Nancy's will come around twice in a lifetime, and for both of them, no less? Or is he simply making the best out of a horrifically bad situation?

I'm really not sure. Ace can be difficult to read at times.

But he certainly was an easy read when he couldn't take his eyes off of Nancy or how hurt he was that Nancy could barely look at him.

They're both in so much pain. And as much as I feel for them, I feel worse for the fans because it is excruciating watching not only Ace and Nancy accept that they're going to be apart but also all of the friends who care about them.

Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 4 Review: The Return of the Killer's Hook
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
Breakups are never easy, and the one between Nancy and Ace is agonizing.

The word heartbreaking doesn't seem to scratch the surface of the Nace split. We're only to Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 4 and we've already endured a rollercoaster of emotions.

Nancy Drew has masterfully combined mysteries, drama, and love stories that have culminated in a final season that has us on the edge of our seats.

But I must admit, I hate this. With every fiber of my being, I hate seeing Nancy and Ace apart and hurting. The only saving grace is that I believe we will get an incredible payout in the end for surviving this type of angst-filled torture.

But if this installment is anything to go by, they're really going to make us work for it.

As much as I loved the Drew Crew checking in with Nancy, and George's message was my favorite...

Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 3 Review: The Danger of the Hopeful Sigil
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
Since it's only Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 3, on some level, we had to know it would turn out this way.

Because what writers in their right mind would allow their star couple to break a love curse only three episodes into the season?

But knowing we should have expected it doesn't make it hurt any less.

Oh, and talk about pain.

In this one hour, they gave Nace fans many of the moments we'd been hoping to see, only to snatch it all away.

But let's concentrate on the good stuff first. We'll need that to make it through to the next installment.

Did we care that Nancy and Ace had failed to break the curse 36 times already? No, because they were working on it together, giving them opportunities to talk.

Ace: Are you still scared?

Nancy: Yeah. Having you here helps. Are you scared?

Ace: I should be. I’m cursed.

Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 1 Review: The Dilemma of the Lover's Curse
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
As if knowing the beloved series was coming to an end wasn’t difficult enough, Drew Crew fans were forced to wait a torturous year and four months for the final season to begin.

Somehow, we managed to survive without any charms or protection spells to help us -- at least as far as I know -- and Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 1 has finally arrived!

It was filled with things that made us smile, like Nancy in a floral crown, Ace with gorgeous hair, and a My Two Dads breakfast. Add in Bess and Addy making out, a heartfelt talk between Nick and George, and Ryan getting his Porsche back, and we’re more than ready to dive into the latest season of Nancy Drew.

Let’s take it from the top.

It’s been five weeks since Nancy found the eight empty graves in the cemetery. Five weeks! Why...

Kim Gordon’s Body/Head Surprise-Release New EP Come On: Stream
Image
Body/Head, Kim Gordon’s duo with experimental guitarist Bill Nace, have surprise-released a new EP titled Come On. Stream it below via Bandcamp.

According to the EP’s description, the Sonic Youth co-founder and Nace “assembled” Come On from “a combination of old and new parts.” The 4-track project layers the latter’s droning guitars with Gordon’s lurching bass as her eerie vocals cut through the mix. Pick up a digital copy here. The limited edition vinyl is sold out for now, but check Open Mouth Records’ Bandcamp page for new stock coming soon.

Come On follows 2021’s Body/Dilloway/Head, Gordon and Nace’s team-up with former Wolf Eyes member Aaron Dilloway. Body/Head’s last album was 2018’s The Switch.

In May 2022, Gordon linked with Bikini Kill guitarist Erica Dawn Lyle and The Raincoats drummer Vice Cooler for the charity single “Debt Collector,” a track from...
