Truck entry into Delhi banned, govt offices to run with 50 capacity: Gopal Rai

New Delhi, Nov 4 (Ians) The Delhi government on Friday banned the entry of trucks other than essential services in the national capital following the introduction of Grap IV, and also set up a 6-member committee to monitor truck entry in the city.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai said: “Only Cng and electric trucks will be allowed to enter Delhi other than those serving essential services. The Delhi government has constituted a 6-member monitoring committee to oversee the same.”

Addressing a press briefing, he also said that the Delhi government’s offices will run at 50 percent capacity while 50 percent employees will work from home and 500 new eco-buses will be run in the state.

A special task force will be formed for the hotspots, while a total of 33 teams have also been formed to monitor industrial pollution.

Delhi air quality remains in 'very poor' category

New Delhi, Nov 2 (Ians) The air quality of Delhi on Wednesday entered in the “very poor” category, according to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (Safar), and will remain the same on Thursday also.

However, the Safar also stated that the air quality in Noida may dip into the “severe” category with Pm 2.5 levels expected to reach 415.

With deteriorating air quality, the city doctors have also advised people, especially children and senior citizens, to be indoors. The severe category of air quality calls for health warnings of emergency conditions and even serious risk of respiratory effects in the general public.

Delhi Environment Minister, Gopal Rai also appealed to people to work from home and avoid using private vehicles, amid rising pollution levels in the city.

In Pusa, the Aqi was recorded at 359 “very poor” category while Pm 10 was reported at 269 under “poor” category.

Total 173 lumpy virus cases detected in cattle in Delhi: Minister

New Delhi, Sep 10 (Ians) As many as 173 cases of lumpy virus have been detected so far in cattle in the capital city, Minister for Environment, Forest & Wildlife, Gopal Rai said here on Saturday.

It includes 45 cows from Gol Dairy, 16 from Najafgarh area, 40 in the Rewla Khanpur area, and some others from adjacent villages, he said.

While addressing the media here, he said that most of the cases have been found in South and West District of national capital Delhi. The lumpy virus has been also found in neighbouring states of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, he added.

Addressing the media, Rai said the Delhi government has deployed two mobile veterinary clinics and set up 11 rapid response teams to collect samples. Four teams have been formed to create awareness about the infection, he added.

The city government has also set up a special control room with helpline number 8287848586 for queries related to lumpy virus.
