The upcoming film Slotherhouse is capitalizing on the current trend of B-horror movies going big and finding success. With horror comedies like Cocaine Bear and Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey reaching mainstream attention, it was only a matter of time before other animal-themed B-horror movies found their way to the big screen. While audiences may be asking "Why?", Gravitas Ventures is asking "Why not?", as the latest slated production, Slotherhouse, combines two highly beloved horror staples: a killer animal and a sorority.

Many filmgoers probably figured they'd seen the wildest movie of the year to feature a killer animal when Cocaine Bear was released, but there's a new horror-comedy in town with a much more outlandish concept.

Set to release later this month via Gravitas Ventures, Slotherhouse is a new film that's just as it sounds. It's a horror film that sets loose a killer sloth in a sorority house, and given the cuddly nature of the animal, it's very unbefitting of what people think they might know about the creature. Last month, we got a look at the trailer for the killer gopher horror comedy Caddy Hack, which is set to make its premiere at Kevin Smith’s Smodcastle theatre in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey on August 11th. The franchise reboot Jeepers Creepers: Reborn was given a three-day theatrical release back in September and a VOD release earlier this month (you can watch it on Amazon at This Link). Next up is a physical media release, with the movie set to reach Blu-ray and DVD on November 15th. Seems to me three weeks earlier would have been a better release date, so people could watch it in time for Halloween. But that’s what the VOD version is for, I suppose. The Creeper, from the 2001 horror film Jeepers Creepers, has always been in the Vanarama National League of cinematic bogeymen, but the batwing-faced old trouper still deserves better than this shoddy, aesthetically ugly reboot. It reprises the original redneck highway setup in its prologue, with two pensioners replacing Justin Long and Gina Phillips.
