But Plane is stifled by just how ordinary it is, and how closely it hews to the standard tropes of action films with longer, more descriptive – yet less ridiculous – titles.

Here, Butler is parachuted into the exact kind of cheap, vaguely racist action flick that dominated the Eighties and Nineties. He plays Brodie Torrance, a commercial pilot heading up a New Year’s Eve flight from Singapore to Tokyo. It’s a budget airline. There are only 14 passengers onboard – plus, of course, a convicted criminal named Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), who’s being transferred between prisons. Remi Adeleke has leveraged his time as a Navy Seal into on-screen roles where actual training actually convinces. Evan Dane Turner is (as many before him) making the transition from stunt performer to credible bad guy. He's not alone in that movement from sort of behind to sort of in front of the camera, Oliver Trevana and Claro de los Reyes might be on different sides of the aisle but are also both familiarly multi-hyphenate.

They had to hold their breath underwater for twenty seconds in a car until they were given the signal that they could unbuckle their seat belts and swim out. Special Forces: World's Toughest Test is different from other reality competition shows because it will not feature eliminations, which is great for the contestants. The only way for the celebrity recruits to leave the show is if they decide that they want to, either because they fail, or because they are injured. They could also be removed by force by one of the agents who will train them. However, unlike shows such as Big Brother or Survivor, during which fellow contestants vote each other out of the competition, Special Forces leaves it up to the individual to stay or go. On the show, the 16 celebrity recruits will be put through a series of demanding training exercises by directing staff agents Rudy Reyes, Mark Billingham, Jason Fox and Remi Adeleke, an elite team of ex-special forces operatives.

During the shoot of Lionsgate’s newest high-flying action movie “Plane,” Butler unintentionally rubbed phosphoric acid all over his face and described the terrible sensation of feeling like he was “burning alive.”

Hollywood star Gerard Butler, who is gearing up for the release of his film ‘Plane’, has described his character in the movie as a man on a mission, who will do everything in his capacity to save his passengers from the imminent danger.

His character of Brodie Torrance finds himself fighting for the safety of his passengers after an emergency landing in the film. ‘Plane’ captures the story of a commercial pilot and a convicted fugitive (Mike Colter) working together to safeguard their fellow passengers.

Talking about his character in the film, Butler said, “Torrance is a rich character. Though he has no tactical experience in combating dangerous rebels, he feels a deep responsibility towards his passengers, and to the daughter he is on his way to see. After the emergency landing, he’ll go above and beyond to protect his passengers and get them home. He’s a man on a mission.

The second trailer for Plane tosses in all the standard action film moments, with Gerard Butler and Mike Colter as the good guys and a group of rebels as the villains. And although it’s named Plane, most of the action appears to take place on the ground rather than in the air. (Maybe the sequel will be called Boat and take place on land?)
