The Best Non-Serial Killer Criminal Minds Episodes
Image
Criminal Minds has had an enduring tenure on television. The original era of Criminal Minds ran for 15 seasons and acquired a strong fanbase. The series would go on to be revived with Criminal Minds: Evolution continuing the series with additional seasons.

Criminal Minds follows a team of FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit profilers who investigate uniquely depraved cases committed by serial offenders. The Bau's specialty is serial killers, and those comprise a majority of cases depicted in Criminal Minds episodes. However, there are a few standout episodes that deviate from the serial killer norm. These episodes prove that Criminal Minds is a fascinating series, no matter the subject matter it's covering.

"Saturday" Sees the Team on a Day Off Work

"Saturday" is one of the most bold diversions from the standard Criminal Minds episode style. Instead of focusing on crime, "Saturday" focuses on the members of the Bau team on a rare day off.

Smashing Pumpkins Reveal Kiki Wong as Their New Guitarist After Nationwide Search
Image
After receiving over 10,000 applications in their nationwide search for a new guitarist, the Smashing Pumpkins revealed Friday the newest member of their band: Social media-famous guitarist Kiki Wong.

In January, the Pumpkins announced an open audition to fill the vacancy left by departing guitarist Jeff Schroeder, who had a 16-year tenure with Billy Corgan and company. Just two weeks later, the band said they received so many applications that it required “eight people working full-time to review each and every one.”

“Reviewing the work of these incredible musicians was a herculean,...

Smashing Pumpkins Name Kiki Wong As New Touring Guitarist
Image
Smashing Pumpkins have named Kiki Wong as their new touring guitarist.

Following the departure of longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder last October, frontman Billy Corgan put out an open call for his replacement. The band received more than 10,000 applicants, which Corgan then whittled down to a group of finalists who auditioned in-person in Los Angeles last month. He settled on Wong, a veteran guitarist who has performed with the likes of Taylor Swift, Usher, and Bret Michaels, as well as with rock bands Nylon Pink, Hellfire Heart, and currently, Vigil of War.

“Reviewing the work of these incredible musicians was a herculean, albeit worthy effort,” Corgan said in a statement. “First off, I really want to thank everyone who submitted materials for consideration. It wasn’t an easy decision with how much great guitar playing we were lucky enough to hear and see over the past few months.

The Smashing Pumpkins’ open call for a new guitarist has been a… smashing success. In a social media statement, the current trio of Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin announced they’ve received upwards of 10,000 applications for the gig.

“The band has received over 10,000 submissions for the position of additional guitarist,” Smashing Pumpkins wrote. “Currently, there are 8 people working full-time to review each and every one.”

This past October, the Pumpkins’ longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder announced he was leaving the group after over 15 years. “I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path,” he wrote at the time.

Smashing Pumpkins’ current lineup features Corgan on vocals/guitar, Iha on guitar, and Chamberlin on drums, along with touring bassist Jack Bates and multi-instrumentalist Katie Cole.

Whoever the Pumpkins pick will have to be a quick learner. This summer, the band will co-headline...
