Jack White Gifted First-Ever Cell Phone for 50th Birthday
Image
A baseball stadium-filled crowd singing him “Happy Birthday” (courtesy of John C. Reilly) wasn’t the only present Jack White received for his 50th birthday on Wednesday. As the musician shared on his Instagram, he was also gifted his first-ever cell phone.

“Well y’all it’s either all over for me now or just the beginning. I am now the reluctant owner of a cellular telephone for the first time in my life! A lovely 50th birthday present courtesy of my gorgeous and thoughtful wife Mrs. Olivia Jean,” White wrote. “I’ve been saying that my days were numbered for years, can’t listen to my music in my car, can’t park at a parking lot by myself because of Qr codes, etc. etc. and I guess Olivia decided to be kind and put me (and all my loved ones) out of my misery! I thought if I...

Jack White finally owns a cell phone — and it only took him 50 years to get one. The musician celebrated his milestone birthday on Wednesday by receiving an extra-special gift: his first-ever cell phone. “Well y’all it’s either all over for me now or just the beginning. The musician revealed that his wife and fellow musician, Olivia Jean, gave him the cell phone. He shared several photos taken by Jean,...

John C. Reilly Leads Detroit Tigers Stadium in Singing “Happy Birthday” to Jack White
Image
Jack White turned 50 years old on Wednesday, and the Detroit rocker celebrated with a Tigers ballgame alongside his wife Olivia Jean and mother Teresa Gillis. White’s friend, actor and musician John C. Reilly, happened to be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, but before doing so he grabbed a microphone and encouraged the entire stadium to join him in serenade White with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Based on his reaction, White looked equal parts shocked and embarrassed, but he seemed to take it all in stride.

In a subsequent interview with the Detroit Tigers’ broadcast, Reilly confirmed that White had no idea he would even be at the game — let alone leading an entire stadium in a singalong to celebrate his friend’s birthday.

Jack White’s ‘Entering Heaven Alive’ Is A Singer-Songwriter Therapy Session, In A Good Way
Image
“I don’t ask myself for nothing anymore/My peace is freedom from the masses,” Jack White declares on Entering Heaven Alive, his second new record of the year. As statements of purpose go, this one is hardly breaking news: Over the last two-plus decades, especially since the dissolution of the White Stripes, White has been seemingly unconcerned with maintaining any particular brand. Tinkering with his persona, sound, instrument of choice, and hair dye on a regular basis, he’s become blues-kid Jack, Clockwork Orange-droog Jack, just-a-guy-in-a-band Jack, just-a-drummer-in-a-band Jack,...

Jack White appeared on The Late Show to perform his recent track, “What’s the Trick?,” and to chat with Stephen Colbert about his career. Appearing with his band, White offered a gritty, raucous rendition of the bluesy song, off his new album Fear of the Dawn.

White sat down with Colbert to discuss Fear of the Dawn, as well as his recent surprise wedding to Olivia Jean and a piece of sage advice he once received from Prince. Third Man Records is preparing to release an unreleased Prince album...
