School will soon be back in session for FX. Four months after the show wrapped up its first season, it's now been revealed that there's more to come from the acclaimed new series English Teacher.

Per Deadline, English Teacher has officially been renewed by FX for Season 2. The news comes after the first season earned a near-perfect score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, drawing tremendously high acclaim from critics. The audience score for the series is also quite strong at 85%. With episodes available on Hulu, English Teacher would also find success by reaching No. 4 on Reelgood's TV streaming charts. The series has had several prestigious nominations at the Critics' Choice TV Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, and the Satellite Awards.

The offbeat comedy series debuted last September with just eight episodes, but earned such glowing reviews that production on future installments is now expected to begin later this month.

Deadline reports that FX has officially confirmed that English Teacher has been renewed for Season 2. The news follows TV Line's recentreport that the studio was on the verge of securing English Teacher's future, with production already slated to resume later this month.

English Teacher, a new sitcom with a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, has become a hit on streaming after just two episodes. The show hails from Brian Jordan Alvarez, the creator and executive producer, who viewers may recognize for his roles in shows like Jane the Virgin and the rebooted Will & Grace. He's also appeared in films such as 80 for Brady and the hit horror-comedy M3GAN. But with his new series, Alvarez is stepping into the lead role in an interesting way.

New data from Reelgood reveals that English Teacher is already making an impression on the streaming charts. The FX show, which streams on Hulu, took eighth place in the overall Top 10 for the week of August 29 through September 4, across all platforms. When looking only at television shows, however, the sitcom ranks higher and comes in fifth. Kaos, the new Netflix fantasy drama starring Jeff Goldblum, takes the top spot overall.

Director Marie Alice Wolfszahn’s Mother Superior has taken best feature in the main competition at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival with the abortion-focused anthology Give Me An A garnering the Gold Audience Award during the seventh edition of the festival.

Other main competition jury prize winners at Bhff, which ran from Oct. 13-20 with events held in Williamsburg and Prospect Park, included Wolfszahn for best director, Megalomaniac’s Eline Schumacher for best performance and a special jury mention for the Paolo Strippoli-directed Flowing.

The main competition jury, which was comprised of filmmaker Zach Clark, HuffPost Senior Culture Editor Candice Frederick and author Kate Robertson, lauded Mother Superior — a directorial debut from the Austrian Wolfszahn — as “a thoughtfully crafted folk story exploring the völkisch occult with a captivating aesthetic indebted to the gothic tradition and tight editing, each frame carefully considered.”
