Netflix has released the first photos from Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, a 2022 film based on a short story by Stephen King. Adapted and directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side), Mr. Harrigan’s Phone stars Donald Sutherland as Harrigan and Jaeden Martell as a young man who befriends the elderly Hannigan.

While most, but definitely not all, of Stephen King’s work scares the hell out of readers, Hancock describes this particular story as more of a cautionary fairy tale.

“More than anything, it’s about an odd relationship between a billionaire in his 80s and a [young man] and the bonds of friendship, and how far will you go for a friend?” writer/director Hancock said in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “Do you like Shawshank Redemption, do you like Stand By Me,...

‘Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin’ Review
Image
Stars: Emily Bader, Roland Buck III, Dan Lippert, Henry Ayres-Brown, Tom Nowicki, Jill Andre, Alexa Shae Niziak, Colin Keane, Ari Notartomaso | Written by Christopher Landon | Directed by William Eubank

I’ve always enjoyed the Paranormal Activity franchise. Obviously, the likes of Friday the 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream are more popular with horror fans. But even franchises such as Saw and Hellraiser are talked about more than the Paranormal Activity movies. And this is a shame because on the quality of films alone, Paranormal Activity is right at the top of the pile and there’s been no bigger found footage movie since The Blair Witch Project. It was safe to say that I was looking forward to Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin.

In Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, Margot travels to an Amish community to see her family and ask questions...

Official Trailer for 'Non-Gory' Horror Film 'The World is Full of Secrets'
"It's just the kind of terrible story that always happens to someone else..." An official trailer has arrived for an indie, low budget horror film titled The World is Full of Secrets, the feature directorial debut of NY-based filmmaker Graham Swon. This screened at BAMcinemaFest earlier in the summer, and it has played at numerous other festivals including Sarasota, Montclair, and the Champs-Élysées Film Festival. During a sleepover one night, teenage girls share stories with each other about things that frightened them. The film stars Ayla Guttman, Alexa Shae Niziak, Dennise Gregory, Violet Piper, and Elena Burger. This is one of those extra artsy films that is supposed to have that vintage look and feel. Too much blending in this trailer for me, not enough storytelling substance. Will it actually be scary or only eerie? Check it out below. Here's the first trailer (+ poster) for Graham Swon's The World is Full of Secrets,...
