Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming awards season film Train Dreams, and the brief teaser does an impressive job of estabishing a beautiful and melancholic atmosphere. The movie comes from the creative team of Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar, who are best known for writing the A24 movie Sing Sing, which Kwedar also directed. The movie earned three Academy Award nominations, which will undoubtedly help to generate even more excitement for their upcoming work on Train Dreams, a period piece that looks to be an examination of the changing landscape of America in the 1900s.
The brief one-and-a-half-minute trailer, which can be viewed below, does a great job of generating hype with all the prestigious talent assembled on either side of the camera. In a surprise move, the CBS daytime drama revealed a whole new cast, with some iconic roles being portrayed by two four-legged friends. The soap recently shared a fun video on its official Instagram account that cast the show’s actors’ pets in their roles, and the results could not be more adorable.
Set against the instantly recognizable “Nadia’s Theme,” the cats and dogs made their daytime debuts…or at least their social media daytime debuts.
The video’s caption reads, “We know this is sudden, but…isn’t our new cast WOOFderful?!

Joel Edgerton plays Robert Grainier, an early-20th century logger and railroad worker who faces a rapidly-changing America in the teaser trailer for director Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams, which dropped on Thursday.
Felicity Jones, who plays Gladys, Grainer’s wife, William H. Macy and Kerry Condon also star in Bentley’s drama that adapts Denis Johnson’s prize-winning novella. “I don’t know where the years go,” a meditative Grainer says at one point in the trailer amid scenes where he rides the rails or, long axe in hand, eyes giant trees to possibly chop down.
Macy, who plays Arn Peeples, an explosives expert, finds lyrical beauty in an early 20th century America where the outside world is fast closing in on their traditional, pastoral way of life. “This world is intricately stitched together, boys. Every thread we pull, we know not how it affects the design of things,...

Earlier this year, the historical drama Train Dreams was screened at the Sundance Film Festival – and that screening was a great success, resulting in not only rave reviews (including a 9/10 review from JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray) but also a distribution deal, with Netflix forking over $16 million for the rights. Today, a teaser trailer for Train Dreams has dropped online, and it can be seen in the embed above. Along with the teaser trailer comes the information that Netflix is planning to give the film a limited theatrical release on November 7th. It will make its way over to the streaming service two weeks later, on November 21st.

On Thursday, Netflix unveiled the teaser trailer for Train Dreams, directed by Clint Bentley and starring Joel Edgerton. The film premiered to critical acclaim at Sundance, currently holds a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and is already generating significant awards buzz. Bentley cowrote the screenplay with Greg Kwedar, marking their first collaboration since the Oscar-nominated Sing Sing.
What's The Plot?
The film follows Robert Grainier (Edgerton), a logger and railroad worker navigating life in the forests of the Pacific Northwest during early 20th-century America. It is adapted from Denis Johnson’s Pulitzer Prize finalist novella of the same name.
Bentley has previously described the film as, “a really special story and it feels very unique in that it is just about this one person’s life. This very simple life. Robert Grainier doesn’t do anything that really alters the course of history — he doesn’t fight in some great...

What makes a life extraordinary? There’s no set formula — it could be the things a person does, or it could be related to the times they live in. Or maybe the potential of living an extraordinary life is within all of us, even the most ordinary of people.
Train Dreams tells the story of one such ordinary man, Robert Grainier (Golden Globe nominee Joel Edgerton), who lives all of his years in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, working on the land, helping to create a new world at the turn of the 20th century.
Directed by Clint Bentley, the film is an adaptation of Denis Johnson’s novella of the same name, and the script was co-written by Bentley and Greg Kwedar. There were few films at this year’s Sundance Film Festival that generated the kind of buzz that “Train Dreams” did.
The feature, directed by Clint Bentley from a script he wrote with Greg Kwedar, got some of the best reviews of the festival (our own review called it an “epic of breathtaking visual splendor and formidable lyrical cinematic poetry”) and was quickly snapped up by Netflix, who will be releasing it this November. The first trailer for the acclaimed film has just been released. You can watch it below.

It has been just over 24 hours since Gold Derby predictions for the 2026 Academy Awards opened, and already, there are some telling signs about the state of the race.
First, a couple of caveats before diving in!
Obviously, it's way too early to be discussing who is leading in which category for the actual Oscars. But with more than 500 Gold Derby users already logging their prediction, that's a significant-enough amount of data to provide at least a snapshot of the public's perception of the biggest races.
Second, reiterating something mentioned in the announcement post for the Oscars predictions, only films with confirmed U.S. distributors and release dates are included at the moment. The list, like the races themselves, will be updated throughout the coming moves, so check back often if you want your picks to stay as up to date as possible.

“Brief Lives,” the fourth episode of the second season of The Sandman, picks the story back up right after the whole question of the rulership of Hell has been decided, and shows us Dream dealing with the unquestionable rejection he received from Nada—he’s dealing with it in the most angsty way possible, which is very in character for him, standing on the balcony of his palace as rain pours down over the Dreaming to echo his feelings.
It’s the visit of another one of the Endless that sets this episode’s story in motion and leads us into the second part of this first volume of The Sandman season 2, in a way that feels slightly disconnected from the first three episodes—even though everything was laid down in varying levels of detail during “Seasons of Mist.” I just felt the disconnect a bit more this time, a...

Which Oscar-Winning Movie Marked Yellowstone Star Wes Bentley’s Breakthrough? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Before Yellowstone made Wes Bentley a household name again, he was the haunting face behind one of the most surreal performances of the late ’90s. American Beauty was his breakout. A strange, tragic, rose-petal-drenched masterpiece that won five Oscars and pulled in $356 million (per Box Office Mojo). And those flying plastic bag shots? All Bentley.
When I hear him reflect on that movie now, it’s wild how much it still lingers in his life. In a MovieWeb interview, Bentley said, “American Beauty was an experience that… it’s like a storybook in some ways, because it was just that out of nowhere fame… more than you could ever even dream of as a young actor.” That movie wasn’t just a role. It was his rocket launch. And 25 years later, the fumes are still fueling his ride.

Netflix Sets Theatrical Release Date for Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones' 97% Rotten Tomatoes Drama
Joel Edgerton was last seen playing a variety of Jason Dessens in the first season of Dark Matter on Apple TV+, but the next project from the star just took a major step forward. Edgerton stars alongside Kerry Condon and Felicity Jones in Train Dreams, a drama following an average man struggling to adjust to his new environment after losing his family. Not only has Netflix debuted a new image of Edgerton in Train Dreams, which can be found below, but the streamer has also announced that the film will play in select theaters starting November 21. This is an interesting step for Netflix, a studio that usually sends most of its movies straight to streaming, but it could signify a changing of the tide in the months and years to come.

Exclusive: Netflix has set its release plans for Sundance Film Festival pickup, Train Dreams, and it is being given a prime awards season slot and campaign. It will debut on the streamer on November 21, 2025, preceded by a theatrical run earlier that month in select theatres.
The film, a key Netflix awards priority this year, drew top reviews during its Sundance debut, currently at 97% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and I’m told is expected to be relaunching on the Fall Festival circuit before beginning its run in theatres and on Netflix. It was directed by Clint Bentley (Jockey) with a screenplay by Bentley and Greg Kwedar adapted from Dennis Johnson’s novella first published in the Paris Review in 2002. The writers were most recently Oscar nominated earlier this year for their screenplay of Sing Sing. It stars Joel Edgerton and past Academy Award nominees Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon, and William H. Going into the Season 27 finale of The Voice, my favorite was Team Adam Levine’s brilliant but polarizing Lucia Flores-Wiseman. But I couldn’t help but root for the underdog, Jaelen Johnston, who’d been ignominiously eliminated by coach Kelsea Ballerini in the Playoffs, only to get voted back into the competition after receiving a Super Save.
The general consensus, though — based on how y’all voted in TVLine’s polls — is that not only will Team Michael Bublé’s Jadyn Cree win, she should win, too. (I don’t get it, but to each, their own.) Team Bublé’s...

Luke Grimes is cool and all, but when I heard he might be getting his own Yellowstone spinoff, my first reaction was: really? Of all the characters to build a new show around, Kayce Dutton wouldn’t have topped my list. And frankly, the concept just doesn’t sound that exciting. What made Yellowstone work was the messy family dynamics and power plays take that away, and what’s left?
To make things worse, Taylor Sheridan’s latest update hints that things aren’t exactly sunshine and roses over at Paramount. If the guy running the Dutton-verse is hitting roadblocks, this spinoff might be in real trouble.
Luke Grimes’ Yellowstone spinoff sounds bad and Taylor Sheridan’s exit says a lot Luke Grimes as Kayce in the series. | Credit: Paramount Network.
I’ll be real with you folks: Y: Marshals might be one of the worst spinoff titles I’ve ever heard.

This post contains spoilers for multiple seasons of "Yellowstone."
"Yellowstone" was all about family drama, especially when it came to the Dutton siblings. The show literally started with one of them, Lee Dutton, meeting his fate in a tragic inaugural episode that set the tone for "Yellowstone" going forward. After this, we learned that Wes Bentley's Jamie Dutton was actually adopted, and thus not a Dutton by birth in a scene that Bentley claimed was like a gut-punch to perform. Of course, poor old Jamie didn't make it out of "Yellowstone" alive, with the show ending after five seasons in December 2024 and the adopted Dutton brother meeting his own fate at the hands of his sister, Kelly Reilly's Beth Dutton.
Luke Grimes' Dutton brother, Kayce, however, not only made it out of the drama-packed show alive, but it seems we'll soon see a Kayce Dutton spin-off that could...

Has Ryan Edwards truly turned over a new, responsible leaf?
This question has been posed about the reality star many times over the years, of course.
However, Edwards seemingly took a major step in a very positive direction on the April 17 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter… as the 37-year-old had a honest conversation with his and ex Maci Bookout’s 16-year-old son, Bentley.
(Instagram)
To put it bluntly, Edwards has been an absentee parent for a majority of this child’s life.
The MTV personality has been arrested on numerous occasions and checked into rehab more than once to battle substance abuse issues.
Via a court filing from earlier this year, there’s actually an official record of just how little time Ryan spends with his kids.
But perhaps the past will Not be prologue in his case?

Gerard Butler might not be what you'd call an A-list star these days, but he's actually appeared in some solid stuff in recent years. The Scottish actor's '90s throwback "Plane" was a breath of fresh air in 2023, and /Film's Chris Evangelista dubbed 2025's "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" a "triumph of dudes rock cinema." But none of this can erase the fact that Butler has starred in his fair share of duds, though if it's any consolation for him, the Netflix subscribers aren't letting something as bothersome as quality get in the way of streaming his films.
Back in 2017, Butler starred in "Geostorm," which on its surface was a generic disaster movie offering very little to entice audiences. But in reality it was even worse. The film was directed, co-written, and co-produced by "Independence Day" and "Godzilla" (1998) producer Dean Devlin, which you might think would work in its favor.

That’s the case, according to Teen Mom viewers, anyway.
The 33-year-old longtime reality TV star is still filming for the Teen Mom franchise.
Most recently, Maci has appeared in the spinoff, The Next Chapter.
This season, Maci was visited by a Teen Mom franchise alum, Kailyn Lowry.
Their meet-up was shared in a clip posted to @teenmom’s Instagram page in a Reel captioned, “Catching up with Kail!

The San Quentin Film Festival, which in October became the world’s first-ever film festival inside of a prison, is returning for a second year.
The festival was founded by Rahsaan “New York” Thomas, a filmmaker who was previously incarcerated at the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, and San Quentin volunteer Cori Thomas (no relation).
“For 2025, the goal is to expand the impact by being more inclusive,” Rahsaan said in a statement. “That starts with finding ways for people incarcerated beyond the walls of San Quentin to participate too.”
“Making it possible for people to experience this population on the basis of what they can do, rather than what they have done, was everything,” Cori said. “Several of the incarcerated filmmakers who participated in the festival have since left prison and now hold internships and paid positions in the industry — something they could have only dreamed of before. Few artists in mainstream country music have their finger on the pulse quite like Dierks Bentley. Just look at the rising artists he’s enlisted for past features: Billy Strings (“High Note”), Hardy and Breland (“Beers on Me”), Brothers Osborne (“Burning Man”), Molly Tuttle and Sierra Hull (a TV performance of “American Girl”), and an entire bluegrass album of cool pickers (2010’s Up on the Ridge). Bentley continues to prove his knack for identifying what’s on the verge by collaborating with Stephen Wilson Jr., one of country’s most fascinating new artists,...

It was a rivalry that burned through the entire run of "Yellowstone" and came to a brutal end in the show's final episode. Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) killed the man partly responsible for her father's death and the misery that had plagued her for most of her life — her adopted brother, Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley. Even with the uncertainty that troubled the show's final season with the departure of Kevin Costner, the one thing audiences could count on was that Beth was going to get the man she hated, after making a promise to her late father.
Even without this pact in place, though, director Christina Voros believed it was always on the cards. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about Beth's final deed against her brother, Voros said, "I feel like Beth is a woman of her word, so when she said it, I believed it. Their relationship feels almost Shakespearean to me.

Douglas Is Cancelled centers on Douglas Bellowes (Hugh Bonneville), a popular TV presenter whose career is thrown into turmoil after a sexist joke he allegedly made at a wedding goes viral.
The controversy begins when a social media post claims to have overheard the remark, and though the tweet initially seems insignificant, the snowball effect takes over. What seemed like a minor indiscretion quickly turns into an all-consuming scandal that Douglas and his team must contend with.
As the news spreads, the series explores how Douglas and those around him react to the growing storm. His wife Sheila (Alex Kingston), a tabloid editor, and co-presenter Madeline (Karen Gillan) each play crucial roles in managing the crisis.
The situation spirals further as media outlets, public opinion, and corporate interests amplify the drama, turning a fleeting mistake into a much larger conversation about cancel culture and its immediate impact.

Yellowstone’sJamie Duttonis arguably Wes Benton’s most popular and notable role to date. However, before he became the misunderstood adopted son of the Dutton family, Bentley made his name in one of the most controversial Oscar-winning films in history. In 1999, Bentley starred in American Beauty, a psychological dark comedy that made his name in Hollywood.
Playing Ricky Fitts, a role that would influence his later works and characters, the film’s success, which included sweeping the 72nd Academy Awards and becoming a defining film of the late 90s, launched Bentley into a range of roles in both film and television. From playing a manipulative Head Gamemaker in The Hunger Games to several characters in American Horror Story, Bentley's career expanded across genres.

After the television industry’s long stagnating period, Yellowstone managed to mark a shift among the modern audience who had been thirsting for a taste of something foreign and untested. The reprisal of Westerns was nothing new, yet Sheridan’s writing made it both experimental and dangerous.

After its spectacular success, Yellowstone gave way to two more integer-heavy prequel spin-offs – 1883 and 1923 – which built on the legacy of the Duttons. Meanwhile, Taylor Sheridan’s increasing ambition toppled the writer-director off his game somewhere beyond Yellowstone‘s post-Season 3 arc. As the number of projects on his roster increased, so began the decline of Sheridan’s golden era.

Busted car windows, graffiti on the walls, and a spiked drink… Yes, Dierks Bentley, she clearly hates you. On Friday, the country star released the charmingly silly video for his new single “She Hates You,” in which he’s haunted by a crazy ex-girlfriend holding onto some deep hard feelings.
“We were goofing around with this idea before diving into our next ‘serious’ song, really just trying to make each other laugh. It just fell out, and I didn’t think much more about it after that,” Bentley said in...

March is set to be a big month for A24 and the streaming service Max. Along with the distributor's 2024 horror movie Heretic hitting Max in early March, the prison drama Sing Sing will also make its streaming debut on the service on Mar. 21 and on HBO Linear on Saturday, Mar. 22, at 8:00 p.m. Et. Max's lucrative deal with A24 to be the streaming home of all its latest titles continues to pay off, especially with less heavily marketed movies like Sing Sing, which, despite its smaller release window, is still a remarkable film.
The film is based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at the Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison. While the movie stars veteran actors Colman Domingo, Sean San José, and Paul Raci, the rest of the core cast is composed of formerly incarcerated men who had previously been a part of the rehabilitation program. Ryan Edwards is once again a regular cast member on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, but he’s apparently refusing to pay child support to his estranged wife, Mackenzie Standifer, despite their disparity in income. The former couple used to appear on the MTV franchise together, before quitting in 2018, with Mackenzie slamming the network for not portraying Ryan as a recovering addict. Then, in 2021, the entire Edwards family was let got amid after Ryan threatened Maci Bookout and her husband Taylor Kinney. Maci and Ryan share a 16-year-old son, Bentley, and their teenage pregnancy catapulted them to fame on the original Teen Mom. As of last year, Ryan became a series regular again, though he now has a new fiancé and baby on the way. Still, his divorce from Mackenzie wages on as they remain legally married. She’s fighting for primary custody and child support, while Ryan admittedly refuses to pay.
