With Meg 2: The Trench currently in theatres (you can read our review Here), The Asylum has dropped a trailer for their latest mockbuster – Megalodon: The Frenzy! While Meg 2 features three giant sharks, some lizard-like creatures, and a giant octopus, Megalodon: The Frenzy unleashes five giant sharks into the open sea – and Asylum fans in the U.S. will have the chance to see the action play out on the big screen starting on August 25th!

Megalodon: The Frenzy is set to receive a digital release this Friday, August 18th as well, so fans will be able to watch it at home for a week before it reaches theatres.

A “mockbuster” take on Meg 2: The Trench, The Asylum is back with Megalodon: The Frenzy, their latest addition to the “Sharksploitation” subgenre they love playing around in.

In this summer’s Megalodon: The Frenzy, directed by Brendan Petrizzo, “When a frenzy of five Megalodons torment the open ocean, the stakes have never been higher.”

The shark attack film will first be available on Digital platforms beginning August 18. It’s also being unleashed in select theaters across the United States on August 25.

Laemmle Glendale – Los Angeles, CA Hickory Ridge Cinemas – Cleveland, Oh Trylon Cinema – Minneapolis, Mn O Cinema South Beach – Miami, Fl Aurora Cineplex -Atlanta, Ga

The film’s cast includes Caroline Williams and Eric Roberts alongside Jessica Chancellor, Jeff Daniels, Alex Trumble, Javier Luna, Ben Formella, Chase Hamilton, Jordan Hubbard, Victoria Grant, Sharon Desiree, Liam Hawley, Jordy Tulleners, and Sarah Fraser.

Ryan Ebert, Marc Gottlieb, and Bill Hanstock wrote the script.

The Asylum's Version of The Little Mermaid Is Now Available

Halle Bailey isn't the only Little Mermaid who can currently be seen on the big screen. After the recent release of Disney's The Little Mermaid, a live-action remake of the original animated film released in 1989, a separate adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersem story has also been put into limited theaters by The Asylum. The Asylum's The Little Mermaid, also referred to as Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, is directed by Michael Johnson (Battle Oasis) and written by Anna Rasmussen (Shark Side of the Moon). As with the Disney adaptations, it takes inspiration from the original story by Andersen from 1837.
