Milly Alcock is set to star in her own Supergirl movie coming out in 2026, but she has already made her debut in the DC Universe (Dcu) with the recent Superman film. Fans got a glimpse of Kara at the end of the movie when she arrives to pick up her dog, Krypto. In that brief moment, Supergirl seems a bit drunk and even calls Superman a “b****.” Clark explains that she’s been partying on planets orbiting a Red Sun because she can’t get drunk on Earth due to the effects of the Yellow Sun on Kryptonian metabolism.

Even though their screen time together was short, many fans have noticed the strong chemistry between Superman, Supergirl, and Krypto. A newly released behind-the-scenes photo captures this connection perfectly, making fans even more excited about the possibility of a team-up.

Following his breakout roles in Euphoria and Saltburn, Jacob Elordi charts a new chapter with On Swift Horses, an iconic queer romance set in 1950s America. The film will arrive on Netflix in the United States on August 23.

Directed by Daniel Minahan and based on Shannon Pufahl’s novel, Elordi stars as Julius, a Korean War vet turned gambler, tasked with a raw journey of love and identity. I just watched every movie and TV show featuring Supergirl with one goal in mind: to figure out why I’m so excited for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Now that James Gunn’s Superman is out, I can finally say it: Supergirl is introduced in the film. And her introduction is one of the strongest parts. Superman (2025) takes the bold approach of skipping traditional origin stories. You’re just dropped into a party where everyone already knows each other—and they don’t feel the need to explain their shared pasts. But Supergirl’s arrival hits a little differently. To be honest, I’ve always had a bit of a blind spot when it comes to Kara Zor-El. I loved some Superman stories as a kid, but I’d never seen the 1984 Supergirl movie until this week. I skipped the CW show because, well, there were like a hundred Arrowverse series.

The Wrap reveals that Ana Nogueira has been tapped by DC Studios to write its upcoming Wonder Woman movie. She's someone James Gunn and Peter Safran clearly have a lot of faith in, as this will mark the playwright's third Dcu project.

The playwright and actor first came to our notice when she was hired by Warner Bros. to write a Supergirl movie, spinning out of 2023's The Flash. Sasha Calle was dumped from the role when DC Studios was formed, but Gunn and Safran immediately hired her to pen Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Directed by Craig Gillespie with Milly Alcock in the lead role, it's since been retitled Supergirl. Nogueira also wrote Teen Titans for DC Studios, which has yet to be officially greenlit. Now, it seems the studio wants the writer to prioritise bringing Diana Prince back to theaters.

While Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made sure to repeatedly spoil it in advance, Black Adam ended with the "surprise" return of Henry Cavill's Superman.

Johnson, looking to change the hierarchy of how the Dceu was run, intended to spearhead a new slate of projects revolving around Black Adam, including a Hawkman movie, Man of Steel 2, and an eventual Black Adam/Superman crossover.

Cavill's return was met with a positive response, and the actor even shot a cameo role in The Flash, alongside Michael Keaton's Batman and Sasha Calle as Supergirl.

Black Adam bombed, and DC Studios was formed shortly after. Led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the studio decided that a fresh start was best for the Man of Tomorrow and announced a Superman movie starring a new actor—David Corenswet—as Clark Kent. So, just as quickly as he announced his return, Cavill was forced to bid farewell to Supes.

DC fans finally got their first official look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl. James Gunn, who is running DC Studios and directing the upcoming Superman movie, shared the first official image on Instagram. The post said simply, “Look Out. 2026”, hinting at when fans will see her full story on screen.

Alcock is known for her role as young Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon, but now she’s stepping into the world of superheroes. She made her Supergirl debut right at the end of Gunn’s Superman movie, teasing what’s next for DC’s movie universe.

In an interview, Gunn explained that this version of Supergirl will feel very different from Superman. “She’s a mess. She’s a total mess,” he said. “I mean, I think as we learn, she’s had a completely different background from Superman.

Superman has been leading the way for Dcu movies, but soon it’ll be his cousin’s time to shine. Fans just got their first official look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl, and according to the new poster and James Gunn himself, she will be something very different.

James Gunn, the director of the upcoming Superman film and head of DC Studios, shared the first image of Alcock as Supergirl on Instagram. The post simply said “Look Out. 2026” as a teaser for her movie’s release date.

Alcock’s version of Supergirl debuted at the end of the Superman movie, where she appeared briefly to hint at the next story in DC’s new movie universe.

To answer the first question I'm sure you're asking after the headline, I'll quote the "Simpsons" episode "Marge vs. the Monorail" — "It's not Batman!"

Now, onto "Superman." As critics, including the Atlantic's David Sims, have pointed out, James Gunn's new movie is the first one to embrace how zany Superman's world is by putting him alongside other superheroes from the beginning. This Clark Kent (David Corenswet) wasn't the dawn of the Dcu's age of Gods and Monsters, he merely shines the brightest of all its heroes.

DC Studios' James Gunn explains what makes Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El so different in Supergirl, compared to past interpretations of the DC hero. Craig Gillespie's Supergirl movie is set to establish the titular Kryptonian hero as one of the Dcu's main foundations. Instead of presenting Kara Zor-El as Superman's upbeat cousin on Earth, Supergirl will follow Kara as she fights her own battles far off in space.

In an interview with ComicBook, DC Studios head and Superman director James Gunn acknowledges the Dcu's Supergirl has a much different origin to previous live-action iterations of the hero. Gunn explains that living on Krypton's remains have made Milly Alcock's Supergirl "kind of a mess" compared to Superman. Gunn says that flashbacks to Krypton in Supergirl are "always a possibility," but suggests the heart of the story is in how Krypton's destruction shaped Kara Zor-El. Check out Gunn's full comments:

Jason Momoa has officially joined the new DC Universe in a surprising and fitting role. He’s playing Lobo, the wild alien bounty hunter, in the upcoming Supergirl movie. According to DC Studios co-head James Gunn, Lobo isn’t just a side character, he’s a key part of the film’s story.

Momoa, who previously played Aquaman in the old DC Extended Universe, had a clear idea of what he wanted next. Gunn shared that the actor sent him a short message that simply read, “F**king Lobo.” That message kicked off a new chapter for Momoa and the Dcu.

Lobo will make his first appearance in Supergirl, which was earlier called Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The movie is part of “Gods and Monsters,” the first phase of the rebooted DC Universe under Gunn and Peter Safran.
