‘Uglies’ Proves the Future of YA Adaptations Should Be Animation
Image
We open on a world bathed in concrete gray. There’s a powerful government, a postapocalyptic class system with a telling name, and an unassuming teenager primed to start a worldwide revolution. Sound familiar? That’s because it’s the underpinning of most popular dystopian young adult franchises, including Uglies, a mid-aughts novel series by Scott Westerfeld that has finally been adapted to film (now streaming on Netflix). Unfortunately, while Westerfeld’s books were memorable trendsetters in the genre, the long-awaited movie feels like a collection of YA clichés. And...

Twilight Remake Cast: We Recast Every Main Character For The TV Show Reboot
Image
A new cast is needed for the Twilight TV series remake, as the original actors have gone on to successful careers. Lana Condor, Milo Manheim, Forrest Goodluck, Penn Badgley, Lashana Lynch, Amandla Stenberg, Mason Gooding, and Dove Cameron are potential new faces for the main characters. Luke Eisner's appearance makes him a good fit for the role of Jasper, and the show could potentially launch his career.

A new cast is a must for the main characters in the new Twilight remake TV series. Twilight is following the footsteps of Harry Potter, a property soon to get a new TV series with HBO Max. Twilight took the world by storm in the late 2000s, launching Kristin Stewert, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner into the spotlight. The franchise produced five films from 2008 through 2012, and its success paved the road for The Hunger Games and Divergent to follow suit.

Hulu's A Court of Thorns and Roses TV show is quietly in development, and arguably the hardest character casting to get right will be Tamlin. A Court of Thorns and Roses follows the story of Feyre, a human huntress who accidentally kills a Fae one day while out hunting and is taken over the Wall that separates human and Fae as payment for her kill.

Report: Superman: Legacy Auditioning Black Actors for Lex Luthor
Image
A new report states that Superman: Legacy writer-director James Gunn is looking at Black actors to possibly play a superpowered Lex Luthor in the DC film.

According to The Wrap, Black actors are being considered for the villain of Superman: Legacy, which sources label as "Apex." This points to Superman: Legacy possibly adapting DC Comics' "Apex Lex," Luthor's human/Martian form he had while in service to the god-like entity Perpetua, creator of the Multiverse. This form was seen throughout DC's Year of the Villain saga and titles like Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen. Because it turned Luthor into a Martian hybrid, it gave him powers much like those of Martian Manhunter.

Reports about who may play Clark Kent and Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy have garnered a reaction from writer-director James Gunn.

On Twitter, Gunn tweeted, "For all of you asking, I would never comment on who is or isn’t Auditioning for a role. That’s the actor’s business only & isn’t something I’d make public unless they did it first after the fact (like [Glenn Howerton] or [ZacharyLevi] having auditioned for Star-Lord & being top choices). For now, only one person has been Cast in Superman: Legacy, and it isn’t any of the regular players in the Superman world."

Tall Girl movie review: Critics Review, Rating, Cast and Crew
Hold on! In a world plagued by problems such as nuclear warfare and cancer we are supposed to sympathise with a girl simply because she is taller than her friends?!

The absurdity doesn't end there. This is just the beginning. All of Jodie's friends make 'tall' jokes and reduce her self esteem to smithereens. Boo hoo.

With friends like these, "Tall Girl" is easily the stupidest film I've seen in years. It may think being inane is being equivalent to being young. But the young today cannot be treated as dimwits just because it suits a certain audience demographic that exists only in the marketing factory's mind.

Unlike "Eighth Grade", "Ingrid Goes West" or even "Booksmart", recent films that tried to enter the pre-adult American girl's mindzone, "Tall Girl" is a furiously idiotic girl-in-a-spin saga, tacky in its ideology and tattered in its plot construction.

The young cast led by...

Netflix Original Movie Tall Girl Takes The Teen Rom-Com to New "Heights" - Movie Review
Tall Girl is the latest teen rom-com from Netflix and comes from first-time director Nzingha Stewart and first-time screenwriter Sam Wolfson. Ava Michelle stars and is joined by Steve Zahn, Angela Kinsey, Luke Eisner, and Griffin Gluck. The dramedy follows the tallest girl in high school as she struggles to maneuver the social pressures of high school. Netflix has made a lot of movies like this, but how does this Netflix original compare to the others in the streaming service’s original catalog? Does it fall short, or does it stand tall in comparison?

Tall Girl's Luke Eisner Is Here to Become Your New Netflix Boyfriend
Being the tallest girl in school definitely limits your romantic prospects. However, when your school gets a new Swedish exchange student who is both tall and devastatingly hot, your prospects suddenly aren't looking so bad. Netflix's latest rom-com, Tall Girl, stars beautiful dancer Ava Michelle as a high schooler who, due to her 6'1" height, can't manage to find a boyfriend - that is, until she meets 6'2" Stig, played by Luke Eisner.

Who is Luke Eisner, you ask? This may be his first Netflix movie, but it isn't his first Netflix project - he appears as Cody in an episode of Netflix's new sitcom Family Reunion. The 23-year-old actor also happens to be both a musician and a model, having landed campaigns with H&m, American Eagle, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren. Does he sound too good to be true? Just wait until you see these sexy photos of him.

Moment of Truth, How Tall Is Tall Girl's Ava Michelle?
To add to the list of teen-flicks we will be shamelessly watching on Netflix, Tall Girl, starring Ava Michelle, is upon us. The Netflix original movie follows the life of Jodi (played by Michelle), who is the tallest girl in her high school at just 16 years old. With Ava towering over all of her costars (aka classmates) in the film, it makes you wonder if she is that tall in real life or if it's some sort of movie magic mind trick. So, how tall is Ava from Tall Girl? According to her Instagram bio, 6'1" to be exact - just like Jodi in the Netflix original.

At just 17 years old, Michelle is an actress, dancer (she appeared on a few episodes of Dance Moms back in the day), model, and singer-songwriter, and despite the character she plays in Tall Girl, she appears to be embracing all 73 inches of her height to the fullest.

The Trailer For Netflix's Tall Girl Has Everything: Romance! Makeover Montages! Bad Jokes!
Netflix is slowly but surely solidifying itself as the buzziest destination for new, original romantic comedies, and the latest addition to its collection looks promising: Tall Girl.

The upcoming film stars Ava Michelle as Jodi, a 6'1" 16-year-old who's always been uncomfortable with how her height makes her stand out from the rest of her classmates, even with the love and support of her two best friends. Constantly bummed out because there are no guys taller than her in school, things start looking up when handsome (and very tall!) exchange student Stig (Luke Eisner) arrives and seems interested in her. With the help of her beauty queen older sister Harper (The Hate U Give's Sabrina Carpenter), Jodi gets a makeover of not only her outward appearance, but also her inner confidence (aww).

The film, which hails from director Nzingha Stewart, also stars Angela Kinsey and Steve Zahn as Jodi and Harper's parents.

Ava Michelle is a Tall Girl in Official Trailer for Netflix's Film 'Tall Girl'
"Face your fears, Jodi." Netflix has debuted an official trailer for a drama titled Tall Girl, which is indeed about a tall girl. What an original name for this. Ava Michelle stars as Jodi, a girl in high school who is 73 inches tall - 6', 1". She's always been uncomfortable with it. After slouching her way through life for 16 years and being made fun of by classmates, Jodi meets Stig, a seemingly perfect Swedish foreign exchange student who's even taller than she is. Jodi's new crush turns her world upside down and throws her into a surprising love triangle. The cast includes Luke Eisner, Griffin Gluck, Sabrina Carpenter, Paris Berelc, Steve Zahn, Angela Kinsey, and Anjelika Washington. At first glance, this doesn't look any good - so campy. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Nzingha Stewart's Tall Girl, direct from Netflix's YouTube: Jodi (Ava Michelle), the tallest girl in her high school,...

Netflix Casts 6-Foot-1 Newcomer for ‘Tall Girl’ Movie
Netflix has launched production in New Orleans on the comedy movie “Tall Girl,” with newcomer Ava Michelle in the title role following a worldwide casting call.

Michelle, who fits the billing at 6-foot one-inch, will play a 16-year-old who is the tallest female at a high school, where she has never felt completely comfortable.

“It was essential for us to find an actor to portray our lead who can speak to the challenges and lessons that Jodi experiences from a very personal place of authenticity,” said Nzingha Stewart, the film’s director. “Ava’s ability to beautifully and uniquely showcase those attributes stood out to us in a way that we believe audiences will connect with. ‘Tall Girl’ showcases that embracing the very qualities that make you different is what allows you to overcome anything.”

Griffin Gluck (Netflix’s “American Vandal”) will star as the best friend of Michelle’s character.

Netflix Finds Its Tall Girl in Towering Newcomer Ava Michelle
After conducting an extensive worldwide casting call, Netflix announced today that actor, dancer, and model Ava Michelle will play the lead role in its upcoming live action comedy Tall Girl, making her feature film debut.

The film captures the tone of the classic John Hughes movies, while exploring the nuanced and delicate relationships that make high school challenging, frustrating, memorable, and uplifting. Ava Michelle, who is 6 feet and 1 inch tall, will play Jodi, a 16 year old who must embrace what makes her different and be proud to stand out, not fit in.

Griffin Gluck will star in Tall Girl as Jack Dunkleman, Jodi's best friend. Actor, musician, and model Luke Eisner (The Goldbergs), who is making his feature film debut, will star as Stig, a handsome - and equally tall - Swedish foreign exchange student.

Sabrina Carpenter stars as Harper, Jodi's beautiful and extremely melodramatic pageant-winning older sister. Carpenter is...

Netflix Finds Its ‘Tall Girl’ In Ava Michelle After Looking Low And High
Netflix has cast actor-dancer-model Ava Michelle to star in Tall Girl, its upcoming original high school comedy movie being directed by Nzingha Stewart. The newcomer leads a cast that includes Griffin Gluck (American Vandal), Luke Eisner (The Goldbergs) and Sabrina Carpenter (The Hate U Give) along with Steve Zahn and Angela Kinsey.

Shooting is underway in New Orleans after an open search was conducted last fall for a lead actress 5-foot-10 or taller and between the ages of 13-21. They eventually landed on Michelle, who is 6-foot-1, to make her feature film debut playing Jodi, the tallest girl in her school who has never quite felt comfortable in her own statuesque skin.

All of that changes when she falls for the handsome (and equally tall) foreign exchange student Stig (Eisner) who, of course, gets Jodi’s quirky, best, male friend Dunkleman (Gluck) and his hippie mom as a host family.
