Unfairly Cancelled 79% Rotten Tomatoes HBO Max Original Sets New Netflix Release Date
Image
In the wake of Anna Kendrick’s success in the charming black comedy A Simple Favor and way before its sequel, Another Simple Favor, she was tapped to star in HBO Max’s Love Life, which unfortunately ran for a short time. Created by Sam Boyd, the rom-com premiered on May 27, 2020, but was cancelled in December 2022, a month after its Season 2 finale. Now, close to three years later, fans will be beyond thrilled to know that Love Life has found a new streaming home in the U.S. thanks to Netflix.

As confirmed by What’s on Netflix, Love Life will arrive on Netflix U.S. on August 5 for the first time with two seasons and all twenty episodes. It’s no secret that the show was one of the earliest HBO Max Originals and performed well among viewers. However, after being removed from the streamer, it became widely unavailable,...

'Let's Make It Crazier' Another Simple Favor Could've Had Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively Undercover in Rome Dressed as Nuns
Image
A Simple Favor premiered to critical and commercial success in 2018, but the idea for a sequel didn't come right away. Another Simple Favor has just premiered on Prime Video, but the director revealed the original story.

The original film adapted Darcey Bell's novel of the same name, and it ended with Blake Lively's Emily Nelson going to prison for faking her disappearance and killing her twin. Another Simple Favor stepped up the twists and turns further, and nothing was off limits. However, in an interview with Cbr's Grae Drake, director Paul Feig revealed that the sequel could've been strikingly different.

During the conversation, Paul Feig opened up about why he chose A Simple Favor to break his non-sequel rule, and how he felt like the characters were worth exploring further. This time, Emily was out of jail, and she went to find Anna Kendrick's Stephanie to...

‘Another Simple Favor’ Trails Behind the Original on Rotten Tomatoes Ahead of Its Release
Image
The early reactions are in and, ahead of its May 1 arrival, Another Simple Favor is coming up short compared to its predecessor on Rotten Tomatoes — but not by much. According to the website, the Prime Video-destined follow-up currently holds an 82% critics’ approval rating, falling just two points behind the 84% held by 2018’s A Simple Favor. The margin is close for the sequel to catch up to and possibly pass the movie that came before it by the time it arrives on the streamer in just a few days. Its next gauntlet will be winning over audiences who were less impressed with the first film than critics, with the original holding a 73% audience approval rating.

Depending on what tricks and treats Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick have up their sleeves this time, the percentage could easily swing in one direction or the other. One promising sign for the new movie is...

Sharon Stone reveals she was suddenly dropped from Another Simple Favor
Image
The sequel to Paul Feig’s twisty-turney mystery comedy A Simple Favor, titled Another Simple Favor, aims to weave an even bigger web as the movie premiered at SXSW. Our Chris Bumbray was present at its screening and thought it was pretty fun, though not as good as the original as he said in his review, “It’s absolutely watchable, if not a patch on the surprisingly rock-solid original. It should prove to be a big streaming hit for Prime Video, and while it’s not a movie that cried out to be made, taken as a lark, it’s good fun.”

The film has a bit of controversy to navigate with its star, Blake Lively, currently being in an on-going case of harassment from her It Ends with Us director. However, Deadline reveals that actress Sharon Stone has thrown shade at it as she reveals in a snide way...

‘Another Simple Favor’ Review: Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively Return for Paul Feig’s Silly and Sometimes Trying Sequel
Image
Before the SXSW premiere of Another Simple Favor, Paul Feig admitted that he was reluctant to make a follow-up to his campy 2018 mystery A Simple Favor. Sequels, in his and many other people’s estimation, rarely live up to the standards of their predecessors.

Unfortunately, Another Simple Favor doesn’t prove to be the exception to that rule; fortunately, though, it won’t really matter to fans of the first film. In reviving one of the more toxic friendships in recent movie history, Feig reunites two stars whose chemistry makes this twisty, often very ridiculous and sometimes trying movie more compelling.

Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reprise their roles as two women bonded at first by murder and then by other felonious activities. At the end of A Simple Favor, Emily (Lively) goes to prison and Stephanie (Kendrick) moonlights as a private detective, which makes her mommy vlog more interesting and extremely popular.

In 2018, Blake Lively took the role of the sophisticated and glamorous Emily Nelson, the PR director for a fashion company in A Simple Favor. She co-starred with Anna Kendrick, and the two teamed up again for the upcoming Another Simple Favor, which will reunite the same team minus one character.

One of Emily's key features in the films was her love for Martinis, which highlighted not only her sophistication but also her mysterious and cosmopolitan personality. In the first installment, Lively sneakily used her husband's gin brand, Aviation Gin, to make her signature drink. However, that will change in the upcoming sequel, director Paul Feig revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and Aviation Gin won't make a return.

Amazon Prime Video has remembered that Lively is an actress, and they have a movie to promote. Another Simple Favor, the sequel to the 2018 black comedy mystery thriller, A Simple Favor, takes the action to Capri, Italy, and the first trailer shows that Lively's Emily Nelson isn't done with Anna Kendrick's Stephanie Smother just yet.

Another Simple Favor Trailer Brings More Twisted Drama, This Time in Italy

Another Simple Favor, the unexpected sequel to 2018's A Simple Favor, is close to its worldwide premiere, bringing back Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Prime Video unveiled the first trailer before its debut at the SXSW early next month.

A Simple Favor was based on Darcey Bell's 2017 novel of the same name. Paul Feig directed the black comedy mystery adaptation with a script by Jessica Sharzer. Although the story wrapped by the end of the film, the movie was such a big success that a sequel was greenlit, with the original director and stars, and the official trailer Prime Video released proves there's more twisted drama to come, this time with a more scenic scenario in Italy.

The A Simple Favor 2 director recently gave an update on the sequel to his 2018 dark crime comedy starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, which is set during a destination wedding in Capri, Italy, where murder ensues.

“I’m really excited about it,” he told Radio Times. “I’m in the middle of editing right now, and we did a test screening of my first cut last week, and it played through the roof. Paul Feig Explains Why A Simple Favor 2 is Not Getting a Theatrical Release
Image
When news dropped that a sequel to A Simple Favor was being made, with all the key players in place to return, fans of the film naturally assumed the film would be debuting in theaters. However, as more details emerged, it became clear that the film, released by Amazon MGM, would be streaming exclusively on Prime Video and would not be receiving a theatrical run. Given the first film's respectable box office take and favorable reviews, the news was a little surprising, but now director Paul Feig is providing more details about why A Simple Favor 2 went that route, and it all comes down to Amazon MGM really wanting the film.

Paul Feig Explains Why ‘A Simple Favor 2’ Is Headed Straight to Streaming
Paul Feig at an event for Jackpot! (2024)
When a sequel to Paul Feig’s “A Simple Favor” was officially greenlit earlier this year with Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick returning, it was revealed that, instead of a theatrical release, the movie would go straight to streaming. And, according to the director, that decision was made simply because Amazon MGM proved they both wanted it and would support it.

The first film, distributed by Lionsgate in 2018, centered on Mommy Vlogger Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) who gets caught up in a mystery when her new best friend Emily Nelson (Lively) suddenly goes missing after asking Stephanie to pick up her son. What follows is a story of murder, attempted murder, even faking a death, and with the added draw of “Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding, fans loved it enough to want a sequel.

Speaking to TheWrap ahead of his next comedy “Jackpot!” — also headed to Prime Video, it premieres on Aug.
