Biography

Sooraj Sukumar Nair is a versatile Indian actor, filmmaker, and producer hailing from Kerala. He gained recognition through his debut role in the television series "Malakhamar" (2012), simultaneously acting and assisting in direction under G.S. Vijayan on Mazhavil Manorama.

Sooraj's creative acumen emerged with the groundbreaking short film "Six Pack" in 2013, the first Malayalam short film to receive a television preview. Born to NP Sukumar Nair and P. Radha Devi in Thiruvananthapuram, he holds a bachelor's degree in engineering. He is married to renowned Makeup Artist Gopika V.B. Nair, with whom he has a daughter named Aaradhya G.S. Nair.

Transitioning from a software professional at Technopark, Nair's passion for acting materialized with his debut in "Malakhamar." He not only showcased his acting prowess but also explored the role of assistant director under G.S. Vijayan. Nair continued his acting journey in Malayalam short films, including "News" (2013) and "Experiments Going On" (2016), sharing screen space with cine actress Mahalakshmi. Sooraj's directorial talents were evident in the short film "Along this Way" (2013), complemented by his production achievement, "Six Pack" (2013), the pioneering Malayalam short film with a television preview. His creative pursuits extended to writing and directing the short film "Otta Oruthikalum Sheriyalla" (2014).

Venturing into music albums, Nair exhibited versatility with works like "Anamika 1" (2016), "Mukile" (2016), "Anamika 2" (2017), and "Nin Karunayal" (2017), diversifying his creative horizons. Collaborating with Sujith S. Nair, he played a dual role in the upcoming film "Vaakku."

He also directed the big budget music album "Manwah," spanning four languages, featuring a song by renowned actress Nayana Nair of "Bahubali" fame shots at Karaikudi. Sooraj's directorial aspirations extended to the film "B Nilavarayum Sharjapalliyum" (2017), involving the comeback of Jagathy Sreekumar and featuring talents like Aju Varghese, Maqbool Salman, Baiju Santhosh & a cameo to be said as Sivakarthikeyan.

In addition to his contributions to the film industry, Nair's expertise extended to digital and online marketing for more than 25 Malayalam films, including notable titles like "Geethaanjali," "Baavuttiyude Naamathil," "Angry Babies," and "Nizhal," among others.

Despite challenges such as the Kerala flood, Sooraj's determination endured, culminating in his acting role in "Varkey," directed by Adarsh Venugopalan and starring Samad Sulaiman. His commitment extended to the pandemic era, where he ventured into directing the experimental movie "Routemap."
