Just in time for Christmas — the sixth season of Virgin River is set to premiere Dec. 19. And it’s not one of those half-season drops that Netflix has been doing a lot of lately — all 10 episodes of Season 6 will be available that day.

That is slightly ahead of schedule — Netflix at the start of February unveiled its 2024 original slate, and Virgin River, along with a slew of other fan favorites, like Stranger Things, Ginny & Georgia and Wednesday, were not on the list, pointing to a 2025 return.

However, nothing is set in stone — Virgin River is the second series originally eyed for 2025 that will be back sooner than anticipated. The other is The Lincoln Lawyer, whose third season was delivered early and will debute Oct. 17.

Following the part one release of 10 intense and emotional episodes (on Sept. 7) — which saw a wildfire hit Virgin River, an illegal drug business showdown, a sexual assault court trial and a difficult miscarriage — Smith knew he wanted the two holiday episodes that are now streaming to have a “feeling of family and warmth.”

On Wednesday, Netflix's first formal Upfronts presentation brought some exciting news for fans of the streaming service's most beloved shows.

Ginny & Georgia, which has been in limbo since January, has secured a pickup for two more seasons, keeping the show on the air through what will likely be the fourth -- and final -- season.

In an exclusive post-mortem interview in January, then-showrunner Debra J. Fisher teased that she and series creator Sarah Lampert had mapped out a four-season run for the show.

The renewal announcement's delay is shocking, especially considering the show has been a strong performer for Netflix.

However, the streaming service confirmed that Sarah Glinski (Degrassi: Next Class) will take over as showrunner from Fisher.

There is no reason for the switcheroo, but fans will be happy knowing the show is returning.

What attracted you to the role of Denny, and were you excited about checking into Virgin River?

I was very much so. You know, exploring such a beloved show is such a gift. And it was kind of a big question mark as to what Denny would become moving forward from the first cliffhanger scene I shot in Virgin River Season 3. I was thrilled to get the first scripts and start to piece together who Denny would become.

Virgin River Season 4 is still a long way off, but at least we have some casting details to tide us over.

TV Line has revealed two new series regulars, and they're sure to get pulses racing.

Mark Ghanimé (The Bold Type) has officially joined the cast as Dr. Cameron Hayek, who is on board as the clinic's "dashing new physician."

"Armed with eye-catching good looks, a razor-sharp intellect, and a smile that could light up the world, Cameron makes an immediate splash in town — especially with the ladies of Virgin River," the character description reads.

We know the series loves a good romance story, so it will be fun to see who Cameron pairs up with.
