Discovery Season 5 Could Be The Federation's Voyage Home
Image
The United Federation of Planets could make its voyage home to Earth in Star Trek: Discovery season 5. One of the most shocking changes made by Star Trek: Discovery season 3 was Earth no longer being part of the Federation in the 32nd century. Soon after The Burn eliminated warp travel in the Alpha Quadrant, Earth banished the Federation and became an isolationist planet for the next century, and reverted to being known as United Earth. But United Earth decided to rejoin the Federation at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 4, and this could open the door to the Federation returning to its homeworld.

When faced with destruction from the Dark Matter Anomaly in Star Trek: Discovery season 4, United Earth decided to join the Federation's effort to initiate First Contact with the Dma's creators, Species 10-c. United Earth's Captain Ndoye (Phumzile Sitole) joined the Federation's delegation aboard the USS Discovery-a...

How ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Got [Spoiler] to Play a Historic Role in the Season 4 Finale
Image
Spoiler Warning: This story discusses a major scene in the Season 4 finale of “Star Trek: Discovery,” currently streaming on Paramount Plus.

“Star Trek” has a long history of unexpected guest performers, from Iggy Pop and Dwayne Johnson to Stephen Hawking and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

In its Season 4 finale, “Star Trek: Discovery” has added to that idiosyncratic hall of fame with the household name who plays the president of United Earth: voting rights champion and once and current candidate for Georgia governor, Stacey Abrams.

Abrams’ scene is the culmination of a two-season arc on “Discovery,” which began in Season 3 when the crew of the titular starship travel nearly 1,000 years into the future and discovered that the United Federation of Planets is in tatters, and Earth is no longer a member. In Season 4, after Capt. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her crew save humanity’s home world from total destruction,...

Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 7 Easter Eggs & References

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains major spoilers for Season 4, Episode 7.

Some of the cliches about Star Trek are totally true. When haters try to say that the most common Star Trek episodes are all about space diplomacy or long-drawn-out debates about science fiction ethics, true believers know that’s actually a huge compliment. And in this way, the seventh episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 — “…But to Connect” — is one of the best examples of a Star Trek episode, ever. Not only do we get big, galaxy-defining space politics, but also a unique debate about the nature of sentience and what to do when it’s in a form we’ve never seen before.

Along the way, this episode references a ton of Trekkie hits, from The Next Generation to Discovery’s own recent history, and the very first rogue Trek AI, ever, this one checks all the boxes.
