M6 CEO David Larramendy Addresses Possible Sale, New Cyril Hanouna Show and Future Streaming Plans in Series Mania Talk
Image
In a wide-ranging keynote address at Series Mania in Lille, M6 CEO David Larramendy laid out his ambitious vision for the future of one of France’s leading broadcasters. Reflecting on a transformative year and anticipating further changes, Larramendy emphasized the group’s strategic pivot toward streaming, fiction and content reinvention in a competitive global media landscape.

Possible Sale and Market Consolidation

Addressing rumors about a possible sale of M6, Larramendy deflected speculation: “Is M6 for sale? I don’t know. Ask our shareholder.” However, he acknowledged that the French media market needs consolidation. Due to current regulations, M6 cannot be sold before 2032, but he supports revisiting those rules.

“If the law changes, consolidation could happen,” he said, noting past interest from TF1 and new expressions of interest from others.

Cyril Hanouna Joins M6 in Entertainment Push

In a high-profile talent acquisition, TV host Cyril Hanouna will join M6 in September.

Gulli Commissions 26-Episode Season of Watch Next’s Tween Animated Action Series ‘Wild Kat’ (Exclusive)
Image
French free-to-air kids’ broadcaster Gulli has given Watch Next the greenlight to begin production on “Wild Kat,” a new tween action series co-developed by M6 Group and Germany’s Super Rtl.

Created and developed in-house at Watch Next, “Wild Kat” will blend fantasy and adventure themes with humor and high-stakes action to appeal to a tweener audience and touch on themes important to them, such as identity and self-acceptance. Season 1 will include 26 22-minute episodes.

“Wild Kat” is set in a world like ours; only some individuals are gifted with the ability to transform into hybrid creatures known as Werelings. The show’s titular protagonist, Kat, is one such individual, and she works with her companions, Idris and Dimitri, to stop others from abusing their transformations for malicious purposes. As if that pressure wasn’t enough, Kat is also adjusting to life in middle school, one of the most impactful phases...

Image
Totally Spies! season 7 is confirmed for 2024, with the French premiere on May 12. The original voice cast may be replaced for the new season, per Jennifer Hale's X post. Season 7 storyline details are still under wraps, but promise familiar elements.

Totally Spies! season 7 is the next installment of the French anime-inspired spy-fi series from creators Vincent Chalvon-Demersay and David Michel, and 2024 has seen some interesting news regarding release dates for the show. Despite being a French series, Totally Spies! debuted first in the United States in November 2001 on ABC Family. The series has had something of a complex distribution and release schedule since then. In the U.S., the show remained with ABC for one season before moving to Cartoon Network's animation lineup for seasons 2-5. The sixth season premiered on Universal Kids five years after season 5.
