Origins is a recurring series giving artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Chris Shiflett takes us through “Damage Control,” the latest single from his upcoming album, Lost at Sea.

Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett has revealed his newest solo record, Lost at Sea, will be out October 20th via Blue Élan Records. Along with the announcement, Consequence is exclusively premiering his new single, “Damage Control.”

Lost at Sea was recorded primarily in Nashville with producer Jaren Johnston of the Cadillac Three. Other collaborators on the album include fellow guitarists Charlie Worsham, Tom Bukovac, and Nathan Keeterle. See the artwork and tracklist below.

Featuring a laidback tone, shuffling rhythm section, and country rock embellishments, Shiflett has affectionally dubbed “Damage Control” as “Ska-mericana.” An amalgamation of the songwriter’s stylistic interests, Shifflet points to acts like The Clash as one of the primary influences...

‘Never Have I Ever’ Director Kabir Akhtar Believes ‘The Door Is Open for More’ Indian American Shows
Kabir Akhtar won an Emmy for editing "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" during the 2016 Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater on September 10, 2016 in Los Angele
One of director Kabir Akhtar’s first episodes on Mindy Kaling’s Netflix comedy series “Never Have I Ever” was the first episode told from Ben Gross’s (Jaren Lewison) point of view in Season 1.

The show follows Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) as she conquers the rollercoaster of high school, the emotions of adolescence and her particularly hot temper, which could flare at any moment. Devi also experiences a classic love triangle between two very different boys — Lewison’s overachieving, nerdy Ben Gross and Darren Barnet’s laid-back jock Paxton Hall-Yoshida.

“I ended up directing both Ben episodes and one of the Paxton episodes, and that first one, one of the things I loved most about it was — you look at it on the surface, and to that point in the show you have this young brown girl as the main character,” Akhtar told TheWrap. “This privileged white kid who...

‘Never Have I Ever’ Love Triangle Trio Reflect on the Series Ending: ‘When Does Anything Ever Make Sense?’
Never Have I Ever (2020)
Warning: This piece contains major spoilers for the final season of “Never Have I Ever.” If you haven’t watched yet, turn back now!

Season 4 of Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s Netflix comedy series “Never Have I Ever” brings the Sherman Oaks High adventures of Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), her besties Fabiola Torres (Lee Rodriguez) and Eleanor Wong (Ramona Young) and their various romantic partners, to a close. And viewers finally learn which of Devi’s two beaus — Paxton (Darren Barnet) or Ben (Jaren Lewison) — she ends up with in the series finale.

In the end, Devi chooses her crush/nemesis Ben, and the two pursue a long-distance relationship while attending Princeton and Columbia, respectively. But the future remains open, as series narrator John McEnroe signs off the final episode by teasing “for now.”

Never Have I Ever Stars Reflect On The Outcome Of The Paxton-Devi-Ben Love Triangle
Image
Warning: Major spoilers for Never Have I Ever season 4!Never Have I Ever season 4 brings the beloved Netflix series to a close, seeing Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) through the end of her high school years and sending her off to the college of her choice. But a much more hotly-debated choice has been of a more romantic nature, as the show veered between her intense crush on Sherman Oaks High School heartthrob, Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet), and her debate rival Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison).

While season 3 began with Devi and Paxton officially in a relationship, Never Have I Ever season 4 begins with Devi and Ben failing to commence their relationship despite consummating it. With Ben too scared of another rejection to take a chance on love, Devi gets close to resident bad boy Ethan (Michael Cimino) for a bit amidst her college application crisis. Meanwhile, Paxton has a college crisis of...
