Muriel Aboulrouss Ignites a Web Series Revolution at Jordan’s Amman Film Festival

When filmmaker, cinematographer, intuitive artist and teacher Muriel Aboulrouss pitched the idea of spotlighting web series to the Amman International Film Festival (Aiff), she wasn’t sure how it would be received.

To her surprise, festival director Nada Doumani embraced it without hesitation, giving space, for the first time, to a format often overlooked by regional festivals. Designed as the first showcase of its kind at an Arab festival, The Spark Series was created to offer web series a dedicated platform during Amman Film Industry Days, giving emerging creators the opportunity to share their work with industry professionals, distributors, and an engaged audience. The goal: to elevate a format often dismissed, and bring short-form storytelling into the center of regional cinematic discourse.

“I’m an intuitive artist,” she explains. “I don’t pre-plan or compare. I create from what I feel, and I teach that.”
