Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy has been known far and wide for being pansexual in the show. He has famously been the flagbearer of representation, helping people understand this segment of the Lgbtqia+ community, and has been celebrated for his contributions to spreading awareness.
But is he gay in real life? This is a question many people have had since the release of Schitt’s Creek back in 2015. What is he up to in 2025? More specifically, is he married? There isn’t much on the internet, and no straightforward answers when you search for this. Schitt’s Creek is a heartfelt, satirical, and comedic drama that has everyone in hysterics. The show captivated the audience with its heart-warming story for six seasons, turning reality TV-esque chaos into an Emmy-winning success. It follows the story of the Rose family, who, after losing their fortune, settle in a remote town named Schitt’s Creek, somewhere in Canada. The lives of the four prominent characters, Johnny, Moira, David, and Alexis Rose, turn out to be one rollercoaster ride.
The family makes living adjustments, and what follows is a story that unfolds over six seasons. The series finale, titled “Happy Ending,” revolved around David Rose’s wedding to Patrick Brewer, a joyous occasion that turns bonkers, in true Schitt’s Creek fashion. Aired on April 7, 2020, the show delivered a satisfying and emotional conclusion, wrapping up the individual journeys of each beloved character while also stating the impact that the show had on their lives.

Do you know those shows that no matter how many times you watch them, they never lose their magic? Schitt’s Creek is definitely one of those rare gems, and even after five years since its conclusion, it's still just as hilarious as ever.
Since we're in a day and age where reboots and revivals are increasingly popular, who's to say this beloved comedy series won’t make a triumphant return to delight fans once more? In fact, it looks like the show's co-creator has just hinted that a reunion movie or revival could potentially happen in the future.

If Schitt’s Creek fans have been wondering what Johnny Rose has been up to lately, they just got a rather sporty surprise! It seems the ever-dapper motel mogul has traded in Rosebud Motel for cricket pitches, and not just any cricket, but the high-octane world of the Indian Premier League to the IPLs.
Johnny Rose actor Eugene Levy was recently spotted receiving a personalized jersey straight from none other than Indian cricket legend and current Team India head coach, Rahul Dravid. Clearly, Levy’s charm travels well, even all the way to India’s favorite sport. Moira might not know an offside from a googly, but fans are sure she’d approve of the outfit. Here is what’s going on!!

“You can’t always get what you want… but if you try sometimes, you just might find—you get what you need.” — The Rolling Stones weren’t talking about Schitt’s Creek, but boy, does it hit home.
When we first stumbled on this Canadian TV sitcom, we thought it was just another fish-out-of-water sitcom. But by the time it bid adieu in 2020, it had carved a place in pop culture with the precision of a jeweler setting a rare gem. Created by the father-son powerhouse Eugene and Dan Levy, Schitt’s Creek turned Emmy-slayer, flipped the script on what small-town stories could be.
Eugene Levy once told The New York Times, “Isn’t that the perfect way to go?” when they chose to end the show after six stellar seasons. But let’s not cry over spilled milk—every cast member has been busy sprinkling their magic elsewhere. Let’s peel...

Let’s be honest—when we think of Hollywood celebrities, the first things that usually pop into our heads are red carpets, flashy clothes, luxury lifestyles, and glamorous lives. We rarely imagine them doing normal stuff like grocery shopping, binge-watching shows in pajamas, or getting excited over baby giggles. But guess what? Some of your favorite stars are now answering to cute little nicknames like “Grandpa,” “Granny,” and even “Pop Pop.”
Yes, that’s right. Some of your favorite celebs, who seem too cool (or too youthful) to be called “Grandma” or “Grandpa,” are fully living that grandparent life. And they’re absolutely loving it. Let’s take a peek into the softer side of these stars — the cuddles, the cookies, the baby giggles — and meet the grandkids who’ve turned these icons into giddy, doting Nanas and Opas.

Eugene Levy shares that retirement may be right around the corner for him. The Schitt’s Creek star confessed that he has taken the time to reflect and reconsider how much time he wants to spend in Hollywood before stepping out of the limelight. “I’m not afraid of retirement,” Levy, 77, told The Independent. “I love it when I have nothing on the agenda, I really do. I love getting up and the only big decision is where to go for lunch. There’s nothing wrong with that.” The comedian and actor has had an extensive and successful career spanning decades. From playing Jason Biggs‘ dad in the American Pie franchise to portraying Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek, Levy shared that he has always taken jobs that excite him, and he has no plans to stop doing that now. “I’ll take on jobs that I find really interesting, and jobs...

The premise of The Reluctant Traveler is a simple one. There’s a traveler and he’s reluctant, you see. But’s he’s also much more than that.
That’s because the titular reluctant traveler in this Apple TV+ docuseries is none other than comedy legend Eugene Levy. Levy’s prolific career has spanned decades – from his time on the Canadian sketch series Sctv to his many roles in Christopher Guest’s collection of mockumentaries to his most recent Emmy award-winning portrayal of Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek, the sitcom created by his son Dan Levy. Through all of these onscreen adventures, however, Levy never quite caught the travel bug. The Reluctant Traveler season 1 sought to rectify that by forcing him into locales like Costa Rica, Italy, Japan, and more.

Moira Rose's accent, expertly portrayed by Catherine O'Hara, steals the show and makes her a comedic icon in Schitt's Creek. Moira's exaggerated accent highlights her out-of-place nature in the small town and makes her a memorable television creation. O'Hara had a lot of say in the development of Moira, including the creation of her accent, which adds depth and meaning to the character's backstory.
In Schitt's Creek, Moira Rose's accent is a hilarious aspect of the character that allows her to steal the show. Brought to life by the legendary Catherine O'Hara, Moira was the family matriarch throughout all six seasons of the Canadian sitcom. The character was created by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, who also starred as the on-screen father and son pair Johnny Rose and David Rose. However, it is O'Hara's performance that made Moira a comedic icon and the actor won an Emmy for the hilarious tour-de-force performance.

Schitt's Creek became a huge success because it abandoned its original premise and focused on the character growth of the Rose family. The Roses' ownership of Schitt's Creek is not central to the story, as the show is more about their reluctance to adapt to a new modest lifestyle. Abandoning the original premise allowed for a more balanced power dynamic between the Roses and the townspeople, leading to a more heartfelt and relatable show.

Schitt's Creek's Christmas special is considered one of its best episodes and with good reason. The Christmas episode features a reunion between Eugene Levy and Paul Shaffer, who previously worked together on an iconic production of Godspell in 1972. Another Godspell reunion happened in Schitt's Creek's final season when Victor Garber joined Levy and O'Hara, playing a former co-star of Moira Rose.
Schitt's Creek's Christmas special features a surprise cameo that also acts as a reunion for a landmark musical production. Despite running for six seasons, Schitt's Creek only got one Christmas episode. This came in the form of season 4 special "Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose," where Johnny tries to arrange a Christmas Eve gathering for family and friends with predictably messy results. Still, it ends on a sweet note. This outing is considered one of Schitt's Creek's best episodes, but there's a practical reason it was the first and only holiday episode.

"Happy Anniversary" marked the first major character growth for Johnny Rose, as he realized the value of Schitt's Creek and acknowledged the good it brought into his life. Johnny's confrontation with his old friends showcased a different side of him, demonstrating his growth and appreciation for the town and its residents. This episode set the stage for the Roses to embrace Schitt's Creek and embark on their own journeys of self-improvement.
In its first two seasons, Schitt's Creek proved to be a funny fish-out-of-water comedy, but it wasn't until the season 2 finale, "Happy Anniversary," that the show elevated itself from good to great through Johnny Rose. Throughout Schitt's Creek season 1, the Roses clearly see themselves as superior to Schitt's Creek's citizens while trying to do everything possible to get out. Season 2 centers around their realization that, because they may never get back on their feet, Schitt's Creek may be their home now.

Schitt's Creek's Christmas episode reveals the unseen figure of Stavros, Alexis' ex-boyfriend, highlighting how her present romance with Ted is more fulfilling." The brief flashback in the episode contrasts Stavros' disinterest in the Rose party with Ted's attentiveness and care for Alexis. The Christmas episode demonstrates the growth of the Rose family, finding true wealth and happiness despite their loss of money.
Schitt’s Creek often references various unseen figures associated with the Rose family’s glamorous past, with one such character actually making a subtle appearance in the sitcom’s Christmas episode. Family is a collection of people we can rely on through the good, bad, ugly, and mundane. This collection is one of the purest forms of relationships that humans can experience. Identities like socioeconomic status, Lgbtqia, and ethnicity are not the crux of a family. Amidst the dumpster fire that society can be, humans can find relief in family. Family can be all these wonderful things, but sometimes they’re just people we see on holidays.
Schitt’s Creek explores the institution of family in a hilarious way. In addition to being one of Carol Burnett’s favorite shows, Schitt’s Creek is a perfect sitcom. Creator Dan Levy had an idea for a show, and after a grueling conversation with his dad, Eugene Levy, they came up with the series. From the mysterious location of Schitt’s Creek and its residents to the Rose family's growth, Schitt’s Creek is laugh-out-loud funny and raises the bar for sitcoms.

Created by father and son Eugene and Dan Levy, what made Canadian sitcom Schitt's Creek so special were the cast and the characters. The show centered on the Rose family after they lost riches, landing them in the titular town until they could land on their feet. Being in a small town changed the family in more ways than one and introduced them to a hilarious group of locals who that taught them more about life than they ever would have learned when they were wealthy. Living in close quarters at a rundown motel brought the once-distant family closer as they leaned on each other for support.

Eugene Levy has had many iconic roles throughout his career, but he seems a little relieved that the films he gets recognized for the most has changed over the years.
For decades, the Cheaper by the Dozen 2 actor was known for playing Jim’s dad in American Pie, a movie where four teenage boys enter a pact before graduation with the goal to lose their virginity by prom night. In the 1999 film, he catches his character’s son (Jason Biggs as Jim) in quite a sexual situation involving an apple pie.
But in a recent interview with The Guardian, published online Sunday, Levy explained that “The American Pie thing got a bit tedious. People would bring me apple pie every time I went into a restaurant or to a wedding. Which is kind of funny, but it did happen a lot.”

Eugene Levy is recalling the mockumentary films he did with Christopher Guest. The Canadian actor shared that he recently reunited with the cast of A Mighty Wind to celebrate its 20th anniversary and in a new interview, Levy says that those films are likely done.
“Our last one was For Your Consideration back in 2006,” Levy told The Guardian. “Our fake documentaries — Chris [Guest] always hated the term ‘mockumentary’ because we’re not mocking, it’s more affectionate than that — but they were getting a little cookie-cutter in terms of story. Everything was kind of the same, except we just changed the subject. At a certain point, that becomes predictable. In the interim, so many television shows have picked up that form and just destroyed it.”
Levy also shared that he is thankful that he is no longer recognized for American Pie after the success of Schitt’s Creek.
“All over the world.

Despite his objections, Eugene Levy is a thousand feet or so above the Grand Canyon in a helicopter, with only his debilitating fear of heights to comfort him.
Whereas most people who seek out an aerial tour of one of the world’s great natural wonders would be taking in the sights, Levy hasn’t opened his eyes since the chopper took off — and he’d like to keep it that way.
How the celebrated character actor got here, on “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy,” is, like most of his greatest roles, a funny story.
In 2020, Levy closed the book on the tremendous success of “Schitt’s Creek,” the riches-to-rags story he co-created and starred in with his son, Dan Levy. His daughter, Sarah, also had a role. The series ended its six-season run with a record-breaking sweep of the Emmy Awards that year, earning Levy his first-ever acting Emmy.

Schitt's Creek gave each of its central characters a happy ending with a bright future, which perfectly sets the series up for a well-timed revival. This would, of course, require caution and care so as not to diminish the satisfying close of the original series. The popularity of reboots and spin-offs in recent years has proven that there are right and wrong ways to return to a story, especially one with such an emotionally impactful end. It would have to be timed right and set up in a way that doesn't contradict the trajectory of each character's happy ending.

Eugene Levy has been known to play well-meaning, offbeat, and often flustered supporting characters throughout his career. Whether he's a featured player or part of the ensemble, the veteran Canadian actor has stolen scenes left and right with his impeccable timing, earnest delivery, and trademark eyebrows. But following his stint on the fan-favorite series "Schitt's Creek," it seems like the theme of this era for him is stepping out of his comfort zone, which is also a huge aspect of his new show, "The Reluctant Traveller."
As part of the Television Critics Association Winter press tour, Levy appeared on a panel attended by /Film's Vanessa Armstrong to promote the upcoming Apple TV+ travel show. The eight-episode series will take the award-winning actor around the world to experience once-in-a-lifetime adventures with new friends, gorgeous scenery, and mouth-watering food, despite the fact that he normally wouldn't do any of these things if left to his own devices.

Eugene Levy is ready to hit the road. Apple TV+ announced today that its Levy-hosted show The Reluctant Traveler will premiere globally on February 24, 2023.
The eight-episode series follows the Schitt’s Creek star as he visits destinations in Costa Rica, Finland, Italy, Japan, Maldives, Portugal, South Africa and the United States.
Levy is a self-confessed, non-adventurous type, but apparently agreed to broaden his horizons for the show. The Reluctant Traveler is produced for Apple TV+ by Twofour. In addition to starring, Levy executive produces alongside David Brindley.
Levy won an Emmy in 2020 for his role as Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek.
The Reluctant Traveler joins a growing lineup of docuseries on Apple TV+, including The Big Conn about the biggest social security fraud in history; Prehistoric Planet featuring Oscar-nominated narrator Sir David Attenborough; and Make or Break, which is the World Surf League docuseries.

Eugene Levy is set to become The Reluctant Traveler for Apple TV+.
The Schitt’s Creek star is to host and exec produce the series, which comes from ITV-owned British production company Twofour.
Levy, who won an Emmy last year for his role as Johnny Rose in the Canadian sitcom, will visit some of the world’s most remarkable hotels, as well as explore the people, places and cultures that surround them in the series.
Levy is not usually adventurous or well versed in globe-trotting but has agreed that the time is right to broaden his horizons as long as he doesn’t have to battle his motion sickness, and still gets dinner at 7pm.

Schitt's Creek is one of the best contemporary sitcoms; while the show has many things going for it, one of the best things about Schitt's Creek is the zany and loveable Rose family which is lead by patriarch Johnny Rose, played by the legendary Eugene Levy.

Working with his family gave Levy a lot of room to push the boundaries with his character, and it also helped that he has a long working relationship with Catherine O'Hara who plays Moira. With such a welcoming community, Levy was able to give audiences an amazing, heartfelt, and downright hilarious portrayal of Johnny Rose.

Johnny Rose is the patriarch of the Rose family in Schitt's Creek. He's a smart businessman who is level-headed and tries to keep the family together in the midst of a major life change. Given the title is basically a Schitt pun, it’s perhaps surprising that Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek is one of the sweetest most nuanced shows around. Written by and starring father and son Eugene and Dan Levy it follows the Rose family, once extremely affluent, now entirely bankrupt after a tax scandal. The only asset they are allowed to retain is the town of Schitt’s Creek, which Johnny Rose bought for his son David as a joke.
If you haven’t seen the show – well go and watch it immediately (and also spoilers) but know that it takes a couple of episodes to really get into it. Once you’re in, you’re in.
Though there are many things to celebrate throughout the six seasons of the show – its incredible focus on inclusivity and how it handles its LGBTQ+ storylines, Moira and Johnny’s loving and supportive marriage, Alexis and Ted’s heartbreaking romance,...

2021 Golden Globe Final Predictions:
Best Actor In A TV Series (Comedy Or Musical)
Updated: Feb. 24, 2021
Awards Commentary:
While Catherine O’Hara appears on track to win a Golden Globe for “Schitt’s Creek,” Eugene Levy must face the “Ted Lasso” express. And star Jason Sudeikis has the ticket. Apple TV Plus is doing a tremendous job promoting “Ted Lasso” as a top awards contender, and in many ways it’s this year’s feel good vehicle in the way that “Schitt’s Creek” was during the last awards cycle. As the heart of “Ted Lasso,” Sudeikis may be hard to beat — especially if, again, the HFPA wants to get in and honor him before the Emmys. (Levy will have his Emmy from September to give him plenty of solace.

“Schitt’s Creek” swept the Primetime Emmys for the show’s farewell season. Series star and co-creator Eugene Levy scored two wins for Comedy Series and Comedy Actor as part of the awards haul. So it may come as a surprise to many that Levy’s recent Golden Globe nomination for Comedy/Musical Actor is his first ever mention from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Can the veteran performer continue his winning streak for playing Johnny Rose?
At the upcoming Golden Globes, Levy is nominated for Comedy/Musical Actor alongside Don Cheadle (“Black Monday”), Nicholas Hoult (“The Great”), Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”) and Ramy Youssef (“Ramy”). Holt and Sudeikis are also first-time Globe nominees, while Cheadle and Youssef are both past winners.
