Storyteller, songwriter, producer and bonafide theatre-phile, John has been recognized and awarded by prominent film festivals and competitions worldwide for his four feature screenplays: The Politics of Love and Dance, Connect, Pride & President and Last of the Burly Girls. Three of these works placed in the top 15%, 5% and 2% of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Nicholl Fellowship in 2019 (out of 7,302 submissions). A Creative Writing graduate from the University of Utah, John is also a mentee of former Spielberg assistant, Michael Lucker, and the former head of UCLA's Screenwriting Department, Dr. Lew Hunter. He is also a native Californian, a former New Yorker, a certified Project Management Professional, a TESOL-certified English teacher, and a practitioner of tantric yoga living in Toronto with his husband, Robert, and his miniature schnauzer, Letty Kaye.
