Laysla De Oliveira is slated to co-star in upcoming rodeo flick Cowboy, the directorial debut feature film from Cameron Duddy, bass player for country band Midland, The Hollywood Reporter can reveal.

De Oliveira (Lioness, Locke & Key, Guest of Honour) joins a cast that had already included Ben Foster, Rudy Pankow, Gabriel Basso, Midland lead singer Mark Wystrach and retired NFL veteran Taylor Lewan.

De Oliveira will play Alejandra, Lee’s ex-girlfriend and mother to an 11-month-old son.

Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg’s 41% Rotten Tomatoes Video Game Adaptation Finds New Life on Streaming
Image
When Uncharted debuted in theaters in 2022, the Ruben Fleischer-directed film received mixed reviews and faced criticism from fans of the video game franchise it was based on. While the action-adventure movie, which starred A-listers Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, earned significant box office numbers, it wasn't exactly a critical darling either. The film currently holds a disappointing 41% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences have been more generous, giving it an 89% score. It is widely considered an underrated title for both actors. Fortunately, streaming platforms exist to give critically panned movies a shot at redemption. That includes Uncharted, which recently climbed into Prime Video's Top 10 list.

Per FlixPatrol's recent record, Uncharted has managed to reach the fifth spot on Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies list for July 17, 2025. It is currently trailing behind A Knight's War, Hidden Figures, The Accountant 2, and Heads of State, which hold the top spot.

Outer Banks season 5 star is also feeling the loss of Rudy Pankow and JJ on set
Image
I think all of us Outer Banks fans are still not over the loss of our beloved JJ Maybank after the heartbreaking season 4 finale, and one of his fellow co-stars also feels the same. As filming for the fifth and final season of the Netflix hit has officially begun, things feel different on set without Rudy Pankow, as revealed by one of the stars.

Speaking with Extra TV recently to promote her new movie I Know What You Did Last Summer, Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah Cameron on Obx, talked about how being on set this time is "really strange" because they "shot four seasons with him." And now he's not a part of this final leg of the Pogue journey. She continued on to say that "there's a part of the dynamic that isn't there anymore."

Why Rudy Pankow's JJ Maybank Left Netflix's Outer Banks
Image
Netflix hits come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They can be true crime thrillers, high-concept dramas, or some of the most popular reality TV programming around. But, one specific recurs in the most beloved shows, though: big swings on their way out, or rather around the time Netflix tells them it's time to wrap things up. In the case of "The Outer Banks," having Rudy Pankow's JJ Maybank die at the end of season 4 definitely qualifies as one of the aforementioned "big swings." "The Outer Banks'" series creators laid out why the decision was made, and they chose to kill off one of their most popular characters to elicit a visceral reaction. It worked, as evidenced by the fan outcry such a high-profile death was bound to produce.

Over the course of four seasons, "The Outer Banks" fans had grown to find Pankow's character, JJ Maybank,...

The Pogues Are Back! Outer Banks' Final Season Announces Exciting Production Update With First BTS Cast Images
Image
Outer Banksseason 5 is officially in production, and fresh cast pictures have been released to celebrate the news. Obx has been a wild adventure since the start, but season 4 truly took that to a new level. As our favorite Pogues reluctantly teamed up with Rafe (Drew Starkey) in Morocco to find Blackbeard's long-lost (and fictional) Blue Crown, things went tragically sideways when they were pursued by JJ's (Rudy Pankow's) Kook and treasure-obsessed bio-dad, Groff (J. Anthony Crane). Now, they're headed to Portugal to seek the most delicious treasure of all: revenge.

After Outer Banks season 4's shocking and emotional ending, the remaining cast members, including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, and Carlacia Grant, are suiting up in their most breezy Pogue outfits one last time. Outer Banks season 5 is set to be the show's last and is expected to premiere on Netflix next year. Check...

Netflix Reveals First Photos from ‘Outer Banks’ Season 5
Image
Netflix has confirmed that Outer Banks will end with its fifth season, which is set to come out in 2026. Filming has already started in Charleston, South Carolina, and fans have gotten their first peek at what’s coming.

The final season will bring some changes. Two actors, Cullen Moss and J. Anthony Crane, are now part of the main cast. Moss has been around since the beginning as Sheriff Shoupe. Crane, who appeared in Season 4 as Chandler Groff, JJ’s father, is also getting a bigger role. These casting changes suggest that both characters will be more important this season.

Netflix also shared two new photos from the set. The images show the remaining Pogues, but there’s a noticeable change, JJ, played by Rudy Pankow, is missing. He died at the end of Season 4, and it looks like Drew Starkey’s character, Rafe, has stepped into his place in the group.

Netflix reveals Outer Banks season 5 filming start and release window
Image
Oh my goodness! Just look at that Outer Banks season 5 image above. Our favorite cast is posing in the new pic to commemorate the great news that filming for the fifth and final season has officially begun. The cameras are back up and rolling in Charleston, South Carolina to bring us the next chapter of this adventurous tale. Plus, there's more!

Netflix has also finally revealed that the final season of the thrilling teen drama is coming in 2026. This was pretty much a given, with a 2025 release basically not made possible since filming hadn't started yet. Production was supposed to start a little sooner back in May, but was delayed for some reason. Either way, now it has begun, and we can look forward to the drama on our screens next year. Though all of this news is so bittersweet without one important cast member.

I'm still not over the fact that JJ,...

The Pogues are back! Netflix revealed the first images from production on the fifth and final season of “Outer Banks” on Friday, depicting all of the Pogues — minus JJ.

One of Netflix's best shows just started filming the final season
Image
It's not quite the end of an era at Netflix, but it's definitely the beginning of the end for one of the best Netflix shows of the last five years.

The cast and crew of Outer Banks just started filming the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix original teen series on Monday, June 16.

Netflix has not announced that production has officially started on Outer Banks season 5, but a quick spin on X, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit reveals that Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss, Madison Bailey, Carlacia Grant, and the rest of the cast have started filming new scenes for season 5.

That start date is very much in line with what we'd learned from casting calls and reports about the final season. Originally, it looked like production was going to start in May 2025, but it was pushed back. At Tudum 2025 on May 31, Drew Starkey revealed that production would be starting shortly,...

Chase Stokes seems to hint JJ is still alive in Outer Banks season 5
Image
New evidence suggesting JJ Maybank is alive and Rudy Pankow will return in Outer Banks season 5 has surfaced. This time, it's because of none other than Pankow's friend and former Obx cast mate, Chase Stokes.

The cast of Outer Banks was featured during Netflix's Tudum event in Los Angeles on May 31. After the event, Stokes dropped several pictures from the night on his Instagram. Everything seemed normal until a meme from the game Merge Mansion appeared in the middle of pics of the Outer Banks cast. In the meme, an animated grandma, I guess, has "he is alive" written on her hand.

Outer Banks season 5 gets exciting update from Drew Starkey

Netflix’s Tudum live event might have failed to bring fans any new Outer Banks season 5 news, but thankfully, Drew Starkey came through for the fans!

While hitting the red carpet ahead of the event, Starkey caught up with Variety, where he dropped an exciting announcement about the plans for filming on the final season. “We’re all going back to Charleston, [South Carolina] in about two weeks,” Starkey revealed, confirming filming on the final season will begin in mid-June.

Starkey was unable to share much about the final episodes and what we can expect from the final season of the show, but he did seem to hint that filming will take place for several months. “We’re all going back to Charleston, and that’ll take us through the year. We’re all very, very excited to go back.” That’s right, it seems filming will run deep into the fall,...

Maika Monroe drops out of Neon horror movie in favor of a Colleen Hoover adaptation
Image
Neon's upcoming horror film Brides from Watcher director Chloe Okuno just received an update, leaving fans in a good news/bad news situation. Bad news first. Maika Monroe will no longer star in the vehicle that would have reunited her with Okuno after the pair worked together on Watcher.

The good news is that she's been replaced by Olivia Cooke, who is also a great actress and no stranger to the world of horror, having starred in Thoroughbreds, Ouija, and Bates Motel, though nowadays she's best known for playing Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon.

Deadline shares that Monroe had to drop out of the project due to scheduling issues with her film Reminders of Him, an adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name in production from Universal Pictures.

Okuno made her feature directorial debut with Watcher, a Hitchcockian thriller about a woman who believes...

New Adaptation From It Ends With Us Author Adds Gilmore Girls Actress to Star-Studded Cast
Image
Colleen Hoover is one of the most popular contemporary romance authors, rising to fame thanks to novels like Ugly Love, Confess, and Slam. However, Hoover's popularity skyrocketed in 2024 with the release of It Ends With Us, the adaptation of her bestselling 2016 novel.

Although It Ends With Us ended up being a widely controversial project because of the legal battle between director, producer, and star Justin Baldoni and lead actress Blake Lively, the movie was a box office hit. The film received mixed reviews from the critics, but the audience enjoyed it and grossed $349.7 million at the worldwide box office against a modest $25 million budget. More adaptations are on the way, and Deadline revealed that Universal's adaptation of Reminders of Him has just added Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham to the cast.

Reminders of Him is the last standalone novel Coover published, which was released on Jan. 18, 2022. The same year,...

Outer Banks Tries Too Hard With Friends to Lovers, It’s More Cringe-Worthy Than Heartfelt
Image
Outer Banks leans hard into the friends-to-lovers trope and ends up face-planting. Instead of slow-burn charm, we get awkward stares, clunky moments, and zero real spark.

Frankly speaking, it’s less romantic tension and more secondhand embarrassment on loop. The very shift from friendship to romance feels rushed, forced, and way too scripted to land any real emotional punch.

Sure, the show nails the beach vibes and adventure chaos, but when it tries to get cute with love, it fumbles hard. The chemistry falls flat, the buildup lacks bite, and the whole thing feels more cringe than compelling.

It is regarded as one of the popular coming-of-age stories with a stellar cast including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, and others. What starts with a seemingly forbidden romance story in an ideal vacation town setting turns out to be a hunt for treasure with a lot of low and high waves coming their way.
