“Gleefully gruesome” Killer Clown Horror Movie is Now Free to Stream from the Studio Who Brought You ‘Terrifier’
Image
A ghastly grinning nightmare with a mysterious deck of cards is now yours to stream for free. The Jester, Dread’s hallucinatory Halloween-set chiller that quietly and quickly earned a cult following since its initial release, is now streaming on Tubi. It’s another banger distributed by our sister company Dread, the same lunatics behind cult genre titles like Terrifier, Beezel, and Benny Loves You.

Directed by Colin Krawchuk and based on a series of viral short films, The Jester tells the story of two sisters who, on an otherwise quiet Halloween night, find themselves stalked by a mysterious and seemingly supernatural trickster. The Jester—part mime, part magician, all menace—communicates only through gesture and expression, but his actions speak louder than you can scream.

The Jester was a hit for Dread, resonating with fans of indie horror, the Terrifier franchise, and horror hounds craving something off the beaten path.

‘The Jester’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Matt Servitto, Michael Sheffield, Lelia Symington, Delaney White | Written by Colin Krawchuk, Michael Sheffield | Directed by Colin Krawchuk

The Jester opens as John walks alone at night. A figure in a top hat and orange suit, the Jester appears and disappears behind him.

A young girl appears in an alley and again in front of him. He calls the now grown girl, his daughter Emma who is not happy to hear from him. The Jester confronts him and as John pleads for his life conjures up a noose and, using his tie to control it, hangs him.

At his funeral, we find out he has another daughter Jocelyn (Delaney White; Pooling Evidence) who he had after walking out on Emma and her mother. The Jester also puts in an appearance much to the dismay of a pair of gravediggers.

Director Colin Krawchuk and co-writer Michael Sheffield are both making...

The Jester review – fairground horror puts a lot of imagination into its carnage
Paul Daniels from hell despatches its victims with style but feeble plotting means film adds up to not a lot

We all understand that Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger et al are the flamboyant prima donnas of their respective horror franchises, so it seems fitting that the eponymous bogeyman of this new slasher flick plies his murderous trade with a showman’s flair. Rather than springing out of the shadows, the jester (Michael Sheffield) – already the star of three shorts well-received on YouTube – is always front and centre, starting with a dapper intro sequence with him in his tangerine suit and nightmare mask, twirling his cane and primping his tie.

It’s just a shame the non-homicidal portions have none of the same sprezzatura. Writer-director Colin Krawchuk saddles us with a poorly written, lead-footed plot delivered in stodgy lumps between killings. After the apparent suicide by hanging of her estranged father...
