Image
In the official trailer for Crunchyroll’s new dark and grisly series “Gachiakuta,” the main character Rudo is on his hunt for revenge after he was framed for murder and cast out by his community into a filthy trash pit where terrifying beasts roam.

“I’ll hit those Sphereite a–holes with everything I’ve got!” Rudo exclaims of his enemies in the trailer, which dropped Thursday night. The video also shows Rudo calling out the classicism in his society, which gives those with affluence more resources and privilege.

“‘Sphere’ this and ‘Ground’ that … ‘Trash’ this and ‘tribesfolk’ that. Quit sorting people with the labels you choose!” he shouts.

Before “Gachiakuta” hits Crunchyroll on July 6, it will premiere early in 15 countries and regions through special advance screenings, which will be held at major anime events. The screening for the U.S. takes place at the Anime Expo on July 4 at 10 a.

The Sixteenth Installment of The Gundam Franchise Comes to Prime Video With ‘Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX’
Image
The second television series to be aired during Japan's Reiwa era, and the second in a row. ‘Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX’ brings us back to the Gundam franchise. Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Bandai Namco Filmworks—previously known as Sunrise, the Gundam franchise has found a mirror-lined corridor into pop culture far beyond The Land of the Rising Sun. Shows like ‘Mobile Suit Gundam 00’ and ‘Mobile Suit Gundam Wing’ have shown huge successes worldwide, with the latter having become such a global phenomenon that it has often been seen outperforming veteran series like ‘Dragon Ball Z’ and ‘Sailor Moon’ in the Cartoon Network late-night television programming block “Toonami”. What started on April 7, 1979, with the eerily grounded release of ‘Mobile Suit Gundam’ introduced the “real robot” mecha anime subgenre, which unlike its predecessory brother the “super robot” subgenre leaned upon the reliance on implausible abilities and often fantastical powers, “real...

One Piece: Shanks Actor Sparks Retirement Rumors Thanks to... Gundam
Image
Warning: Contains spoilers for Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Beginning.Following the premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Beginning, fans are worried about the possible retirement of Shuichi Ikeda i.e. the voice of One Piece’s Shanks. Long before Shuichi Ikeda was cast as Shanks, he made a name for himself as Char Aznable in Mobile Suit Gundam, and with the popularity of Gundam and how often he’s reprised the role, it’s easily the most iconic role of Ikeda’s career.

Few voice actors are as iconic as Shuichi Ikeda, but his time as a voice actor might be ending. Char Aznable appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Beginning compilation film as part of the reveal that it takes place in an alternate timeline where Char won the war, but rather than be voiced by Shuichi Ikeda, he’s voiced by Yuuki Shin of Tokyo Revengers fame.

10 Best Isekai Anime Like KonoSuba
Image
KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! is the funniest isekai series of all time. It features one of the most frustratingly lovable cast of characters, a world filled with mystery, and some of the best writing in anime, all genres included. When Satou Kazuma is transported to his new world, he's allowed to bring any one thing with him. When the Goddess Aqua laughs at him during this process, he decides to take her instead, creating a hilarious dynamic within the first episode.

To be a great show like KonoSuba, an isekai series needs to have some element of humor. It also needs to have good animation, and at least decent writing. While no show can truly compare with KonoSuba's outrageous humor, some can get close. Still, there are plenty of isekai series out there that are great for anyone who loves watching Kazuma, Darkness, Aqua, and Megumin bumble their way to success.

10 Best Isekai Anime Like Overlord
Image
Overlord is a popular isekai series that marries brutality and humor to create a hilarious show that's not afraid of exploring darker themes. The star at the center of the series is Ainz Ooal Gown. He's left alone in the video game Yggdrasil, but before he was trapped, he was one of the strongest characters in the game. Now he's alone with only his NPCs to keep him company. After discovering his new situation, he set out to dominate the entire world in the hopes that he could find another person like him.

To be a good Overlord isekai comparison, a show doesn't need to be as dark and funny as Overlord, but it certainly doesn't hurt. The best shows like Overlord will have smart companions to guide the main character, an interesting world filled with the promise of adventure, and a broken protagonist with powers so absurd, they stand...

10 Best Anime Like Mushoku Tensei
Image
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is one of the best isekai series of all time. It features one of the biggest and richest worlds in isekai, great, well-rounded characters, and an incredibly divisive main character in Rudeus Greyrat. The story of Mushoku Tensei spans Rudy's entire life, starting with his reincarnation into the new world as a baby and leaving no stone unturned. Rudeus begins the story as a baby, eventually goes to magic college, and even begins a family of his own. While not many other animes are like it, there are a few that could be considered worthy comparisons.

To be a good Mushoku Tensei comparison, a show doesn't need to be an isekai, but it doesn't hurt. The biggest qualities a series in common with Mushoku Tensei would have would be its thorough worldbuilding, a great cast of side characters, and a deep, meaningful story that doesn't leave...

Strongest Bleach Kido Users, Ranked
Image
The shonen action anime Bleach regularly expanded upon its combat system, with zanpakuto being just the start. When the anime first started, Ichigo Kurosaki had no powers except a basic zanpakuto, putting him at a disadvantage when he faced foes who could use things like shikai, bankai, and kido spells. The latter, in particular, can make any Soul Reaper far more flexible in battle beyond what their zanpakuto can do.

Ichigo never learned to use kido spells, but he did meet many characters who could, and some of them were enormously powerful with such magic. Starting in the fondly-remembered Soul Society arc, Bleach introduced its viewers to all kinds of kido spells used to protect the user, restrain a target, or deal immense damage to the enemy. Ten particular Soul Reapers stand out as the most potent kido users of all, combining kido with their zanpakuto or even martial arts...

The Darkest & Most Evil Fullmetal Alchemist Villains
Image
Both the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist series and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood have excellent rogues galleries to challenge Edward and Alphonse, although they're very different from one another. While the 2003 adaptation possesses a darker tone overall, it's in the manga-loyal Brotherhood where most of the franchise's darkest villains are found.

Both anime adaptations of Hiromu Arakawa's manga are serious and mature stories where the villains of each perfectly complement their themes. Known for their horrific acts, tragic stories and, in some cases, more realistic forms of evil, Fullmetal Alchemist's cast of villains include some of the darkest monsters in anime.
