Chicago Med cast: Who plays Ainsley Towne?
Oliver Platt, Steven Weber, Marlyne Barrett, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Jessy Schram in Chicago Med (2015)
The Chicago Med cast has added a new actress.

During the most recent episode, A woman stopped by the hospital to see Dr. John Frost (Darren Barnet).

As he explained it, this was the actress who had played his TV mom many years prior.

Frost was a child television star and it has been referenced a lot this season.

Frost also suggested to his co-workers that the visit was a nice surprise, but he retreated to the bathroom and vomited after interacting with the woman.

The writing has hinted that something darker is at play in this situation and that future episodes will flesh out that storyline.

The Chicago Med cast adds Jessalyn Gilsig as Ainsley Towne

Glee’s Jessalyn Gilsig has joined the Chicago Med cast as Ainsley Towne.

Gilsig played Terri Schuester (and Terri Del Monico) on Glee, another character with a darker side, such as when she faked a pregnancy.

Wimbledon women's singles draw: Swiatek plays Zhu Lin in campaign opener; Rybakina opens against Rogers
Image
London, June 30 (Ians) World no 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland will open her Wimbledon 2023 women’s singles campaign against Zhu Lin while defending champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan has been handed a tough first-week draw.

Fresh off a successful Roland Garros title defence, Swiatek is projected to face No.7 seed Coco Gauff, against whom she has yet to lose a set in seven meetings, in the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, the Kazakh No.3 seed will open her campaign against the American Shelby Rogers, who has defeated Rybakina twice in five previous meetings.

In the second round, Rybakina could face Alize Cornet, whose 25 triumphs over Top 10 opponents include an upset of Swiatek at Wimbledon 2022 that snapped the World No.1’s 37-match winning streak.

There could also be a rematch of last year’s Wimbledon final in the quarterfinals, where Rybakina is projected to face No.6 seed Ons Jabeur of Tunisia.

Indian Wells: Swiatek back to defend her crown; sit on top of the draw
Image
Indian Wells (USA), March 7 (Ians) World No.1 Iga Swiatek is back to defend her crown at the Indian Wells Masters, as the Pole sits at the top of the draw as the No.1 seed player.

Main-draw play at the Wta 1000 event starts on March 8, with World No.1 and defending champion Swiatek leading the field. Her run to the title last year was part of her 37-match winning streak, the longest of the 2000s.

Like all of the 32 seeded players, Swiatek has received a first-round bye. She will play the winner of the first-round match between Claire Liu and Alison van Uytvanck.

Two of the four former Indian Wells champions in the field could face off in the third round, with No.32 seed and 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu as a potential opponent for Swiatek.

No.5 seed Caroline Garcia is the other Top 10 seed in the first quarter. Also in this quarter are 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu,...

Australian Open: Sabalenka eases past Rogers to reach third round
Image
Melbourne, Jan 19 (Ians) World No. 5 Aryna Sabalenka’s winning start to the year continued on Thursday, as she defeated dangerous floater Shelby Rogers to reach the third round of the 2023 Australian Open.

Sabalenka registered a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Rogers to reach the third round in Melbourne for the third straight year at Rod Laver Arena. She hit 32 winners, nearly doubling Rogers’ 17 in the match that lasted for 1 hour and 27 minutes.

The 24-year-old has started this year 6-0, having won the Adelaide International 1 title earlier this month. It is the second time in the last three years that Sabalenka has won her first six matches of the season, having also done so in 2021.

Sabalenka had saved nearly 80 per cent of break points she had faced during her hot start to the year, but Rogers was still able to draw first blood, taking a 3-1 lead in an opening set filled with lengthy games.

Top seed Swiatek defeats American Davis to secure US Open fourth-round spot
Image
New York, Sep 4 (Ians) World No.1 Iga Swiatek of Poland moved into the fourth round of the US Open on Sunday (Ist) defeating American Lauren Davis 6-3, 6-4, keeping the two-time French Open champion on course for her maiden singles title at Flushing Meadows.

The top-ranked Swiatek was tested in the match but she stepped up during crucial moments to equal her best performance at the season-ending Grand Slam. The Pole had also reached the fourth round last year.

Swiatek, 21, is trying to become the first player since Serena Williams to win seven titles in a single year; the now-retired American having achieved the feat eight years ago, when she also became the last No.1 seed to take the US Open title.

Swiatek has played amazing tennis this year, with her 37-match winning streak earning her the French Open crown and Wta 1000s titles in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Rome.

French Open: Petra Kvitova saves match point to stay afloat (Lead)
Image
Paris, May 31 (Ians) No.11 seed Petra Kvitova played some of her best tennis as she saved a match point in a first-round French Open match against Belgian qualifier Greet Minnen, and won 6-7(3), 7-6(5), 6-1 to stay afloat on Sunday.

Had the Czech player lost it would have been the first time in 11 years that she had gone down in the first round. The last time she had lost in the opener was in 2010, when she was an unseeded 20-year-old and lost to Australian qualifier Sophie Ferguson.

Staring down 30-40 at 6-5 in the second set, Kvitova finished off a seven-shot rally with a crosscourt backhand winner to stay in it and hardly looked back to seal the win in two-hour, 16 minutes. She forced a final set by winning the last three points of the tiebreak, and surrendered just three points on serve in the decider.

Earlier on Sunday, world No.

Jane Fonda Fights On
Jane Fonda at an event for U (2006)
On a recent winter day, Jane Fonda pops out of a side room, looking every bit the Hollywood celebrity-activist that Trumpistas hate. The blond hair someone once described as needing its own agent is perfect, and her white blouse is stylish. She cradles her lapdog Tulea in her arms.

We are at the Wing, a women’s workplace in West Hollywood, for a talk on the climate crisis. It doesn’t seem like Tulea has a speaking role.

Instead, Fonda hands her to a friend and sits on a stool...
