Production has officially wrapped on “Kopitiam Days”, a heartfelt feature-length anthology created in celebration of Singapore’s 60th year of independence (SG60). The team marked the occasion with a celebratory wrap party last night at Goodwood Park Hotel.

Spanning the past, the present, and the future of Singapore, the anthology comprises six short films – each centred around a kopitiam (coffeeshop), a cultural symbol woven into the nation’s social fabric. The film brings together a stellar ensemble of Singaporean talents and is helmed by six established and rising filmmakers. Award-winning filmmaker Eric Khoo serves as the Executive Producer and Creative Director.

Just a few days back, I watched a futuristic post-apocalyptic Malayalam film, Gaganachari. This film was about the lead characters living in a bunker to avoid the wrath of troubled times. Even though we need to applaud the writer and the director for their originality, the story kind of lost the plot later on. Kadaisi Ulaga Por, directed by Hiphop Tamizha Adhi, is yet another futuristic story where the political situation of the world goes from bad to worse. The movie is very on the nose about how political dynamics work and sometimes goes over the top. Nevertheless, it is an engaging tale whose plot will be discussed below.

Hyderabad, Sep 2 (Ians) Hitaashee Bakshi survived a late charge from Pranavi Urs to emerge champion in the 11th leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club, here on Friday.

Hitaashee recovered from a double bogey on the Par-5 seventh hole on the front nine, to card an even-par 72 in the final round. This was her third win of the season, having won the third and sixth legs of the Tour.

Sneha Singh, lying one shot adrift and in second place behind Hitaashee, had a rough day with a double bogey, three bogeys against three birdies for a 74 that saw her slip to third place. She still awaits her maiden trophy as a professional, even though she has emerged triumphant as an amateur.

It was expectedly to be a close battle between the three players in the lead group of Hitaashee, Sneha and Pranavi.
