Ukpaa was born and raised in Lagos and Los Angeles to Capt. Herbert Ukpaa and Beatrice Ukpaa. His mother was a church-goer and took him along with her regularly. His father was a Sailor with Maeskline and they had a wonderful relationship before he passed on in1998.
In 2005, Theo graduated with first class honors in Economics from the University of Benin and went on to do his MBA on full scholarship at the Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. While in California, Ukpaa followed his childhood passion for film and went to study Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. Theo was inspired from Childhood in Nigeria by watching "Ti Oluwa Nile" a feature film in indigenous language by Veteran Filmmaker Tunde Kelani and "Ahanna" by Veteran filmmaker Late Amaka Igwe who also thought him how to write screenplays.
He grew up acting and Directing theatre plays and musicals which shaped his childhood. In 2017, Ukpaa produced and Directed his first Feature film 'Lagos Landing' which is currently streaming on Prime Video after theatrical releases.
Theo has gone on to established a successful career as a writer, director and producer for stage, television and film
