Kate is responsible for finding compelling new factual projects for Omnifilm and directing the factual development team throughout all stages of the development process. Her development credits include the award-nominated science documentary, Dinosaur Cold Case, which aired on CBC's flagship science series The Nature of Things and on Smithsonian Channel in the US. The film made CBC's list of top 10 most watched documentaries of 2020. She also developed and contributed to the writing of the Animal Planet Canada series Wild Bear Rescue, which ran for three seasons and also sold to Animal Planet US, Viasat and Knowledge Network.
Kate's background is in print and radio journalism, where she worked for 10 years as a reporter, editor and political columnist for outlets including The Province, Star Metro and News1130. She got her start in television at Parallax Films, working as a researcher on the six-part nature documentary series Bahama Blue.
