Receiving 4.5 out of 5 from our reviewer Erica Vilkus Cara set Pigeon Shine FrightFest on fire last year at its sold out performance. Directed by Hayden Hewitt this gore-filled psychological horror is now avalible for everyone to enjoy so we caught up with the man behind the amazing movie.
Starring Elle O’Hara as the eponymous Cara – a young woman whose world is spiralling out of control. Haunted by her traumatic past, she lives with a mentally unstable roommate and struggles with a failed career as an online sex worker. Her father is unable to communicate, while her well-meaning mother offers little support. But above all, Cara is consumed by a terrifying belief that there’s a conspiracy to send her back to the harrowing institution.

Credits rolling over, a montage of images that include dildos and men’s faces leering from computer monitors give way to a nightmarish hallucination sequence. Cara, a new psychological horror film from writer/director Hayden Hewitt, starts as it intends to continue, unrelentingly dark and grim.
Cara has recently been released from the grossly misnamed “Sunnyside”, a mental institution where she spent the past several years. Now, she shares an apartment with Ashley who, like her, works as a cam girl. Not a great life, but better than being institutionalized, something she swears she won’t let happen to her again.
Unfortunately, Cara’s mental state seems to already be deteriorating, as evidenced by the post-credits hallucination, and her imagining her therapist Gemma repeatedly calling her a whore during one of their sessions.

We have the first trailer for Supernova. In a typical year, something like this might instantly be finding itself in the awards season conversation. It sees a pair of celebrated actors in Stanely Tucci and Colin Firth leading the way in director Harry Macqueen's (Hinterland) sophomore feature. But this is no typical year and who knows what awards season will look like. In any event, based on what we're seeing in the first trailer, this looks to be a powerful and emotional tale of romantic love.
It opens up with Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth's characters, who are in a long-term romantic relationship with one another, taking a road trip with one another. It all seems pleasant and charming, at least at first. We come to find that one of them has a debilitating disease, which leads to emotions running hot. But that appears to merely be the tip of the iceberg.

Newcomers Charlie Blackwood, Julie Hannan and Briony Monroe star.
Covert Media has come on board at Efm to handle worldwide sales on British filmmaker Scott Vickers’ horror thriller Matriarch.
The film, which wrapped last year, shot over 12 days in late 2016 in a farm owned by executive producer Alan Cuthbert in Balfron near Glasgow. Vickers’ partner at New Light Films, Steven Little, produces.
Vickers cut his teeth in acting, screenwriting and short film directing and wrote the screenplay about a pregnant woman and her husband who are taken in by a farmer and his wife after their car crashes in the remote Scottish countryside.
Once inside, they realise their hosts’ daughter is in fact abducted and made headlines when she went missing years earlier. Things begin to heat up when the farmer and his wife tell the couple they want to take the woman’s baby once the child is born.
