"Expectations are generally not good for your health." Can Tuna Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie film called Birder, marking the feature directorial debut of actor / filmmaker Nate Dushku. This first premiered at the 2023 OutSouth Queer Film Festival in North Carolina recently, and it's also playing at Out on Film, Seattle Queer Film Festival, and the San Antonio Q Fest. A bird watcher, Kristian Brooks invades a nude queer campground on a remote lake in New Hampshire. He wears whatever cover he needs to ensnare the locals in his dark fetish in this nightmarish erotic thriller. "Consent has never been more deadly," is the tagline. This guy is creepy! Michael Emery stars as Kristian, who manipulates the "others to serve his dark fetish while blurring the line between protagonist and antagonist." The film also stars David J. Cork, Cody Sloan, Jes Davis, Uki Pavlovic, Ryan Czerwonko, and Miles Crawford.

Birder is a queer erotic thriller that explores the lines of consent in a dom/sub space, and it delves into dark spaces in queer culture that society often ignores. The film follows the seductive bird watcher Kristian Brookes, played by Michael Emery, as he lures locals to remote areas and wears the skin of a bear. The trailer builds tension without fully revealing his true intentions. Despite being billed as an erotic thriller, Birder aims to convey a positive message and handled sensitive material with caution. Intimacy coordinators were involved, and nude scenes were choreographed within guidelines to ensure comfort and appropriate camera angles.
