Preston Barney(I)

The founder of WitnessTree Productions, Preston Scott Barney was raised by a single mother with two sisters. Born into the oneness apostolic church, South Bay Pentecostal under the UPCI organization, Preston took a heart to God, creativity, and entertaining movies early on. Memorizing the 10 Commandments from a VHS cartoon and performing in front of the church when most children were still learning how to speak was his first taste of performance and showmanship by speaking things of eternal value. He subsequently went on to perform and help backstage with every church play and production. Here he started drawing characters and writing stories of his own. Upon junior high, Preston began to mature, wanting more thematic, graphic, and fun teenage entertainment. The problem was there wasn't any that kept his own moral code and the spiritual rules of his household. Now in high school, he couldn't focus on anything other than drawing characters and writing stories that he purposed would one day entertain the masses while building their moral and spiritual man. It was decided at 15 years old he would switch from his private Christian school and transfer to the San Diego school of creative and performing arts where he would graduate and aim his artistic talents to a mission. After high school, he studied videography under the radio television and film major of San Diego city College where he made his first set of completed short films and won the directing change Film award for $1000 in 2018.

He then was given the lead position in his churches video ministry; running the live stream, making lesson format video sent to Home groups (and all over SoCal being his pastor Art Hodges III is the SoCal district superintendent of the organization) and producing engaging weekly announcement videos that received local acclaim for their humor and storytelling. Now, Preston Barney creates short films premiering at venues on third Avenue in downtown Chula Vista, continuing the dream of making exciting films that means something.
