The 2024 Tribeca Festival has announced its lineup of live events and official selections for audio storytelling and games with special guest stars. This year’s festival, presented by Okx, takes place June 5 through 16, with the audio storytelling program running June 9 to 13 and the games lineup June 12 to 16.

Tribeca’s 2024 audio storytelling live events program includes the 10th anniversary of Vox Media’s award-winning true crime podcast “Criminal,” with Melissa McCarthy joining. The audio storytelling section of the festival is presented by Audible.

Lena Waithe will be a guest on Stitcher Studios’ “Vibe Check,” a dissection of news, entertainment, politics, and everything in between through a Black queer lens, while Slate’s “Death Sex & Money” hosts an event on the art of the interview with special guest Kara Swisher.

Broadway Podcast Network’s Finding Fire Island, a new docuseries about the “queer mecca” that inspired Hulu and Searchlight’s Fire Island, will feature the film’s writer-star Joel Kim Booster, and co-stars Margaret Cho and Matt Rogers.

Created, executive produced and narrated by Hot Takes & Deep Dives host Jess Rothschild, the new podcast will debut on July 6 and will also feature Sister Act and The First Wives Club scribe Paul Rudnick, Tony-winning A Strange Loop producer and former Advocate editor-in-chief Zach Stafford, 10-year resident Fire Island DJ Lina Bradford and more filmmakers, authors, directors, performers and icons from the LGBTQ community.

“It’s important to create art about Fire Island which really memorializes the history and the important figures,” actress and comedian Cho said in a statement. “There are so many stories to tell from the island as this legendary queer mecca.”

Exclusive: Former ICM political strategist Brandon Sharp has launched Agenda, a management and production company that will be dedicated to advancing inclusive entertainment and media projects. The company will work with TV and film writers, actors, directors, musicians, authors, artists, public intellectuals, playwrights, and business founders from predominately untapped communities to realize their projects on more equitable grounds.

“Representation for representation’s sake is not enough,” said Sharp. “The strides we’ve made for people of color in front of and behind the camera are significant, but the business side of media and entertainment remains largely unchallenged. The people who stand to profit the most from the boon in ‘diverse’ content are not the originators of that content, and that has to change.”

Sam Sanders, Saeed Jones and Zach Stafford are coming together to host a podcast for SiriusXM’s Stitcher that will focus on news and culture from a Black and queer perspective.

The weekly series, Vibe Check, debuts on August 17 and will probe topics like Madonna’s Vogue, Beyoncé’s latest album and Lil Nas X’s career, but in a lighthearted manner meant to emulate a group chat between friends.

“We couldn’t be more excited to invite people into our funny, thoughtful, and supportive sister circle on Vibe Check,” the trio said in a joint statement. “This show is the culmination of years of friendship, and we look forward to helping you keep your vibe right!”

Pride Media, home to Out Magazine, The Advocate and Pride.com, has been acquired by Equal Entertainment and is rebranding as Equal Pride.

The acquisition covers all existing assets, including the digital arms of Out and The Advocate, Out Traveler Magazine and Plus Magazine, and returns the country’s largest LGBTQ-owned media, digital, TV and entertainment company to LGBTQ+ majority ownership.

Mark Berryhill will serve as Equal Pride’s chief executive officer, with Michael Kelley, chairman and president of global growth and development, reporting to Berryhill. Diane Anderson-Minshall, Pride Media’s first female CEO, is set to retain C-suite responsibilities as chief global and development officer, with her work focused on editorial brands and international audience expansion. Joe Lovejoy is named chief financial officer, with Stuart Brockington upped to EVP of sales and partnerships, effective immediately.

A Ferrari appeared to lose control and rammed into Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant Pump on Sunday afternoon, forcing its closure for the afternoon.

The restaurant, which is featured on Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules,” is located in West Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard between Robertson and San Vicente Boulevards.

The high-end silver sports car crashed through the patio seating area and broke the front door glass. One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Variety confirms.

Vanderpump and her husband, Ken Todd, own numerous restaurants including Sur, Villa Blanca and Tom Tom. Pump, which specializes in Mediterranean fare, opened in 2014.

Todd was on the scene of the crash, according to TMZ.

The Advocate magazine’s editor in chief Zach Stafford captured the scene on Twitter.

BuzzFeed has tapped new co-hosts for its morning news show Am To Dm, which airs on weekdays live on Twitter.

Alex Berg and Zach Stafford will fill the two slots vacated by former co-hosts Isaac Fitzgerald and Saeed Jones as of May 28. Fitzgerald and Jones departed the series to pursue their respective writing projects, Deadline reports. Am To Dm launched in 2017 to target millennials with a unique perspective on the day’s biggest news stories and Twitter trends, as well as appearances from starry guests like Viola Davis, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Serena Williams, Stacey Abrams, and Daniel Radcliffe.

Berg (pictured above) previously served as a supervising producer on Am to Dm, and has guest-hosted the chat show on several occasions. She has also written for NBC News, Teen Vogue, and served as a correspondent at Mic.

Exclusive: Buzzfeed News’ Am to Dm has named Alex Berg and Zach Stafford as new hosts of the morning news program which streams live on Twitter weekday mornings at 10 Am Et.

Berg and Stafford replace Isaac Fitzgerald and Saeed Jones who have hosted the show since its 2017 launch, and recently announced plans to leave to pursue their individual writing projects. The new hosts will take the helm on Tuesday, May 28.

In January, Buzzfeed News and Twitter renewed the millennial-targeted show through 2019. Am to Dm highlights trending tweets, looks at the biggest news stories of the day and features interviews with guests and experts. Recent guests have included Viola Davis, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Serena Williams, Stacey Abrams and Daniel Radcliffe, among others.

The editor of the Lgbt website Into on Tuesday apologized for a post that called Ariana Grande’s new music video “anti-queer,” saying the story “should never have been published.”

Into also formally cut ties with the post’s writer, transgender activist Eli Erlick, after the site’s management became aware of several unspecified “allegations made in the past” about her.

“Given the seriousness of these allegations, I personally spoke with the writer and immediately launched an internal investigation,” Into Editor-in-Chief Zach Stafford in a post Tuesday afternoon. “Into was not aware of these until Monday after publishing. And the writer will not be contributing to Into for the time being.”

Stafford did not respond to inquiries about the nature of the allegations. Erlick did not respond to requests for comment, either.

The Lgbt news website Into has removed the byline for an opinion piece accusing Ariana Grande’s new music video “thank u, next” of being “anti-queer” after the writer of the story received death threats.

“We have decided to remove the author’s name from this piece after the editorial team was alerted that a high number of death threats were being made against the writer as a result of the opinions presented in this piece,” read an editor’s note affixed to the top of the article.

“Into has historically been a place for varying opinions from Lgbtq people around the world, and will remain such a place — but these opinions never warrant violence,” it continued. “And when a writer’s own life could potentially be at stake, we must take necessary steps to ensure their safety.”
