India to get big influencer boxing moment with Logan Paul/Conor McGregor fight
Image
The next big event in the world of influencer boxing looks likely to take place in India. That’s where creator, podcaster, and entrepreneur Logan Paul will fight against former UFC star Conor McGregor, according to a statement from McGregor himself.

McGregor broke the news of the Paul fight in a tweet. “The rumors of a bout with [Ilia Topuria] are false,” wrote the 36-year-old Irishman. “I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India.”

The Ambanis rank among the world’s wealthiest families. Patriarch Mukesh Ambani currently ranks as the richest person in Asia and the 9th-richest person in the world, according to Forbes.

As Indians embrace the influencer boxing trend, a high-profile fight between a major creator and a combat sports legend would be a fitting next step. Last month, when Logan’s brother Jake fought Mike Tyson live on Netflix,...

Image
You are reading an exclusive WrapPRO article for free. Want to level up your entertainment career? Go here for more information.

Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan-led “Hot Frosty” debuted as Netflix’s most-watched movie of the week.

The holiday flick brought in 16 million views from its Nov. 13 release through Sunday, Nov. 19, ranking as the top title on Netflix’s most-watched movie list for the week of Nov. 11. That viewership paled in comparison to the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight, though, which brought in a whopping 46.6 million views, ranking as the most-watched title of the week.

The 46.6 million views includes both the main Tyson-Paul fight, as well as the three other fights that transpired before they entered the ring — Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano, Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos and Neeraj Goyat vs. Whindersson Nunes. From the opening to closing bell of the Tyson-Paul fight, an estimated average minute...

Jake Paul, Mike Tyson Fight Card Draws 108 Million Viewers Globally, Netflix Says
Image
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s boxing match on Netflix drew 108 million viewers worldwide, the streamer announced Tuesday.

According to Netflix, that makes it the “most streamed global sporting event ever.” The fight garnered an estimated average minute audience (Ama) of 108 million live viewers globally. The event peaked at 65 million concurrent streams, with 38 million concurrent streams in the US. Total viewership Ama estimates are derived from TVision data in the US and first party data in global markets.

The streaming sports event was the top title on Netflix for the week, with 46.6 million views through Sunday night.

Netflix had previously reported that the heavyweight boxing match between Paul and Tyson was viewed by 60 million households globally, while 50 million households globally tuned in live for the co-main event of Serrano vs. Taylor 2. Netflix now says that the Taylor-Serrano fight averaged an estimated 74 million live viewers globally and became the most-watched professional...

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson peaked at 65 million concurrent viewers for Netflix. Was it a success?
Image
After months of hype, Jake Paul‘s big night has come and gone. On November 15, the rambunctious creator defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson in an eight-round tilt that ended in a unanimous decision.

Paul’s victory improved his professional record to 12-1 and cemented influencer boxing as a mainstream phenomenon. At the same time, the broadcast was plagued by technical difficulties, and the quality of the combat varied widely from fight to fight. Despite Paul vs. Tyson’s massive viewership, many observers will remember it as a failure, and broadcaster Netflix can learn a lot from the event’s mixed reception.

Let’s start with Netflix’s biggest positive: The fight peaked at 65 million concurrent viewers.

That number comes from official data released by Netflix. It’s the most viewership the streamer has ever received from one of its live events, and that wasn’t the only record Paul vs.

Jake Paul, Mike Tyson Fight Viewed by 60 Million Households, Netflix Says
Image
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s heavyweight boxing match was viewed by an estimated 60 million households globally, peaking at 65 million “concurrent streams,” according to data shared by Netflix.

More data will be released in the coming days, including total viewer numbers, the streamer said. Also, Netflix said 50 million households globally tuned in live for the co-main event of Serrano vs. Taylor 2, which the streamer predicted would “likely be the most watched professional women’s sporting event in US history” once final results are tabulated.

As for the main card, after eight rounds, Paul, 27, claimed victory over former world heavyweight champion Tyson, 58, in a unanimous decision.

Per Netflix, Paul vs. Tyson and Taylor vs. Serrano 2 repped “the biggest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas in US history,” as the Paul vs. Tyson gate has surpassed $18 million, “double the previous Texas gate record for combat sports in both boxing and Mma, topping...

Mike Tyson Says He ‘Almost Died’ Ahead of Jake Paul Fight: ‘Lost Half My Blood and 25 Lbs in Hospital’
Image
Mike Tyson shed more light on the medical issues that originally delayed his fight against Jake Paul.

In a post on his official X account, Tyson wrote, “I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.”

The fight between Tyson and Paul was originally scheduled for July 20, but it was delayed until November after Tyson suffered what was reported to be an ulcer flare up in late May.

Tyson also said that he was “grateful” and had “no regrets to get in the ring one last time.”

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

After eight rounds,...

Jake Paul Wins Mike Tyson Fight; Netflix Rumble Lasts All Eight Rounds
Image
Netflix’s first live sports event ended with a bang, as the boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson went all eight rounds, with Paul coming out victorious via unanimous decision.

Immediately after the fight, Paul was humble about his victory, saying, “First and foremost, Mike Tyson … it’s such an honor. Let’s give it up for Mike, he’s a legend. He’s the greatest to ever do it. He’s the Goat. I look up to him, I’m inspired by him, and we wouldn’t be here today without him.”

Tyson spoke about his performance, saying, “I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself.” He also gave props to Paul as an athlete, saying, “He’s a very good fighter.”

The Nov. 15 fight took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Presenters and commentators included Roy Jones Jr., Cedric the Entertainer, Kate Abdo and Rosie Perez.

Jake Paul Beats Mike Tyson to Win Netflix Fight With Round 8 Unanimous Decision
Image
The highly-anticipated fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul was plagued by glitches — though it’s unclear whether it was Netflix, or local internet service providers at fault there. But it wasn’t a glitch for Paul, who won by unanimous decision after the full 8 rounds.

The victory settles the boxing rivalry that was originally delayed from its original July 2024 date after Tyson suffered a stomach ulcer flare-up.

During the fight, Tyson displayed the aggression and physical presence he’s known for, but his age quickly proved a detriment — at 58, his stamina and speed, not to mention reach, were far below 27-year-old Paul, who by round 4 had doubled Tyson in total punches thrown.

By round 5 Tyson was visibly tired and considerably slower than Paul, punching air as often as not. Paul meanwhile smacked Tyson around, more than once hitting him in the ear and visibly staggering him.

Nevertheless, Paul failed...

Jake Paul-Mike Tyson Fight Live Blog: Folie à Deux
Image
Ladies and gentlemen: Are you ready to rumble?!

Well, too bad — we’re rumbling anyway. Nearly one year to the day after being announced — and following one false start in July due to stomach ulcers — Jake Paul and Mike Tyson faced off in the ring Friday night for one of the most mega-hyped events in sports history.

This unlikely showdown between Paul, a 27-year-old former YouTube star, and Tyson, a 58-year-old former undisputed heavyweight with his own, Gen X-beloved video game, is virtually impossible to ignore — and marks a giant leap forward in terms of Netflix’s live-streaming ambitions.

If promoters Most Valuable Promotions are to be believed, the fight will be the most-watched in history. Netflix has not announced any viewership expectations. Paul himself predicted that 25 million would tune in.

Before a single punch had been thrown, it had already been one of the most debated, reviled and mocked fights ever mounted.

During the course of the fight, it was revealed that Nunes has three comedy specials on Netflix, and Goyat made an appearance on the streamer’s “Ultimate Beastmaster: India.”
