The projects selected for Tallinn Black Nights’ industry showcase have been revealed, including a drama executive produced by Tim Roth and a new category for youth films.

Mark Jenkin’s breakout hit Bait and Shelly Love’s pregnancy drama A Bump Along The Way are among the 16 titles longlisted for the Raindance Discovery award at this year’s British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs).

The 16 films will be whittled down to five nominated titles by Bifa voters and announced next week (Oct 30) alongside the other Bifa nominations.

Tim Roth To Exec Produce British Dance Feature ‘Hilda’; Premieres At Raindance Film Festival
Exclusive: Tin Star and The Hateful Eight star Tim Roth is to exec produce British dance feature Hilda. The actor is behind the film, which is produced by Odds On Productions and has its world premiere at next week’s Raindance Film Festival.

The film, which is directed by Rishi Pelham, stars Megan Purvis (The Audition), newcomer Yasmin Al-Khudhairi, Tessa Hatchet, Catherine Adams (Fears), Stanley Rawlings (Boiling Point) and Alex Humes (Britannia).

Hilda is a gritty drama set in modern-day London. Nearing her final year of school, Hilda must contend with the abandonment of her parents and the dependency of young siblings. With fiery determination locked behind a deadpan stoicism, Hilda depends on dance to keep the enclosing chaos at bay. Nassim Mniai and Tomos Roberts produce.

UK’s Raindance Film Festival unveils 2019 line-up
Producer/Director GINA HOLE LAZAROWICH
The world premiere of Canadian documentary ‘Krow’s Transformation’ will open the festival.

Krow’s Transformation, a documentary by Canadian director Gina Hole Lazarowich, will open the UK’s Raindaince Film Festival next month (September18-29). It is one of 13 world premieres screening at the festival.

The documentary tells the story of transgender model Krow Klan, a prominent former female model who begins a three-year transition to the male gender. It chronicles major cornerstones in their life such as walking the Louis Vuitton SS19 Paris show.
