Mr Loverman, Shōgun, And Blue Lights Score At The BAFTA TV Awards 2025 — See The Full Winners’ List
Image
With awards season all but done and dusted, Oscars. Golden Globes, SAGs, and BAFTAs all having been dutifully doled out over the past few months, this evening saw the BAFTA TV Awards 2025 — hosted by Avengers: Doomsday's Alan Cumming and held at London's Royal Festival Hall — take centre stage for a night of red carpet walking and shiny statue giving. And during a telecast in which the two most nominated shows — Netflix stalker thriller Baby Reindeer and ITV drama Mr Bates Vs The Post Office — took home one award apiece, the likes of Mr Loverman, Shōgun, and Blue Lights all scored big wins in major categories.

On the night, Baby Reindeer's sole win saw Jessica Gunning's turn as Richard Gadd's crazed stalker Martha recognised in the Supporting Actress race, while Mr Bates Vs Post Office, which was elsewhere nominated in both Lead acting categories, took home the coveted accolade for Limited Drama.

2025 BAFTA TV Awards: ‘Mr. Bates vs the Post Office’ and ‘Mr Loverman’ win big over ‘Baby Reindeer’ (full winners list)
Image
Mr Bates vs. the Post Office pulled off a victory over Netflix's Emmy-winning Baby Reindeer at the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday. The ITV drama that dominated U.K. ratings last year tells the story of hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses who were wrongly accused of theft, fraud, and false accounting due to a defective It system.

However, it wasn't all bad news for Baby Reindeer. Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner Jessica Gunning continued her impressive awards streak, scoring Best Supporting Actress, and bringing the limited series’ total to three wins, including writing and directing victories from the BAFTA TV Craft Awards on April 27.

Lennie James beat out the likes of Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer) and Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) to win Best Actor for Mr Loverman, in which he plays an exuberant, closeted family man who wants to end his marriage and live with his best friend.

Taskmaster Series 17 Line-Up Revealed – and It’s Not What You Might Expect
Image
We’ve had a marvellous run of Taskmaster series lately, so when a new line-up announcement is on the horizon, it’s easy to wonder whether the winning streak will continue or if we’re due a dud.

Never fear – Alex Horne and co. have delivered once again, although the series 17 Taskmaster line-up might not be quite what you’re expecting. Instead of the now-traditional Taskmaster family line-up, this time they’ve gone for a veteran from outside the world of stand-up comedy, plus four rising stars with slightly less mainstream recognition than normal. As ever with this show though, anybody you’re not familiar with at the start, you’ll almost certainly love by the end of the series.

The Taskmaster series 17 line-up is: Steve Pemberton, Sophie Willan, Nick Mohammed, John Robins and Joanne McNally! And here they are appearing in the very first trailer for the new run:...

Natasia Demetriou (‘What We Do in the Shadows’): From BAFTAs to Emmys?
Image
“What We Do in the Shadows” delighted its fans for a continued fourth season last year as the hit vampire comedy reached new heights in terms of critical success and straight-up laugh-out-loud moments.

Jermaine Clement‘s series, adapted from his and Taika Waititi‘s 2014 movie of the same name, follows four vampire roommates living in modern-day New York: Matt Berry‘s Laszlo, Kayvan Novak‘s Nandor, Mark Proksch‘s Colin Robinson, and Natasia Demetriou‘s Nadja. All four comedians have their own style and brand of comedy that combine to create a brilliant show.

As Nadja, Demetriou is the only female lead and takes full advantage of this spotlight — her pitch-perfect accent blending brilliantly with her skills as a physical comedy actress. Demetriou is also, clearly, an intelligent, natural performer — as Nadja, she knows when to ramp it up, when to dial it down, and fulfills the potential of each...

Former Channel 4 deputy director of programs and head of popular factual Kelly Webb-Lamb has set up a new production company.

Mothership Productions will focus on global formats and “ideas of scale” across the unscripted genres. The new outfit has already hit the ground running with a senior team that includes Charlotte Desai, Gilly Greenslade and Gudren Claire.

“After 25 years in the industry on both sides of the pitching/buying table, it felt like it was time to take the leap and have a go at doing it for myself,” said Webb-Lamb. “I can’t honestly believe I’ve managed to persuade such a brilliant group of women to come along for the ride with me. We are super ambitious — and intend to make some properly great, entertaining, warm and witty programmes — and have a lot of fun.”

Webb-Lamb is one of the U.K. TV industry’s most well-respected executives.

Rts Program Awards 2022 Start With a Slap Before Honoring Winners Including Jack Thorne, Russell T. Davies
Image
The Royal Television Society Program Awards 2022 started with a slap on Wednesday evening, when nominee Aj Odudu ran up to the stage and pretended to strike host Tom Allen.

“Oh my God, Aj, oh my God – I’m the one who’s lost their hair, don’t hit me,” Allen, who is bald, quipped in the evidently pre-rehearsed skit. “I never put my wife anywhere near your mouth.”

Continuing the reference to the altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock, which took place at the Oscars on Sunday night, Allen continued: “I’ve got to look my best for tomorrow, I’ve got an audition for ‘G.I. Jane 2.'”

Watching from the audience at the Jw Marriott Grosvenor House in Mayfair, where the awards were taking place, were a bevy of well-known faces including “The Batman” star Andy Serkis, “Supergirl’s” David Harewood and “Succession” actor Matthew Macfadyen. Macfayden was accompanying his wife Keeley Hawes,...

Channel 4 Greenlights ‘The Circle’ for Coronavirus Protocol-Friendly Season Three
Image
Channel 4’s hit format “The Circle” has been greenlit for a coronavirus protocol-friendly third season, while a celebrity version of the show is also on the way.

The Studio Lambert-produced format — which was picked up by Netflix in 2018 — will now be pre-recorded as opposed to airing live on certain days, and the show will also forgo a studio audience. Channel 4 has said the changes are in line with Covid-19 filming guidelines, which were released by the country’s broadcasters last month.

The production will resume shooting later this year in Manchester, with casting already underway.

“The Circle,” which is co-produced by Studio Lambert North and Motion Content Group, will see host Emma Willis return, while comedian Sophie Willan will also resume her voiceover role.

The format, in which “anyone can be anyone,” finds residents living in separate apartments and befriending each other using a social media platform called The Circle.
