Exclusive: Nick Jonas is near closed on a deal to star as Kiss lead singer Paul Stanley in Shout It Out Loud, the McG-directed film about the formation of the venerable hard rock band in the 1970s. The film will go into production at the end of the year or in early 2026, with STX fully financing. The most recent draft is by Darren Lemke. Previous drafts were done by Ole Sanders and the first writer of the script was William Herron.
I’m told that Jonas will do his own singing, and he’ll need time to train to replicate the jet-engine vocals of Stanley. Besides headlining in the sibling band The Jonas Brothers, Jonas has also proven his chops onscreen. His rise began with the 2016 toxic masculinity hazing drama Goat. He shone in the Mma series Kingdom, as a young gay man who grows up in a family...

The biopic of Kiss – Shout It Out Loud – is set to be directed by Terminator Salvation and Charlie’s Angels’ McG – more here.
Biopics of bands and music stars are proving to be solid box office, as even the middlingly-received Bob Marley: One Love demonstrated earlier this year. As these words are being written, preparation work continues on a biopic of the Bee Gees that Ridley Scott will be directing next year, while Sam Mendes is going three better, and putting together four films about The Beatles.
There’s been talk about a Kiss biopic meanwhile for a few years now, and it was back in 2021 that it looked like it was going to happen. Joachim Ronning was going to direct at that point, and it was going to be made with Netflix money.
Netflix appears to have dropped out of the project though, perhaps part of its newly-found frugality towards movies.

Exclusive: McG (Way of the Warrior Kid) is in final negotiations to direct Shout It Out Loud, a biopic about Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and their superstar rock band Kiss, which will be produced by STX Entertainment, sources tell Deadline.
STX declined to comment, but we hear the studio is in discussions with Lionsgate to distribute the film worldwide and co-finance. The project previously had been set up at Netflix, following a bidding war, with Joachim Rønning attached to direct, as we first reported in 2021.
No word on the framing the film will take in looking at Kiss’s decades-long musical journey. Financed by Polygram Entertainment, the most recent draft of the script is written by Darren Lemke. The project is based on a prior script by Ole Sanders, who was involved with Rønning’s incarnation. William Herron was the first writer on the project.

Word came down this week that Kiss have signed a deal with Netflix to create a biopic about their formative years. According to reports, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Rønning will helm the film and Ole Sanders will write the screenplay.
“The project is on a fast track,” reads a report in Deadline. “There is every reason to imagine Netflix and Kiss will use the synergy of a big rock biopic to memorialize their final days on stage, more than 50 years after Simmons and Stanley first got together.

Kiss, one of the biggest bands in the history of rock music, is about to get the biopic treatment. Netflix has won a bidding war for the rights to the project, which is set to be titled Shout It Out Loud. Both Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, founding members of the legendary group, are set to produce the project and will be closely associated with it. Not that Kiss needs any help gaining recognition, but this could once again catapult them into the spotlight in a big way. If all goes according to plan.
According to a new report, Shout It Out Loud is set to be directed by Joachim Ronning. The filmmaker's previous credits include Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Ole Sanders penned the most recent draft of the screenplay, with William Blake Herron penning an earlier version. Though no other suitors were named,...
