Cold Storage Trailer: Liam Neeson Tackles Fungus Apocalypse in Comedy-Horror Film
Image
The trailer for Liam Neeson's next movie, Cold Storage, has arrived. Neeson plays Pentagon bioterror operative Robert Quinn in the apocalyptic horror-comedy movie, which follows two self-storage company employees (Stranger Things' Joe Keery and Barbarian's Georgina Campbell) who accidentally unleash a parasitic fungus upon the world.

While this premise sounds similar to the post-apocalyptic HBO series The Last of Us and the video games it is based on, Cold Storage adapts a 2019 novel by Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp. Koepp also wrote the screenplay for the movie, which was directed by Alien Autopsy's Jonny Campbell and is set to debut in 2026.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has now unveiled the official trailer for Cold Storage. The trailer begins in an apocalyptic landscape where a team in Hazmat suits discovers horribly desiccated corpses. While this scene is intense, the comedy angle kicks in when the trailer introduces Keery and Campbell's bumbling characters,...

Bella Ramsey recalls hardest part of filming Joel's death in The Last of Us: 'I'll never forget it'
Image
When it comes to brutal, shocking death sequences on television, a few notable ones come to mind. There's the time Negan killed Glenn and Abraham in The Walking Dead, or when Hank was killed in Breaking Bad, or perhaps most famously, the Red Wedding from Game of Thrones.

This year featured a particularly poignant death scene in the form of The Last of Us season 2, when Joel (Pedro Pascal) was brutally beaten to death by Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), all while Ellie (Bella Ramsey) was left on the floor watching, unable to help. The moment captured the immense emotion from the video game with ease. Fans were left distraught as Joel, the show's protagonist, was taken so early in the season.

While Joel would later return sporadically throughout the season in various flashback sequences, his exit had a massive impact on not only the trajectory of the story but also how...

First-Time Emmy Nominees Let Us in on Their Celebrations

What does it mean to you to be recognized by the Academy for your performance?

Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus) I never dream about it; I never think about it. I do it for the doing of it. I can’t pretend it doesn’t feel lovely, but I just don’t take it personally. I’m just a conduit for bringing these wonderful stories to life. … The one thing the 23 nominations [that The White Lotus received] have in common is three-dimensional, surprising characters. Watching the final show, I was blown away by everybody; the standards across the board are so extraordinary. That’s because of the writing ability and how it lifts everyone up and encourages them to go bigger and more truthful.

Cristin Milioti (The Penguin) You never know how these things are going to go, and I’m blown away by the amount of nominations we have and...

Strange New Worlds Season 3 Episode 3 Plunges Star Trek Straight Into The Last Of Us
Image
Watch out, redshirts! This article contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" season 3, episode 3, "Shuttle to Kenfori."

"Star Trek" in general and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" in particular doesn't hesitate to draw inspiration from other genres. In fact, "Strange New Worlds" season 3 has now delivered two consecutive episodes that wink and nod to specific works of fiction. Episode 2, "Wedding Bell Blues," brought back William Campbell's child-like alien Trelane (now played by Rhys Darby of "Our Flag Means Death" fame) to pose as a wedding planner for the recently broken up Spock (Ethan Peck) and Chistine Chapel (Jess Bush). The antagonist resets the situation whenever Spock refuses to comply, thus locking the half-Vulcan in a loop that seems to pay homage to "Groundhog Day." Now, episode 3, titled "Shuttle to Kenfori," seems to riff on a far more recent pop culture phenomenon: HBO's post-apocalyptic juggernaut series "The Last of Us.

Pedro Pascal Had This One Demand For Disney Before Taking On The Mandalorian Role! (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Pedro Pascal nearly skipped The Mandalorian, and not because he doubted the story or role. The real holdup was streaming. HBO’s The Last of Us is undoubtedly one of the most acclaimed shows in recent years. After wrecking the viewers’ emotional well-being with season 1, the series returned with another season on HBO in April 2025.

Pascal’s fatherly emotions escalated even further in this series, while Ramsey brought sass and an emotional quotient. While people enjoyed the storyline of a survival drama in the first season, in the second, the plot shows their story years later and delves deeper into the characters. But do you know how...

‘The Pitt,’ ‘The Studio,’ and ‘Adolescence’ have taken the lead in this pivotal Emmy category
Image
When it comes to predicting the Emmys, there is one group of bellwether categories worth paying close attention to. Over the past decade, a notable trend has emerged: the winners for Best Drama Series and Best Drama Casting have mirrored each other seven times; Best Comedy Series and Best Comedy Casting eight times; and Best Limited Series and Best Limited/Movie Casting nine times. That's a combined accuracy rate of 80 percent over the most recent 10-year period.

With that in mind, our gaze is fixed on the three casting races for the 2025 Emmys, where The Pitt, The Studio, and Adolescence are already making compelling cases as the early front-runners.

Game Of Thrones Reunion In New Gothic Horror Movie Sets "Weird" Romantic Dynamic For Stars
Image
Game Of Thrones cast members are reuniting for an intriguing new horror movie, but one star says the romantic dynamic between their characters felt a little odd. Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R. R. Martin, the fantasy drama remains one of the most popular HBO series of all time.

After premiering in 2011, the hit show came to a divisive conclusion in 2019 with season 8. The main Game of Thrones cast, though, bid farewell to the franchise in 2019, their characters' arcs concluded. Many who appeared in the show have gone on to participate in various exciting projects in the world of TV and movies.

What are the chances The Last of Us will take home Emmy awards?
Image
The 2025 Emmy nominations are out and generating a lot of conversations about who's on the list, who was snubbed, and who will be taking home the coveted trophies. A lot of TV shows from the sci-fi and fantasy genres made the cut, including Severance, The Penguin, Andor, and HBO's zombie drama The Last of Us.

Speaking recently with Variety about what’s on the slate for HBO and its streaming platform, Bloys was asked whether The Last of Us Season 3 will make the 2026-2027 season. Confirming that plans are now in place to release the third season in 2027 (meaning audiences will be waiting a while), Bloys revealed that, despite updates to the contrary, it is currently unknown whether there will be a Season 4 or if Season 3 will be the show’s last.

“Is She Even Hyrulean?”: Nintendo Casting Bo Bragason as Zelda Over Hunter Schafer Has Ignited One of the Fiercest Debates in the Fandom
Image
The tale of Zelda is one of the most loved stories among gamers, and none of us wants to see it ruined. In the world of game adaptations, not many could capture the same feelings as the games. With a limited number of hits like The Last of Us and Fallout, live-action scenes for games have been lacklustre.

Right now, people are out with their pitchforks over Zelda live-action casting, as fans don’t find the faces to share a resemblance. While many believed Zelda should have been played by Hunter Schafer, others believe the casting decision is alright with Bo Bragason.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who has been cast as Link, is facing the same level of criticism. In this world, different opinions will always exist, and we can’t do anything about them. Regardless, let’s explore the matter a bit more.

Andor and Squid Game producers react to Emmy snubs
Image
Every year, the Emmys reveal which shows, actors and producers are up for awards, and each year, there are always some worthy candidates who get left behind. This year, there's a lot of stink about Diego Luna not getting a nod in the Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series category for his performance as the title character in Star Wars: Andor, definitely one of the most arresting dramas of 2025. Genevieve O’Reilly, who played Mon Mothma, also didn't get a nod.

“These aren’t great moment-to-moment [performances],” showrunner Tony Gilroy told Deadline about his overlooked actors. “These are epic, long-term character studies that they’ve done over 24 episodes. I think the ultimate victory is that these performances will be celebrated and discussed for years to come. I feel confident about that.”

For the record, the nominees in the Outstanding Lead Actor category include Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Pedro Pascal,...

Image
We now have a firm idea of when The Last of Us will return on HBO.

Season 1 debuted in 2023, and season 2 just wrapped up earlier this year in 2025. Now, the show has its sights set of the third season, and fans hoping it’ll be released next year won’t be happy.

Keep reading to find out more…

Casey told Variety, “The series is definitely planned for 2027. [The Last of Us co-creator/EP Craig Mazin] is still working it out whether it will be two more seasons or one more long season. It hasn’t been decided yet, and I’m following Craig’s lead on that.”

He was also asked about the challenge of casting shakeups and lead changes. If you don’t know, Pedro Pascal‘s character died early in season 2, giving the reigns to Bella Ramsey‘s Ellie. Now, season three will feature another shift, focusing on Kaitlyn Dever‘s Abby.

HBO boss confirms The Last of Us season 3 release window
Image
The Last of Us season 3 is officially in the works on HBO, but it's going to be a while until the new season is released.

After The Last of Us season 2 finale aired on HBO and HBO Max in May, we were hoping the wait between seasons wouldn't be as long as the wait between the first two seasons. While it might not be a full two years between seasons, it sounds like it's going to be close between season 2 and season 3.

In a new interview with Variety, HBO CEO Casey Bloys revealed that The Last of Us season 3 will premiere in 2027. That's the first time we've seen the HBO boss confirm that there's no chance we'd see the third season next year.

Bloys also mentioned that they haven't decided if The Last of Us season 3 is the final season or not.

Here's what he told Variety:

"The series is...

The Last of Us Makes Major Waves With 16 Emmy Nominations Including Best Actress
Image
The Last of Uslooks to win big at the Emmys with more than a dozen nominations.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, The Last of Us Season 2 has officially snagged a whopping sixteen Emmy Award nominations. Among the most notable individual nominations the series garnered are Best Actress for Bella Ramsey's portrayal of Ellie, as well as Best Actor for Pedro Pascal's portrayal of Joel, the latter of which comes as something of a surprise considering Pascal's scant screen time in the second season.

Numerous The Last of Us stars were nominated in the categories of Best Guest Actor and Best Guest Actress, including Joe Pantoliano and Jeffrey Wright for their portrayals of Eugene and Isaac, and Catherine O'Hara and Kaitlyn Dever for their roles as Gail and Abby. The Last of Us itself earned a nomination for Best Drama, while the series' "making of" documentary was nominated for Best Nonfiction Short.

HBO CEO Confirms The Last of Us' Season 3 Release Date
Image
The Last of Us might be Emmy-nominated, but it'll take a while before the show graces HBO screens again.

Speaking to Variety, HBO CEO Casey Bloys dropped more information about The Last of Us' future and how long it will take to adapt the rest of The Last of Us Part II. "The series is definitely planned for 2027," Bloys said regarding season 3's release date, though he revealed showrunner Craig Mazin "is still working it out whether it will be two more seasons or one more long season. It hasn't been decided yet, and I'm following Craig's lead on that."

Unlike the previous seasons, Mazin will be the sole showrunner going into season 3, with Neil Druckmann and writer Halley Gross -- who co-wrote Part II's story with Druckmann -- announcing they will step away from the show earlier this month. According to Bloys, this decision was a result of Druckmann...

Image
Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max was the most nominated platform at the 2025 Emmy Awards with 142 noms, paced by HBO’s limited series The Penguin (24), The White Lotus Season 3 (23) and The Last of Us Season 2 (16) as well as HBO Max originals Hacks Season 4 (14) and The Pitt Season 1 (13). This marks the most Emmy nominations for HBO in a single year, topping its previous high mark of 137 in 2019, before the launch of streamer HBO Max.

“Ultimately it’s a great validation of all the creative people that we work with,” said Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content. “The Emmys are not the reason why we do the shows we do, but it’s a nice recognition of the hard work that goes into each and every one of these shows.”

He gave shoutout to Wbd CEO David Zaslav who “has always been very, very supportive of everything we’re trying to do,...

Kathy Bates aims to become the oldest Drama Actress winner in Emmys history, surpassing Glenn Close
Image
Here's a case for Matlock to solve: will Kathy Bates make Emmys history this year?

In 2009, then-62-year-old Glenn Close became the oldest Best Drama Actress winner to date. It was her second consecutive trophy for Damages, and when she won the year prior at age 61, she overtook the category's previous oldest champion, Sally Field, who was 60 when she prevailed for Brothers & Sisters in 2007.

Bates turned 77 on June 28, which means, should she prevail at the 2025 Emmys on Sept. 14, she'd beat Close's record by 15 years. But as we all know, age is just a number!

"I am deeply grateful to the Television Academy for this honor," said the former Best Actress Oscar winner for 1980s' Misery. "My heartfelt thanks to CBS ... for believing in us every step of the way on this beautiful journey and for being such delightful people to work with. Every day on set is a gift thanks to the dedication,...

Emmys Diversity Report 2025: LGBTQ and Black Performers Thrive, but Overall Poc Representation Is Down
Image
First, the good news about this year’s Emmy nominees: Queer, Black, Asian and Latino performers made history. The less good news: Overall representation is down for people of color, especially for folks of Asian and indigenous descent.

Of the 92 total performers nominated in the acting categories, 24 of them are people of color, a dip from 2024, when Asian, Latino and Black actors made significant strides, with 30 nominees.

This year, members of the LGBTQ community did well across all categories. Bella Ramsey picked up their second Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for HBO’s “The Last of Us,” becoming the only nonbinary performer to be twice nominated for acting Emmys. This bit of history builds on Ramsey’s own milestone from 2023, when they became the first openly nonbinary actor to be nominated in a lead acting category.

Queer actors were particularly well represented in the supporting actor in a comedy series category,...

HBO Just Shattered Its Emmy Nomination Record and Trounced Disney and Netflix in the Process
Image
The Emmy Awards won't be handed out until September, but HBO Max is already a big winner. By the time all the nominees were announced earlier today, the streaming service had netted 142 nominations. That's spread out over 20 series, movies, and miniseries, with The White Lotus, The Penguin, and The Last of Us leading the pack. The awards will be handed out on Sunday, September 14, in a ceremony hosted by comedian Nate Bergatze.

HBO's previous record was set in 2019, before the launch of HBO Max, with 137 nominations: that year, Game of Thrones, Barry, and Chernobyl led the way. This year, Netflix came in second, with 121 nominations; Apple TV+ rounded out the top three, taking 81. Vacation resort anthology series The White Lotus and DC Comics-derived crime drama The Penguin both earned 24 nominations apiece, with stars Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Colin Farrell, and Cristin Milioti all taking home nominations, among others. Lena Dunham Was Skeptical of Romance With ‘Girls’ — Her ‘Too Much’ Ending Shows How Far She’s Come
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the first season of Too Much.]

Lena Dunham knows that going into business with a romantic partner — let alone someone you have only known for a short period of time — is not for everyone. But a few years ago, about a month into their courtship, the Girls creator approached her partner, British-Peruvian indie musician Luis Felber, with an unexpected proposal: “Will you make a show with me?”

At the time, Dunham and Felber, who had met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend, were still getting to know each other. They had yet to hold hands in public, much less call each other girlfriend and boyfriend. They had barely seen — or heard about — the other person’s work. (Despite having a mother and a sister who were big fans of Girls, Felber admits he had never watched the HBO dramedy, and has only screened a couple episodes to date.)

Since moving to the U.

'The Last of Us' Co-Creator's Shock Exit Ahead of Season 3 Addressed by HBO Max Boss
Image
The Last of Us is preparing for its next chapter — but without one of its most important creators. Following news that Naughty Dog studio head and The Last of Us game creator Neil Druckmann is stepping away from the HBO adaptation ahead of Season 3, Casey Bloys, Chairman/CEO of HBO and Max content, has officially weighed in on the decision and what it means for the future of the Emmy-winning series. Speaking with Variety during a celebratory round of interviews following HBO and Max’s record-breaking 142 Emmy nominations, Bloys addressed the elephant in the room: Druckmann’s departure.

"Obviously it was great to have Neil involved in the beginning. The whole reason that I wanted to do Last of Us is after Chernobyl, I said to Craig [Mazin], ‘What do you want to do next?’ And Last of Us was what he wanted to do. That’s what was most important...

Matlock's Kathy Bates Just Achieved The Emmy Record We Were All Waiting For
Image
Matlock star Kathy Bates has just set an Emmy record that has been a long time in the making. The Primetime Emmys are the perfect platform to celebrate the best-in-class for the top programs across network television, and give the stars who make these shows what they are the recognition they deserve.

Bates' gender-flipped legal drama Matlock is a remake of the 1980s show of the same name, and though Matlock has a stellar cast, Bates is truly the star. She has had a long, successful career and has already scooped Primetime Emmys for Two and a Half Men and American Horror Story: Coven, but this nomination is special for a reason.

Per THR, Bates has officially become the oldest nominee for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the 2025 Emmys, with her nomination for the CBS legal drama coming at the age of 77. She's nominated alongside Sharon Horgan for Bad Sisters,...

Emmy Awards 2025: Severance, The Studio, And The Penguin Lead 77th Emmys Nominations
Image
It's about that time again, people. The Oscars are over, the BAFTAs are behind us, and the Golden Globes were certainly a thing that happened, so all eyes are now firmly locked on the 2025 Emmy Awards. And this afternoon, Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song took to the stage of the Wolf Theatre in the Saban Media Centre to unveil the nominees for this year's upcoming 77th Emmys. And after what has been a pretty exceptional past twelve months in the world of television, Apple TV+'s Severance finds itself in(nie) pole position. Dan Erickson's water cooler dominating sci-fi series leads the pack so far with a staggering 27 nominations, while HBO's The Penguin and Apple's own The Studio are nipping at its heels with a heady 24 and 23 nods of their own respectively.

Severance heads up a sure-to-be hotly contested Outstanding Drama Series field, where it'll face off against Andor,...

‘The Last of Us’ earns 16 Emmy nominations — but has 3 shocking snubs
Image
Emmy voters are still infected with The Last of Us, rewarding the zombified series with 16 nominations on Tuesday, including Best Drama Series. Notably, Season 2 of HBO's adaptation of the popular video-game series didn't get everything for which it submitted, and there are three notable snubs that are causing an uproar on social media: supporting actress Isabela Merced, and the standout episode "Through The Valley" in both directing and writing.

Here are the categories The Last of Us got into — and missed.

Best Drama Series: Nominated

It was never a question whether the fungal apocalypse drama would receive a series bid, since Season 1 scored 24 nominations and won eight trophies in 2023. The Last of Us ended up placing fourth in Gold Derby's Best Drama Series predictions by the time the nominations were announced. It finds itself nominated alongside Andor, The Diplomat, Paradise, The Pitt, Severance, Slow Horses, and The White Lotus.

Severance, The Penguin and The Last of Us dominate the 2025 Emmy nominations
Image
The time has come to dive into the list of 2025 Emmy Nominations, where, as luck would have it, some of the most nominated shows are from the science fiction and fantasy genres. What may be more surprising is that HBO has beaten Netflix for the most Emmy Nominations, with a total of 142, thanks to hit shows such as The White Lotus, The Penguin and The Last of Us. That's the most nominations the network has ever received.

Speaking of The Last of Us, it joins the ranks of most nominated shows alongside Severance (Apple TV+), Black Mirror (Netflix), Andor (Disney+), What We Do In The Shadows (FX), and The Boys (Prime Video). Severance, The Penguin, The Last of Us, Andor and Black Mirror are amongst the most-nominated shows.

Tell me, truthfully, are we really that surprised? Let's get into the details, shall we?

Severance is topping the list (rightfully so...

Carrie Coon Talks Emmy Nomination, Future Of ‘The Gilded Age’ & Whether She’d Return For ‘The White Lotus’ Season 4
Image
How’s Carrie Coon celebrating her third Emmy nomination — this time for her turn in Season 3 of Mike White’s The White Lotus — you ask?

“I’m working, which, again, is the best way to celebrate,” she told Deadline in an interview this morning. “I’m in Vancouver doing an independent film. I’m here with my whole family, so it’s very chaotic. The days are long, and it’s the kind of good, hard, fulfilling work I’ve been lucky to do. I’m very fortunate to be working right now.”

The actress — who previously scored noms for FX’s Fargo and HBO Max’s The Gilded Age, which is currently halfway through airing its third season — is in production for Harmonia, Guy Nattiv’s thriller that also stars Odessa Young, Lily James and Bella Ramsey, an HBO compatriot of Coon’s who scored a historic second Emmy...
