A major copyright infringement case in Russia involving the popular series Attack on Titan has been settled after a year-long legal dispute.
Per Oricon, the case originated in July 2023, when Kodansha discovered that a Russian company, Iq Art Management LLC, was conducting a paid event in Saint Petersburg that featured unauthorized exhibits of Attack on Titan and other works. In response, Kodansha filed a lawsuit on July 4, 2024, at the Arbitration Court of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast for copyright infringement. The court found in favor of Kodansha on April 7, 2025, recognizing copyright infringement for 15 of the works. The judgment, which became final on June 24, 2025, after no appeal was filed, ordered Iq Art Management LLC to pay 3.75 million rubles in damages, plus 26,000 rubles in court costs.

Translating Tolkien's pointillistic imagery in The Lord of the Rings novels to the cinema is quite a complicated task – one that Peter Jackson and his crew pull off with exquisite sophistication. The world is built with near-perfect accuracy, from the sleepy-green Shire to the craggy charcoal of Barad-dûr, and everything in between.
However, there are a few characters whose book versions differ greatly from the movies — sometimes for the better, but not always. That said, it's unfair to expect everything to be perfect in artistic adaptations of pre-existing works because personalities depend on the actors as much as the screenplay.

The story of One Piece is undoubtedly one of the most impressive in anime history, and with each passing year, the scale of the long-running series grows a bit larger. Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates have traveled to dozens of islands during their time as a crew, introducing hundreds of named characters to the series' cast in the process.
While most of the characters that appear in One Piece are humans, there are plenty of powerful non-human characters that also play a major role in the pirate world. Between the Giants, Dwarves, Fish-men, and other races that decorate the Grand Line, some non-humans could even go toe-to-toe with Monkey D. Luffy in a fight.

The Straw Hat Pirates have encountered or heard about most of the strongest crews in One Piece history, and their pecking order is becoming clearer. The On Air Pirates, Thriller Bark Pirates, and Fire Tank Pirates are just a few of the formidable crews that pose a challenge to Monkey D. Luffy and his crew on their journey. The Sun Pirates, Donquixote Pirates, and Kuja Pirates are among the influential pirate crews in the series, with powerful leaders and unique abilities that make them formidable opponents.
The world of One Piece is full of wonder and discovery, and thanks to the final words of the King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger, there are also countless pirate crews roaming its seas. Each of these crews leaves its mark on the Grand Line, whether through the fearsome sight of its Jolly Roger, the personalities of its crewmates, or its raw strength in combat.

With One Piece's Wano Country Arc concluded, Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are finally prepared to head into the final leg of their journey across the Grand Line. Thanks to his intense fight with Kaido, Luffy has achieved two of his biggest goals: becoming an Emperor of the Sea and Awakening his Devil Fruit.
Gear 5, Monkey D. Luffy's brand-new transformation, represents the pinnacle of his ridiculous powers, allowing anime's favorite rubber pirate to do nearly anything he can imagine. He can manipulate the ground to make it stretch and even make people's eyes pop out of their sockets like a cartoon. However, these new abilities also came with the revelation that Luffy's fruit isn't the Gum-Gum Fruit, as previously believed — that was just a name given by the World Government to hide its true identity from the world while they attempted to capture it. Anime is one of the most creative mediums for storytelling, and few stories are as fascinating as reality. History is rife with stories of human endurance, strange occurrences, and catastrophic disasters that shook the world to its core. In many notable instances, anime uses historical settings to tell its stories, whether they're exaggerated for dramatic effect or are presented as honest portrayals of the period.
It's important to remember that historical accuracy is only one part of storytelling. Being historically authentic is about more than just portraying facts correctly — it's about humanizing the characters no matter how fantastical the story gets.

Given the plethora of tones and topics featured in shonen anime, it's clear that the genre is extremely versatile. Shonen anime may be known for high-octane, action-packed stories, but it also dips its toes into other types of narratives, often featuring a significant amount of comedy, drama, and horror elements. That being said, the best-known shonen anime are usually fairly upbeat during their conclusions.
Sadly, not all shonen narratives are as lucky. More than a few of these series have surprisingly dour endings, some of which are among the saddest in the entire anime medium. From bittersweet to downright upsetting, almost no viewers saw such heartbreaking endings coming to these shonen anime.

In the anime medium, quality parents come at a premium. Countless anime characters are born to fractured households, and as a result, they often lack any sort of concrete parental guidance.
